That is an excellent article. Growing up and spending most of my life in first world countries makes some of the things that I read and see about Haiti almost seem like fiction, like I can't imagine that actually happening to people living in the same reality as I do. Along with making me understand how lucky the circumstances of my life have been, and how grateful I should be, it also makes me realize that we have to fight for the kind of peace and prosperity that we want, that it's never guaranteed.
There was a series of articles posted to McSweeney's earlier this year that I found interesting and gave a perspective that I hadn't seen in other reporting about Haiti. I recommend them to everyone.
