Personally, as a noob myself, I enjoy reading about others' experiece when they switch. No idea why. Just fun to read usually.

This is the correct answer. The massgravel github also has a link to a page with official ISOs.

More like 300. Many of these sites will be copied multiple times.

XL Turbotastic Mega Ginormous, etc. Hate naming schemes like this. Why not just make it v2.0 or the Pro version instead? Why use multiple words that make it sound bigger and better? Marketing BS that just sounds dumb.

Not if you automate it with a good script and run it on a few machines at a time.

Because someone decided to do it.

You don't always need a good reason other than it might be cool/fun. Sometimes it's just because you can.

You're not forced to use it, so if it's not your cup of tea, that's fine.

We can only hope. A healthy wariness of authority is never a bad thing.

Yes it's proprietary and depends on a lot of Google services. Usually if you want it on a custom ROM, you need to use the full GApps packages. No Android Auto on smaller GApps packages.

Kids will be kids. Good parenting makes a big difference but kids will end up seeing and seeking these things at some point.

I prefer a full-size physical sensor on the back of the phone myself. It tends to be more accurate and faster than the under screen ones I've dealt with. No idea about the power button ones. Convenient placement probably. Not sure about performance though.

Linux Mint is amazing if you want Ubuntu with less bad choices.

Try Simple Mobile Tools. I've had mixed experiences with them. Some were great and others were a little too simple for my use cases. But I've mostly heard good things.

ETA: They're available on F-droid and can be updated with Obtainium.

Just like Lemmy, some Mastodon instances have measures in place to try and prevent bots.

TWRP and OrangeFox allow you to make full backups and do root things without rooting your phone. If you have no need for that kind of functionality then it doesn't make sense to do it. ClockWorkMod I'm pretty sure doesn't exist anymore, or does it?

Mint is always an option too.

Girl on the left isn't bad looking either.

That's why it'll end up beig forced on people. Just like what's happened with 11. And 10 before it. Didn't happen to everyone, but there were lots of complaints about it happening.

10 LTSC can be gotten from there as well and is also supported for a good, long while if anyone prefers it over 11 LTSC.

Hell, that's even better. Running scripts on a bunch of VMs on a couple hundred server machines. If that doesn't do it, I don't know what will.

Mastodon, Firefish, Misskey, Sharkey. There really are a lot of interesting options. Mastodon seems to be the most popular though.

Just install GNOME on Mint.

Still, even for $30. I refuse to pay for something to shove ads down my throat. If you're advertising to me then I'm not paying.

I've never owned an Apple device or dealt with iMessage chats before but my understanding is that Android users and their blue bubbles don't have access to some of the features of iMessage and that messes with the chat for everyone or something. Also LUL Android user is too poor/not cool enough to own an iPhone. That's what I've gathered from Americans on the internet anyway.

I'm pratty sure old.reddit.com lets you bypass this.

It's not much, but I've got a little LG netbook with an Atom CPU and 2GB RAM running Pi-hole and Syncthing.

I've used APKPure in the past for APK downloads. I think that site and APKMirror are okay. Try them, but be careful. I haven't used them often, but I think they are sometimes recommended for APK downloads. Don't think their downloads are cracked or modified in any way so if that age verification is part of the game then this might not work.

I don't understand their podcasts. It isn't sectioned off or organised in any kind of way.

I tried it out and still regret it, because even after unsubscribing from all of the podcasts I still get notified of new episodes all the time.

When I was living in China I noticed something similar. It was as if they were all trying to look as close as possible to Apple while being just distinct enough to not be an issue. Apple is huge in China, but not everyone can afford it I guess.

You also can't encounter wild pokémon.

I'd honestly be curious to see how that plays out. Every creator hosts their own content while strengthening and spreading the Peertube network.

I feel like that would quickly solidify it as a viable alternative.

You can't skip parts of the video or go back to a part you want to see again. You have to watch the whole thing.

Baby, don't hurt me.

I'd love to get a physical keyboard again. I'd happily give up some screen size for it too. Phones have gotten much too big.

A smaller screen would limit the phone, though. Would probably become a phone calls and texting only device since most apps wouldn't know what to do with the small screen and weird aspect ratio.

From what I've been reading on the internet, mostly from other people, Ubuntu is leaning heavily into making everything a Snap. Any official flavour of Ubuntu is expected to follow this. Other Ubuntu-based distros, like Mint, are avoiding Snap as far as possible. So, there's options for anyone that doesn't like Snap at least.

Might be Material You theming everything to match your wallpaper.

When I was still doing IT support as a job, I hated every single printer I ever had to deal with. This was until I dealt with my first Brother. I ended up buying one for myself eventually and it's the only brand I'll ever recommend.

If both OSs are on their own drive, Windows causes slightly less trouble with Linux. Plus, you can just repurpose the second drive if Linux doesn't work out. No repartitioning your Windows drive again.

Yeah, I was trying not to be biased and immediately think this was all BS. Then I read the part about a case for defamation and just immediately went back to "fuck these guys".

Just came across as the bully playing the victim trying to show how reasonable and nice they're being by not "retaliating" by bullying any further.
