Why are folks so anti-capitalist?locked

Hi all,

I'm seeing a lot of hate for capitalism here, and I'm wondering why that is and what the rationale behind it is. I'm pretty pro-capitalism myself, so I want to see the logic on the other side of the fence.

If this isn't the right forum for a political/economic discussion-- I'm happy to take this somewhere else.

Cheers!

McCarthy era red scare and the elimination of socialist parties by Woodrow Wilson before him (among a lot of other things) contributed to US citizens having very little understanding of systems beyond capitalism. The imperial core mentality is real and we are not immune.

Read Capitalist Realism by Mark Fisher on this phenomenon. wikipedia page

I’ll just say I read this book and it was very hard to understand without socialist lingo in your mind. It’s more of a rant than anything. I really wish it was more of a beat down of capitalist economics, but it was really just difficult to understand let alone follow along.

Thats perfectly ok! If you want easy to follow breakdowns of socialism and capitalism then you can subscribe to Second Thought on YouTube who makes introductory/essay videos.
