I am an optimist after all.

No, the data is not physical, it is either magnetic or electric.

Since most people still store their media on hard drives most media is purely magnetic.

In a solid state drive storage chip the data is stored electronicly.

Considering thw age of both Biden and Trump, either being forced to work four years more should be considered elder abuse.

Untill someone makes a wood detector I don't think they are worried about it.

The point is that a metal detector is specifically made to find stuff easier, and significantly cuts down on manpower needed to find stuff, increasing the risk of scavanging.

Using a metal detector here in Sweden requires a license from the government.

This is to prevent scavaging archeological artifacts.

That explains so much, I have been wondering why Ian suddenly started talking about more modern and common guns, but never saw the drama.

Thank you for filling in the gaps.

I was into the ThatGuyWithTheGlasses community about 15 years ago, I watched NostalgiaCritic every week, and tye Spoony Experiment often as well as some other channels.

When Doug killed his NC character and tried to start a new series with a character based of a failed movie director, I stopped watching, then I saw a video about the drama at tgwtg and lost all interest in the team.

I have watched one or two video from them since when NC was revived, but it is completely uninteresting now.

I am sad to read this, his channel is so nice because he presents firearms calmly snd friendly.

I stopped watching the channel when he started doing a lot of gun matches instead of talking about the mechanics of guns.

I did wonder why IRTV seemed to just fade away, sad to hear about the falling out.

Like all people in media, his on screen persona is just a character, sad to hear that he is a dick outside of the camera.

Please don't be too harsh on yourself, you don't actually know that it would have been a good idea, it is impossible to say if it would have been better or not.

You took the logical route, finnishing your education, which opened other doors for you.

I tend to see life as a game where you are given a set of playing cards at birth, you gradually take over control of your deck as you grow up.

You play your individual cards with the knowledge you have, and every play can give you even better cards to use later.

You have no idea if you are about to get your next break, you can only play your cards with the knowledge you have.

I have thought about this for a while now, before any natural resource can be exploited the following needs to be done:

  1. An environmental restoration fund needs to be set up qith an initial payment and an aditional 2% of the value of the resource exploited anually throughout the life time of the facility, this money of controlled by the government and used to fund environmental restoration once the the facility is closed.
  2. 10% of the annual value of the resource extracted will go to the local government, and be spent on upkeep and quallity of life for the local citizes, 10% of the annual value of the resource extraxted will go to the country government.

In total that is 22% so the company gets to keep 78%, seems resonable to me.

I have been using a pair of Roth Audio OLi-RA1 speakers with my computer, they are real stereo speakers and require an amplifier to wire them up and power them.

The are excellent speakers, good general speakers, and not that expensive.

I don't use a subwoofer, but it isn't really needed for me, I do miss some sub bass, but that never bothered me.

I am currently running them with a no brand Chinese analog amp, from the soubd out on my monitor that is connected to my computer with DisplayPort.

Works great.

I sm considering getting a Dennon RCD-M41 tl replace my amp, but have not had any need to do so in the last eight years.

He is a dick, who used to be important for wikileaks but has kept tergeting specific angles for his leaks, which seems to indicate pushing a political agenda, which reduces trust in him and his platform.

The work he started is too important to leave in his care.

Example: During the DNC email leak, Wikileaks was clearly in a rush to publish the documents without removing credit card information and social security numbers, this is just sloppy.

Assange also worked to draw out the release of documents to increase Wikileaks publicity, this went on far enough that he publicly made announcements of releases that never came.

Wikileaks also published evidence that the DNC was behind the killing of Seth Rich, a DC staffer that Assange alluded to have given him the emails, this evidence came from a PI who has freely admitted not having seen any emails between Wikileaks and Seth not having seen the laptop containing the emails, or even having spoken with someone who had. The PI in question is a known FOX contributer.

Assange also seems to have weirdly close ties to Russia, he only had his morning talkshow broadcast on RT, supposedly they were the only ones to take up his show for syndication.

When he was first exiled, he requested that the Russian security service FSB should handle his security detail.

Today, the largest sponsor of Wikileaks is the Russian Government.

All of this speaks to Wikileaks not being the supreme beacon of free speach, but rather part of the Russian propaganda machine.

I don't think it started this way, Assange and Wikileaks probably started with the best of intentions, but the reality of our society came into play and Assange/Wikileaks sold thier credibillity for money from the Russian government.

