I'd love to build an actual good transit system that encourages people not drive downtown but instead I'd love to build tons of park and rides. Usually my cities have massive metro systems that span well into the suburbs (like I desperately wish would happen here in America), but for those who just are a bit too far I'd love to build a parking lot next to (or hell, underground next to) the metro station
Park & rides AND neighborhood stops. Would be a cool optimization and a good way to get people's minds flowing in a good direction for transit mindsets.
I'm lucky to live in a city with a decent mix of both. It's so nice being able to get to work quickly without needing a car, and in my cities they will be given the same basic care
I'm curious if they will let us zone buildings next to a pedestrian-only roads. Like making small alley markets or tight European old cities.
Or perhaps some castle walls and turrets with some ploppable castles
Or a "mixed use" building zone which serves as both commercial and residential with shops downstairs and apartments above.
It doesn't really matter, it's going to be modded to hell and back 😎
I love Cities Skylines, it's my go to game to actually relax (very welcome as a parent of 2 small kids). There's something about making cities that's just so.... Perfect.
Looking forward to Cities Skylines 2 but it looks like I need a better PC to play it, which is not happening soon.
I'm excited about the updated traffic sim. My CS games always just ended up being how to best plan roads to avoid the bad AI.
I never thought about this, but this is absolutely true when I build my cities." I can't build a four-lane highway here because they're just going to use one lane anyway"
I'm mildly curious about the changes to transportation infrastructure in 2. I never played just a ton of the first game but I'm wondering if the growing interest in public transportation and reduced automobile infrastructure will affect the game any.
I remember seeing something about no parking spaces in the first game due to how much empty space it created, but maybe I'm wrong.
I played the crap out of the first one for 3 years or so, took a couple year break, then when I came back to it, I had $100 or so worth of DLC I was missing. I couldn't get enthusiastic about it again after that.
