I'm way late to the party, but just found out about Marathon, by Bungie.

Also, do you reckon it'll be F2P? I saw a video on YT that suggested that.

Well damn. I loved the original trilogy and I have been saying for ages that I want a remake using modern game design and technology. But based on that website and trailer, I don’t think I’m getting what I wanted. Marathon had a multiplayer mode, yes, but the core was a single player story that made you feel like you were all alone in the world. This looks like not that.

Honestly I'd just love to see a modern re-imagining of the original trilogy. Same story, same basic level structure, just give us a modern 3D engine and some alterations to make the ship generally feel larger and to follow modern design philosophies.
