It doesn't matter, their goal is to get what they want. They will do anything to get it. Blatant lies are just part of the job.
If he wasn't lying, I'd honestly think the freedom caucus is right and McCarthy isn't a Republican after all.
McCarthy has what he wants, he is just trying to hang on to it. Anything he does is to just not get voted out as Speaker. I don't believe he has any longer term plans than that. Which makes him so dangerous. The Chaos Caucus basically gets whatever they want.
