So it seems like root isn't even possible on the Zenfone 9 anymore. But I havet confirmed it yet.

PSA: don't buy it if you need root. Their unlock servers are shut down and moderators proactively delete topics with questions about it. -u/rngesius

I actually ended up sending mine back when I found out I couldn't root it. Such a shame.

Damn that sucks.
