Communities from other instances either “load” with a 404: couldnt_find_community or have a near empty front page (I guess it’s not updated to have newer posts?)

Is this a limitation of my instance (feddit.de)?

I tried through URL (feddit.de/c/community@instance) and through feddits search function (!community@instance) What I described happens with the former; with the latter the community is not found
