Hi, I'm fairly new to the fediverse. Is there any alternatives for Facebook marketplace out there?

Unfortunately not. I think some areas have hashtags for that kind of stuff and someone is working on a new platform, but it's not there yet.

Awesome, It will be interesting to see what it develops into!

marketplace is one of the last things holding me back from jumping off that platform I think.

Same. I only install and use FB when I need to sell something
