It may be fine but the issue as I understand it is Japan isn’t being totally transparent about their testing or allowing outside inspection.

I haven't heard anything about that - the IAEA is happy, as are South Korea and all the experts I've heard speak on the matter. Japan's environment ministry has also been sampling sea water after the release and will give the results on Sunday. Everything seems.to be on working to keep the tritium at levels significantly lower levels than the WHO safe levels (and well below the levels in waste water from other nuclear power plants, including China).
