How much do you want to bet that US evangelicals were pushing this?
this is basically a given. proselytization and evangelical pressure is responsible for the vast majority of bills like this in Africa. they're not exactly natural expressions of where people are at and most of them would not happen without overt support from evangelical groups.[^1]
