I just realized I'm taking my ad-free experience in Lemmy for granted. It's refreshing to have a little corner of the internet that doesn't slam you with advertising.

I can't imagine having paid money for reddit bux.

Not too quirky or obscure but I really just like to fix shit. Clocks, washing machines, cars, crooked door, hole in a sweater, electronics... Nothing is outside of my interest.

On the more obscure side I like to fiddle with wrist watches by adding aftermarket parts and modifying their overall look.

Is there an option to report accounts / comments? Are bots even forbidden? I'm with you, Reddit was a bot shit show and I'd love to see a space with zero bots. I think even the utility bots like unit conversion added very little value.

I did it for about a month and and loved it. We got an Airbnb in Arizona. We woke up early, clocked out early, and went hiking nearly every day. The weekends we did a trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, both great experiences. If you can make it work, then try it out. I know tons of people that maintain jobs while travelling almost full time.

Per hospital billing, that's probably a $10,000 sweater.

He makes a point, I shouldn't be tipping anyone.

I saw this while in Mexico and really liked the idea. I was then immediately bummed out when realizing almost everything had that label on it and buying food without excess sugar and salt was a lot trickier.

I feel like I've run away from the city to join an happy little hippy commune in the back country. We all wear white and worship to a mouse now, but it's fun!

A friend had this mantra of "You do you." that I've really embraced. Stop giving a shit about the things you don't agree with or views other people are into. I'm not looking to change minds, just being personally receptive and open is enough for me.

It's pretty interesting to see how people give and interpret ratings in the US vs. Asia for example. In the US it seems like less than a mid-four is a gamble, in Japan you get some great restaurants hanging around at 3.0+. The reviews will say like "Everything was perfect great food, 3 stars".

I have the opposite of Spidey sense and will frequently forget I'm cooking something if I don't set a timer.

I was new to a school and decided to skip class with a bunch of classmates I barely knew. One guy goes to the bathroom and comes back and stands right behind me. I look up and he is completely naked except for a sock on his dick hovering right above my head.

We've been great friends for close to 18 years and I just got to meet his two kids.

Reddit was an awesome site when that god-awful phase was popular.

Pretty sure the article is satire. Here's something similar from Snopes. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/cassidy-boon-drowning/

From the original article: "I could have died peacefully, but now I am living a nightmare; I was sexually assaulted in broad daylight by the only person who was sober at the party; what are the chances?.”

This article reads like bottom tier AI generated noise. It's more like advertising under the guise of tech reporting.

Look up the green "Asian body scrub" cloths. They're next level wash cloths that exfoliate, dry fast, and are washable. Bonus, they're super cheap. I swear by them and can't ever go back to other scrubbers.

It's the next generation of future amputees and casualties that'll bear the weight of these unexploded cluster munitions.

I use it daily, they even have a mobile version called Seeker which is pretty nice.

Yeah seriously, there's nothing wrong with admitting you made a mistake.

Still over here waiting on quality corner text.

Unfortunately, it looks like the wave of bots is inevitable. I think I'll just end up sticking to the niche communities and yelling get off my lawn.

At first I was wondering why Musk was eating Sonic and what their relationship is...

The best part is it tastes even better the second day.

I got about a month on a disposable safety razor, but I don't have much to shave.

Iceland is quite beautiful, I didn't camp but I recall the park areas being quite fierce about not venturing off of walking paths to protect sensitive things like moss that take forever to grow. That may be a reason why they don't allow dispersed camping. I'd say still go, it was beautiful in the winter and I didn't find it too crowded or unbearably cold.

I'm the opposite of spiritual so the closest I've experienced is that euphoric feeling you get when you see unparalleled beauty in nature. Places like the Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons, Yukon, Alaska, volcano in Guatemala, and some waterfalls in Mexico are a few that spring to mind.

The Super Mario movie is probably top of the list. The jokes fell flat and the entire movie was just Nintendo references. I get it's a kid movie, but damn, Pixar knows how to make a movie for all ages. I guess I was hoping for the same.

Yeah so an example of throwing on aftermarket parts:

Start with your base watch, I picked up a cheap Invicta dive watch like so https://files.catbox.moe/bnxgcp.jpg

Slap on some aftermarket hands, bezel, faced, and sand the bracelet for a nice brushed finish. https://files.catbox.moe/mo52xw.jpg

This is a watch restoration I was attempting. Did a poor job but learned quite a bit. https://files.catbox.moe/9bv3pa.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/2kwaka.jpg

If you're interested, check out /r/seikomods. Reddit has a pretty awesome community for it.

It depends entirely on the bug and moreso the seasoning. I've eaten my share of ants and crickets in Mexico and South East Asia and the taste can vary wildly. I recall tasting the seasoning more than any buggy flavor.

On a side note, raw goat blood soup tastes exactly like you think it would... never again.

Doom, total classic. In that same vein, did you ever play Hexen? I recall it being a pretty cool medieval/ magic Doom.

Rocket Jockey! Although I found a few other fans recently in retro gaming. It's a Sega Soft title where the entire premise is riding around on rockets engines and using cables to yoink and tripline your opponents off their rockets. Once they're on the ground, it's a lot easier to run over them and drag them around the arena. All this fun set to a bitchin' surf rock soundtrack by Dick Dale.

I've just learned to accept I will suck at every multiplayer game I ever play. Sorry, team.

I visited an abandoned roadside attraction in Thailand. It was a replica of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, but it looks like it was never completed and now sees only the occasional tourist. There are shops and things right next to it, so maybe it's more semi-abandoned.

I can't claim to taste it everywhere, you could probably slip it by me in something. But with sugar free drinks across the board, they all have this bizarre sickly, sweet taste from the sweetener that I just can't stomach.

I suppose this thread is full of clean eating herbivores and I'm the only one that enjoys a packet of chips or cheese.

Anything missing from the collection or is it complete?

Plastic container + sheet of paper, then chuck it into the yard.

Awesome, enjoy! I was in the same position and super happy to find it.

I think the option for both would be acceptable, I'd be ok to pay a few bucks to maintain an ad free haven.
