I only played it briefly at my nephew's house back in the day but it actually seemed really janky. Was it actually good or was this just "omg GTA but with Simpsons I'm 11 and this is cool!"?

The latter.

I remember watching a playthrough once. You could hear their enthusiasm drop part way through level 3.

It's a game whose legacy is propped up entirely by nostalgia.

I'll be honest, I thought the this was about Road Rage until they mentioned GTA. Was Hit & Run that popular?
