When faced with a series of unfortunate events, I make a series of poor choices.

for those who haven't read the woman's FB post, here is a clip:

"..were attacked on Saturday night by a group of 7-10+ middle eastern men, believed to be from Syria, aged 18-25"

Canada has a lot of issues at this moment, stemming in part from increased immigration in the last 3 years (causing housing issues, etc). This sort of event, "brown people beating up white women" could be a dangerous racial catalyst.

I hope this gets dealt with as a single incident, but given current affairs, I am not optimistic.

I am appalled that people continue to not make headline (heh) puns about hairstyle issues at Barber Hill High School.

Was that the sound of Putin unzipping?

Remember, "active users", not "total accounts", so they're probably Russian bots.

more to the point: fuck the McDonnell Douglas Corporation. Oh, fuck them both, sure, but Boeing died a long time ago. It's just McDD wearing Boeing like a horrific skin suit.

Yep! Often the math is "the people who pirated probably wouldn't have bought your product if they couldn't pirate it, so you didn't lose anything. But you did gain a reader, who can now recommend it to others, and / or make future purchases themselves". Generally speaking, pirating isn't bad to the bottom line (not saying it's good).

It hurts brick and mortar stores, but then, so do libraries. (Hah)

he's really not as bad as the whiners make him out to be. He's not Bernie Sanders, sure, but few are.

So, 100% of men have below average IQs?

Because that's just as valid as any other interpretation of this.

The ex-CEO said that he was dating the woman who sued him before hiring her at Tradeshift in 2014, which he called a “grave error of judgment." He also noted that the "plaintiff went on to work for Tradeshift for approximately five more years after our relationship ended."

This raises so many red flags to me.

I can't comment on the alleged activities, and we don't know her financial or emotional situation in 2014 when she was hired, but it sounds waaaay more complicated than "boss treats random new chick as sex slave".

I hope she's in a better place now (mentally and emotionally).

I... flying squid. Right. Go on ahead, sorry to disturb you.

Good.

13 people is a pretty piss-poor basis for an article.

Coverage is from frequency, not generation of signal encoding.

The benefit is you can reuse the frequency bands for something better, like 5G. That's what they did in my country, among others. So, now we get 5G on 3 different frequency ranges. High speed and long range.

those bits on a car are called "brakes". When a brake breaks, it's a broken brake and needs to be fixed.

They don't want to follow the regulations, so they're being kicked out. Regulated.

her clip is pretty good though:

Trump: And then their campaign says I’m the prosecutor, and he is the convicted felon-[CUT] Harris; "I am Kamala Harris and I approve this message"

it's a nice truncation.

death by own car is probably the pinnacle of poor UX.

I do think it's hilarious how you're viciously defending fraud and pyramid schemes. "People MUST be allowed to rob other people, and Apple MUST help and support theft!"

Just amazing.

Me, I like looking at Wikipedia's data:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States_in_2023

  • 2023, jan-jul: shootings: 427, 6 at schools
  • 2022, same: 441, 3 at schools
  • 2021, same: 413, 0 at schools (thanks covid!)
  • 2020, same: 344, 2 at schools

I think we can safely say 2023 is a bad year for schools, but a normal year for mass shootings in the USA.

Because it's perfectly normal to have hundreds of mass shootings every year and doing nothing about it. Amazing.

Meanwhile, in Australia, the pricing structure and availability of Starlink is so competitive that it is demolishing the national/ state-owned infrastructure (NBN co), who are haemorrhaging users to Starlink.

In part because the previous conservative government ruined the network for pricing and in part because of the superior performance of the lower satellites. Either way, Starlink is faster and cheaper than infrastructure the citizens already own.
