My friends and I agree that boredom is the only appropriate response. We were over it within an hour
Holy shit this is fucking grim
It's just "don't feed the trolls" logic as applied to narcissistic politicians
I mean, you were right the first time. Trump is a troll in a man suit.
Caring that a former politician was almost assassinated isn’t feeding the trolls. Being bored by the very reasonable deluge of coverage of a former president nearly being assassinated is absolutely grim as hell man. Assuming the poster is American take some fucking interest in your life.
I hate to contradict you but I do take an interest in my life; this is why I emigrated from America, years ago.
Same reason why I did last week. But I still think it’s important to care
I care, but I think we're showing it in different ways.
Being bored by political violence isn’t caring, sorry. Being bored by the rampant gun violence epidemic, being bored by the American death cult, these things are not caring.
Do you not find it tedious to carry on like this? I have given explanations of my rationale, and your response has been to talk in circles.
Disagreeing with you isn’t talking in circles. Your rationale is…you’re bored and you emigrated. Cool. That rationale is fucking grim, man.
You seem to think you’ve made some incredibly compelling argument, when all you’ve done is state what you are (bored) and where you are (not the US).
Noooo. I will try again in good faith.
I just woke up a few seconds ago, but my rationale was that we should not entertain a click driven media circus around this event, because for one thing it's largely a case of self inflicted stochastic terrorism that is being incorporated into a horse race election by a media that wants nothing more than for this race to be as close as possible (if not outright favoring Trump). We gain nothing by letting this moment really shine for Trump, and we have everything to gain by moving on, hopefully back to talking about P45, the felonies, the countless lies, the several good things Biden has actually accomplished, etc. It would also please me deeply to have known that Trump had to deal with what he narcissistically experienced as the most heroic moment of his life, only to watch everyone collectively shrug.
I did not spell this all out in prior comments, for which I apologize. I can be self absorbed at times, and what is obvious to me is regrettably often not so to others. Please do not hold onto your previous surmise of me, I am just a grumpy jokey boy who is too fond of brevity.
All the forgoing is subject to hasty edits once I am upright and caffeinated.
Fair enough no hard feelings. The simple fact is we don’t know the motive. We assume but it could just as well be an obsessed fan (a la Selena) as a republican who thinks Trump isn’t extreme enough as a leftist who wants to take out a fascist. Those motives ascribe different responses. It’s also a little naive to think that you could just ignore an assassination attempt. I understand ignoring trumps day to day antics, but this is bigger than those.
It's worth noting that Teddy Roosevelt was able to more or less ignore a much better attempt, and even call for the assassin to not be harmed. Though I suppose more resilience is expected of progressives. 🙃

Nah, what's grim is that the bullet missed his brain. Granted, it's a tiny target, but still..
