The problem is most people are computer illiterate. Hell, illiterate in general.

So there would have to be some host that has an easy to use personal social network object thingy and well, there you have it: new platform.

Until there’s some kind of open source standard that anyone can obtain, setup, host, use and maintain all on their own without learning more than the most minuscule amount of new knowledge, the platform will be where they flock. People just don’t want to learn anything.

Lol likewise!

I used to use OneDrive but they recently shrunk down everyone’s free storage capacity to laughably small space and now wish for everyone to subscribe to more paid space.

🖕🏼bye bye OneDrive.

It definitely will be. Thousands of sci-fi writers warned us, but noooooo humanity has ZERO self-restraint. We’re already as good as gone, and not just because of AI. Climate mutilation, insatiable list for wealth at the expense of everyone, combined with AI. We are already as good as extinct. Fate accompli.

On Reddit there were literally bot armies by which thousands of votes could be instantly implemented. It will become a problem if votes have any actual effect.

It’s fine if they’re only there as an indicator, but if the votes are what determine popularity, prioritize visibility, it will become a total shitshow at some point. And it will be rapid. So yeah, better to have a defense system in place asap.

I don’t know how anyone is pro AI anything other than the pigs making money from it. Only bad can result of it. And will.

I mean… haven’t they been surviving purely on inertia for a while already?

Where I live you cannot get any fruit that doesn’t have the goddamn sticker.

Yeah votes are the worst metric to measure anything because of bot voters.

It doesn’t have rights until it slides out of the vagina or cesarean section. Until that moment it’s none of anyone’s business but the mother.

And it’s not the government or Facebook or any fucking one else’s place to criminalize this, or to presume to have a right to have any say in the matter.

I’m a male white democrat but I don’t even lean as far left as many fellow liberals. I’m close to left center. Nevertheless, it astounds me how many people put a line where the baby “could” potentially survive. So what? It’s still in the mother’s body it’s still part of her body. And it’s nobody else’s right to have any say about it whatsoever - except arguably a minor vote to the father, a little bit. But ultimately this whole criminalization is not about life at all, but about politics and economics.

So you’re saying commenters are jerks - which is out of his control - then you speculate that you “wouldn’t be surprised if he has changed for the worst”

This is how a bad reputation spreads - through speculation and low effort commentary. You’ve said nothing valid but insulted the guy without any basis.

Not attacking you here - we all get lazy, but cite a personal interaction or observation of him specifically. Because otherwise you could just be besmirching a genuinely decent guy who’s trying his best.

Personally, I think he’s doing extraordinarily good things for the consumer world without a shred of reward for his efforts. Every gigantic company that enjoys screwing over consumers for extra profits hates him and tries to derail his work at every turn. He certainly doesn’t need to be shit on by someone who’s going purely on conjecture. So please don’t. :)

Just wait and see.

The article reads like it was written by AI to begin with. I can’t take it seriously.

Ah ok. Yeah I thought the markdown was the same as reddit being markdown but it used to have a toolbar.

Thanks for response.

Also I’ve wondered why don’t they have an underline markdown.

Stupid to talk about anything on Facebook.

If it had been phone company turning over text messages then I’d be livid. But seriously who fucking trusts Facebook with that kind of thing? After everything they’ve done that’s been proven why would anyone trust them with an iota of private information?

Yeah seriously there’s literally nothing to defend them about anything. Even doing so with something technically accurate is just plain blind.

May I ask how do you format your text? My format bar has disappeared from wefwef.

I knew it sounded familiar. I remember this.

Honestly though, if anything things have only gotten worse not better.

If only people could be united to sacrifice one giant company make an example of them. But you couldn’t get ten Americans to fart in synchronicity unless you were paying them and their streaming services were offline. “Revolutionary changes for the better to our economy? Nah, I’m good.”

No, that wasn’t a correlation. Only bad can result from it. Also, companies making profit love it. Separate things.

Basically yeah. I’m sure they’re not shy about the lies they peddle, just selling their services to whoever has no qualms about using them.

You ever moderate a YouTube comments section? It’s nearly a full-time job. And it would be one thing if he were just a YouTuber, but the guy does a ton of good in the real world, for real people.

And behave is like beehive!
Good luck sleeping tonight lol.

Dude it’s not really called complicit anymore they’re effectively a subsidiary of the government.

Yes I read the whole enshittification article; loved it!

Working fine right now.

They could have said okay here you g… oooops jeez it’s gone. Wow how did that happen. Oh well.

They’re a branch of the government at this point. Call it investing in avoiding the kind of scrutiny they should have been under the moment they started psychological experiments on the public.

They admitted to it but I don’t see Zuck the fuck in jail do you?

It’s fine now.

What can I say; I don’t read what random strangers say when my purpose of watching his videos is his videos. And I don’t hold him accountable for what those strangers say. I’m just focused like that. To each their own.

How many roads must a man walk down?

It’s nothing but a cesspool now. He killed it.

Spez claimed that there are no plans to shut old.reddit down. We’ll see.

I have been using laser for so long, while so many people use ink. I could always understand it if you needed to print photos on photo paper genuine photo quality, but laser - both monochrome and color, has always served me well. I could never understand why people went with ink, except maybe people so tech illiterate they just went to the store and bought what they were recommended (by a sales representative who knows they make a much higher markup in the long nrun by selling inkjets).

It’s that they know that it’s more profitable to seek forgiveness than to ask permission.

Get sued? Hah; okay see you in court in ten years. Meanwhile, profit. They can do it over and over and it will always be beneficial.

There needs to be SEVERE sanctions for these violations. Like in the millions. That’s the only way they’d stop. They just don’t care at all.

You know exactly what the reason is. To sell the info. Because money. And more money.

Yeah it’s not even a discussion whether they could fight something like a subpoena, and even companies that would like to sometimes can’t afford to do it. But Facebook practically works for them, they seem to have some kind of arrangement behind the scenes - if not an out and out partnership. They are glad and willing always to provide the government with everything they ask for.

Maybe this is how Zuck the schmuck has stayed out of jail for the shit he’s done; maybe he’s worth far more being their espionage tool.

Between them and Amazon just collecting data and handing it over to any TLA that wants it.

Any mobile web apps for kbin I can use for iPhone? Like wefwef for Lemmy?

Well the more fucked it gets, the quicker it burns. After what they’ve done I’ll be glad to see it go. Spez poured the accelerant, he struck the matches and tossed them around. All the while being pled with and warned at the same time, that what he was doing was wrong. Burn, baby, burn.

Lol stewards.

He was referring to app developers who charged for license or for premium features. Those people “profited” or at least, took in revenue.

Uh, we could just behave like adults, instead?