Oh, absolutely!

I get why they accepted the money, but they doesn't seem to have accepted the consequences yet.

And I don't have an answer as to how to solve the issue.

We need an organization like Wikileaks, but no one will want to fund it, as they don't want their skeletons out of the closet.

The only way I could see it working would be if someone inherits shitload of money, and funds the organization directly, else there are allways conflicts of interests.

I have had to say this many times lately, just because something is propaganda, doesn't automatically make it false.

The best propaganda is the truth.

Since you clearly have no idea of how propaganda works.

The B-25 bomber and Boeing 767 airliner are two very differet aircraft.

The WTC towers and the Empire State Building were also very different buildings.

So there events are not really comparable.

Checkout the Well There's Your Problem podcast about the WTC buildings and the attack.

It is three hours long, quite rambly and full of dark humor, but digs quite deep into the time the towers where constructed and the issues that it caused during the attack.

2019 was a shit year for me, I got mycoplasma just before going abroad on a work trip, I thought it was just a cold, and remember thinking in the taxi that it was going to be a shit week having a cold the entire trip.

Well, it was worse than that, much worse, I could hardly work at all, and nothing I did made me better.

The only relief I got was taking a shower and cough up phlegm sonthst I could sleep, only the hotel reception called me sbout flooding the floor I was on (this was a fancy hotel), and when a technician came up to look at it he half accused me of "splashing and deliberately using the shower outside the bathtub", something I never did, so I got terrified that I would loose my job because of that since I had used my company credit card (as I should).

But i got a few hours if sleep, and decided I needed to get into a shower again, so I did, and was very careful, but the reception rang again, and sent out a new technician, this guy was way better and actually took a look under the bathtub and found out that the sealing agaibst the wall was fucked, I have never felt such instant relief, it wasn't my fault!

I got a new fancier room for the last night, and the flew home.

A week later I was diagnosed with pneumonia in one lung, and got penicillin, the pills were too big so I could not swallow them, I tried to dissolve them in water to drink them, but the taste allmost made me throw up, so it took about an hour to slowly drink the penicillin every time.

I didn't get better and got to hospital, I was admitted and stayed for two nights, I got penicillin striaght in to the blood ans well as drip and finally started getting better.

When I was discharged I got stronger penicillin pills that dissolved easier and didn't taste revolting.

All in all I was out sick for 1,5 months.

Then in 2022, that year sucked as well, got double heel spurs, flat feet and a bad knee.

It took me a year of painkillers and walking home crying from the bus every day to get it sorted, new inlays and excellent Brooks shoes to get it sorted

The last plane crash into a building in NY before 2001 was back in 1946, when a transport aircraft from the US Army Air Forces flew into 40 Wall Street.

That was 55 years before 9/11, and 20 years before construction of the twin towers was started, it was believed to be a solved problem, which in context wasn't that unreasonable.

Did all the radio stations use custom music?

European here, this is just wrong, I don't use WhatsApp, nor does my friends or family

I know of two buildings sort of like that, they both look like a bungalow office building with an empty parking lot and a card reader by the door, one building has plastered over windows, the other has normal but dirty windows

My sister worked at a dairy for a while, they both made the name brand version of cottage cheese as well as the off brand. They made several brands of cottage cheese, so you are abolutely right that different brands of product are made in tye same factory, but depending of the brand or country it was shipped to the recipie was changed slightly based on the customer's request.

I was suckered into the shark cards on GTA Online, I worked terrible hours and it was my escape.

I bought shark cards for thousands of SEK ocer a year or so, not much in compared to normal whales, but I did feel the addiction drawing me in harder.

Then one day I had just had enough, and uninstalled the game, else I knew I would continue.

I am glad though, the money I spent was not wasted, it taught me a valuable lesson about what to look out for, and how to recognize sinkholes like this.

The point is that he had/has an interest in keeping Russia happy, that means that everything WL has published since taking Russia's money is probably only to the detriment of the west.

That doesn't mean that WL publishes false/fake information, however true propaganda is still propaganda and serves a political agenda.

By allying themselves with Russia, WL has made it clear that they are only really focusing on the west's transgressions, and will mostly ignore Russia's.

They are no longer impartial activists, they have taken sides, but still claim to be impartial.

That is the issue
