Mike DeWine and his gang of criminals have 0 respect or shred of integrity and ethical province. His old PUCO chairman got indicted today from back in 2019 with the FirstEnergy scandal. Ohio republicans are a fucking scourge.

Someone tell my boss this, they don’t understand agile. They think we can “start the process” of developing a solution before we’ve understood a single thing about what the customer needs.

Looks around. You guys are still streaming?

You should always use a VPN, doesn’t matter if the tracker is public or private. And yes, better selection, seeding requirements, and better speeds.

Just found out about the wefwef PWA app which is pretty damn good as an Apollo replacement. Hopefully it can be a native iOS app in the future. Definitely made me ease into Lemmy a lot easier. Hope good things for the future.

I feel like we’re seeing the inherent flaws of the fediverse here in some aspects. A completely democratic spread or spread in general of communities doesn’t seem like it’s going to work. Real people and infrastructure are behind making sure instances with communities that serve large amounts of user requests stay up and operable. Infrastructure costs people and money, and people with right skills and fundraising skills are not evenly distributed.

If an instance touts itself to be a mega-instance, that’s one thing. Lemmy is still a confusing place to understand if I should create my own community or join one. Some communities and instances have a lot more % active users and moderators than others.

People are also lazy. Hosting your own instance is “easy” until you have a popular community, or handful of popular communities. Unless you treat it like a job, not a whole lot of people are interested in spending time figuring out fundraising and dev ops to ensure their community can deal with future user growth.

Money, talent, and physical infrastructure aren’t evenly and fairly available. So it makes it difficult to produce a federated universe that doesn’t reflect these things.

Can’t expect new users to go down the rabbit hole of trying to understand what instance they should make an account on. All instances will grow over time and we are seeing a lot of unevenness because of factors stated above. Instances will surely balance out as time goes on, so I think whoever is prematurely attacking large instances—whether they are doing so for fediverse axiom related issues or not—is making fundamental mistakes of fediverse theory.

Some Netflix shows that are in 4K have not been showing up in private trackers lately

Good news, they won’t work anymore anyway because of Elons walled rotting garden.

Use wefwef.app

I can sympathize with a lot of the struggles you’ve endured. I deal with a lot of the same things and I’ve started to look elsewhere because for a company of 15, this place is run like a train wreck.

Just got off my stand up meeting too, we have to cancel todays grooming session because the project manager is on vacation. How will we survive without them repeating buzzwords and nodding like they understand what we’re talking about??? No shared responsibility for this team. It’s back to the waterfall method; and my boss likes throwing rocks off of the cliff. Every man for themself!

“Add support for another vendor”

“Okay I understood what you wanted perfectly without any context, I’ve also compiled, pushed, and upgraded your customers”

Some people think it will really be that easy. Maybe 50 years from now, but not with these generative models lmao.

If you get a YouTube music subscription can you use it to rip higher bitrate audio? I thought free videos bitrate was capped, I’m just using yt-dlp to archive videos/channels at the moment

You need good trackers and tags to filter to good releases, otherwise the default quality profiles and tags will not do the heavy lifting.

Managed to get an invite to a decent private tracker with a great selection. Ever since the downfall of RARBG I’ve basically been 90% private for most of my stuff. I relied very heavily on it. Like someone else said, public occasionally has things the private ones don’t. Private trackers may integrate public items into their communities.

I might as well! Our website hasn’t been updated since 2016 and we don’t know what customers already have a solution to the one we sell. They’re running on decade old market research, and have pretty much abandoned the idea of getting large customers since our sales team (which is also my bosses, we don’t have a dedicated sales position) doesn’t perform. Instead my bosses are chasing after smaller customers that provide smaller profit margins?? And this is all on the assumption that they’ll be interested in our product when federal subsidies start to be handed out to our industries customers.

In short, we’re fucked.

Exactly. We’re not inventing an iPhone or anything. Extremely niche software that is losing market space every month while the PM’s sit around and prioritize the wrong things, there’s no strategy.

It’s worth it when you can have it (forever). There’s always some price of admission, nothing in piracy is ever really free. You can certainly circumvent any blockades with a VPN and find a way to use crypto to fund the paid plan.

Spotify streaming quality isn’t great anyway. Choose a different streaming service like Tidal which has actively maintained tools to get what you need

Hmm. Sounds a lot like something /u/spez said. I wouldn’t expect Twitter to be a good LLM source with its current state anyway…Reddit would be a lot better contextually. The reality is Reddit and Twitter are bleeding cash and they’ve got brain-rotted CEOs that don’t pay their bills or have unrealistic plans and timelines for profitability.
