Which one is that one?

Ah yes. There's actually quite a lot of jokes that feel more controversial in retrospect but yeah that one's pretty bad

Mobile devices doesn't necessarily just mean smartphones, but I'm also curious about the statistic

This isn't an ad, it's a suggested result from one of our partners

You are both correct, the law states that it has to be as easy to opt out as in, but most companies are not implementing it correctly

What should it do? It should ask you to confirm the login with a configured 2FA

"It's 2024! Why are people still trying to classify nuts? Just use some expensive cloud solution that doesn't really solve your problem"

They may eventually get dragged there kicking and screaming but will milk consumers in other markets for every penny they can before that happens

Also doesn't allow you to export so you can't switch to another service

Am I out of touch?

No, it's the rest of the world that's wrong

Yes, then about this would have!

That's ridiculous, quoting harassment is in no way itself harassment. That would undo just about every awareness campaign ever.

"It was funny when I used to do it but now I don't like them anymore so everyone else should stop."

I thought it was pretty thorough throughout

Take this with a pinch of salt but what I'm gathering is that it's essentially just taking people's public profiles but the Duolingo api also exposes users' e-mail addresses (and possibly other info) that isn't normally displayed as part of the user's public profile via their app.

In essence, they're exposing more data than they probably should be and users were not really aware that data was being made public - that's why people are upset about it.

I Object to your terrible pun

Learned this lesson the hard way, once bought a cheap replacement laptop charger for one that had broken.

It didn't work and instead borked the backlight of my screen. I then discovered that on this model, the backlight couldn't be separately replaced, had to buy and fit a whole new screen and then also buy another replacement charger.

I think you mean the Windows Linux for Subsystem

Could it be the update was to patch a safety recall issue and so without the update, the car isn't considered safe to drive?

Not really surprising, Microsoft has been going a lot harder on the PC and cloud front, so it makes sense that their audience is split between those and Xbox, meanwhile Sony exclusives are only available on PS5.

This is pretty much the same situation as when Apple faced bankruptcy a while back and Microsoft essentially bailed them out.

Having an effective monopoly is better than a literal one for legal reasons

I think this is kind of the opposite of what OP was asking about.

What "perks" did people create for themselves?

Android Subsystem for Windows

Think you might have confused iOS and MacOS

They only said that snippet was present, not that all of the client code was the same

They probably didn't forget it but it's not preventing you from asking about random stuff

The enhanced permission api was a huge step forward but plenty of apps still just demand permissions up front and lock you out until you grant them

It's my native language and I have no idea what they're getting at either.

Don't worry...

Care to elaborate?

I think that'll only really start to happen once you start getting more of the general population on here.

Reddit always had a reputation for being dominated by techy people, that is significantly more so the case here.

Signing up for Lemmy, even knowing where to start is a bigger leap than it is over there. Personally I'm hoping third party apps will be able to help with that by offering some kind of setup wizard with easy options of suggested instances to join.

The thing about USB C dongles is that some contain their own DAC and others don't.

The former is already universal so what you're asking for exists but these are generally more expensive and the quality may not be as good as a pass through adapter if your phone has its own built-in.

On a different point about streaming to multiple devices, my phone (Realme) has a feature to use both the jack and Bluetooth headphones simultaneously which is great for the sharing use case without a splitter.

Would be great if it also supported multiple Bluetooth audio simultaneously.

It says "not on an authorized cartridge or console", the latter would cover legitimately downloaded games. Agree on the other points though.

Homo means same, and phile means phile.

And that concludes our intensive three week course

I use Curve Pay to do that, but it might only be available in some countries.

Also the NFC payment feature isn't in the version that's on Google Play.

I believe there's another app called iCard which supports it but I've never used that.
