Yup. Folks looking for stuff to be salty about. Those admins were protecting their hides and had every right to do so. Hosting carries risks. What could have been handled better was communicating this (a day or three beforehand + not on Discord lmao). The people acting like this is some sort of unforgivable problem are just being dorks. Don't like it? Pop onto a new instance. It's easy and is a perfect example as to why Lemmy is great.

Edit: Worth mentioning that the piracy community is among the most active groups on the entire platform. As a viable alternative to reddit, I don't think piracy being the face of Lemmy is a great look. Newcomers may start on LW and never need or want this community. Those who want it WILL find it.

Not aware of any cracks. I use the felddy image on my Unraid setup and the first window on a fresh install asks for the license. Same goes for when I run locally on Windows. I'm sure there's a crack out there, but I'm not aware of it.

All I can offer is my full endorsement of Foundry. It's worth the money. If $50 is a bit steep at the moment, I think they do offer a small discount with an anniversary sale each year. Not sure when that is exactly.

Switched from paying Roll20 an annoying monthly fee and it's more than paid for itself now. There is even a tool floating around to export active Roll20 games for use in Foundry. I remember it being pretty inefficient, but better than starting from scratch.

Finish carpentry building science labs...as an architect who has recently taken an interest in building science, that sounds interesting. The jump from programmer is interesting, too. Like, did you have prior experience in carpentry, or did you go in blind?

The most recent time I went to get glasses, I asked about blue light frames and the guy stopped me and said something along the lines of, "Don't bother, they're actually bs unless you get the ones with super yellow lenses - those are legit. Or use computer programs to make your screen orange, that can also help. Folks just wanted to find a way to charge more for glasses, and it's been twisted so you actually sound more informed for getting blue light coatings. You'll notice that I didn't mention blue light or even pitch it to you - you brought it up on your own."

Thought that was kind of fascinating and kinda cool of the salesman to talk me out of spending more money.

Household income for me and my wife was around $150k and we got priced out of the city. A lot of Dashers take late night trains deep deep outside of the city, or they live with half a dozen other Dashers on alternating schedules, sharing beds.

Visual designer for websites. There are many others like it. I used webflow for multiple projects and really enjoyed it. Haven't touched it for a couple years though. Once I ran out of commercial projects to use it for, I couldn't afford to keep it for personal use.

Foundry is probably the closest I've seen, considering the non-premium modules are FOSS. Granted, I play Pathfinder (OGL/ORC license), not DnD, so I dunno if Wizards locks their stuff down more to promote using their own services.

Lived in NYC and every time rent rose to where I couldn't afford it, I would have to blow my savings relocating. A few years ago I instead used the money to gtfo of the state entirely. Love that city but god damn if it isn't a huge trap.

Also stuck on Windows but for specific software (Adobe & Revit). Zorin has looked like a promising distro for a little while now, at least coming from Windows.

They sound minor, they look hilarious, but then your smile fades as whatever is causing the bug blocks input to try and get past it, forcing a reload. I'm LOVING this game, but out of the 20 or so hours I've been able to sink into it since launch, a solid 2-3 of those hours have been retracing steps or generally trying to circumvent big bugs.

(Full disclosure: I am playing exclusively on the Steam Deck which I am 99.9% certain is the reason for all of the bugs I face)

Love folks trying new stuff in the construction space. Concrete produces a lot of CO2, but it also lasts forever if you don't demolish it. Seems like the material benefits from having forms (unless I misread it). Would be interested to see how it pairs with a modular system like ICFs (IMFs in this case I guess lol).

I like Enpass. $25 lifetime sub via Stack social. Does the trick. If they ever pull the rug out on lifetime folks, I would go to Bitwarden.

Damn. I don't print much, but I did get my HP printer dirt cheap. Wish there was some sort of hack around this.

I like the idea of using spotdl and yt-dlp but my eyes gloss over as soon as I see that there is no GUI. Lidarr kinda sucks but it gets me pretty close to what I need. Wish I was more comfy without a GUI but don't really have the time to get the hang of it. So it goes.

It's not open source, so that's an easy deal breaker for some. Considering the vaults are encrypted and Enpass itself stores nothing on their servers, I've been okay with it. The vaults just exist on my phone and wherever I've chosen to back it up (OneDrive, GDrive, Nextcloud, NAS, etc).
