Quick note: beehaw has defederated as of the other day

I don't think people should be encouraged to join large lemmys. The federated nature makes your home instance irrelevant for the most part, but it is harder to understand to new users than other corporate sites': GIVE EMAIL GIVE PASSWORD HERE ACCESS

Good Q. Consider you can install Ubuntu touch on fairly cheap older phones already. I know you're asking about "ready to go" phones but this is an alternate solution

Understand the true nature of making money with AI "research" mirite??

Not surprised. A lot of people don't care about what's happening and just want their funny meme or information on X.

When reddit drops the shopping feature they'll easily recoup any loss from the blackout.

There's also some great mobile apps: Jerboa for Android and mlem for iOS

This thread explains what is happening

Had the same issue yesterday. I needed to update the client

I'm not surprised at all. I fully expect "normies" to flock to this service just like anything else meta has made (except metaverse kek)

I read a few days ago that lemmy doesn't count lurkers as "users", just accounts that actually do stuff. Is it possible the number is much higher?

Most people don't care and don't even know what an API is or that third party reddit apps exist. I'd wager everyone that's going to leave has already left, and reddit will be back to full power soon.

Which is good for us because we do not want a lot of the more toxic people here.

Fun fact in Russia comrade is a term used by homosexuals to refer to each other

A lot of these communities already exist on several instances. If you're not already aware of https://lemmyverse.net/communities I encourage y'all to peep it

Might wanna use https instead of http

Yes but how many of these "few" bugs cause catastrophic problems?

Aljazeera is fantastic, I've been reading them for years and years. Their middle eastern news tends to be biased, but everything else is good. Of course, never trust a single news source on anything

Here's an AI generated summary if you can't watch. It's probably not super accurate so watch the video later:

The reviewer of the YouTube video "Final Fantasy XVI - Review (Spoiler-free)" expresses disappointment with the game, criticizing its outdated feel, lack of interesting side quests and mini-games, uneven pacing, and reliance on cutscenes. They also discuss the combat system, which welcomes new players but lacks depth, strategic angles, and complexity. The reviewer notes that the game's presentation is impressive, but the performance is shaky, and it feels like a step back from the traditional workings of the Final Fantasy franchise. They ultimately do not recommend the game and warn that if this is the future of the franchise, it could lead to the loss of one of the most iconic RPG franchises in video game history.
