Huawei’s rumored tri-fold might hit the market at twice the cost of other foldables

A fresh rumor suggests that Huawei is looking for ways to cut costs on its tri-fold smartphone.

What happened to the rolling screen prototypes?

I think they're still in the prototype stage. The displays probability won't be mass produced or sold until they can improve the durability and lower production costs.

So instead of keeping a phone roughly the size of a pocket in your pocket, they expect us to want to put "bricks" in our pockets that unfold into phones.
