Aha - Take On Me ...such a mesmerizing video. A girl reading a comic is sucked into a world in between the two realities. Really cool artistically and you can't help but wish you could see more of the story.

Near Antigonish in Nova Scotia is a forest called Dagger Woods...the sign is right on the main highway. The story goes that a young lady was killed there a few centuries ago and you can hear her screams. First far away and then it slowly gets closer and louder till it's piercing loud. Nothing bad happens but super freaky!

If you haven't already, be sure to convert it to Bluetooth mode from WiFi before the end of December or you won't be able to use it anymore...I only found this out after trying to set it up with my Retropie. The link to the google web tool to convert it is here!

"Oh my god! We're having a fire! Sale!"

The lite version has 4 fewer trackers and 20-ish fewer requested permissions...still pretty crazy. Check them out on Exodus

Definitely hear you there, but wrong flatpak 😉

I miss SU so much...this is awesome!

Pumpkin seeds are a great source of mag (and iron, protein, fiber, etc.) - especially if they are roasted!

Feudal Tactics!. Super simple to pick up but def involves strategy. My favourite android game by far and a great distraction. Can download it from Fdroid!

I'm on Lemmy.ml and am anything but a "tankie". Love it here. Tonnes of tech/varied posts in my main subscribed feed and I've never noticed anything other than a minimal dose of drama...Facebook or Reddit are much more toxic in comparison which is part of the reason I left those places.

I just wiped Windows from my drive yesterday and committed to Fedora after dualbooting for 15 years...I've been maining Fedora for a while and always kept Windows around "just in case", but never actually seemed to need it. This recall/AI spyware was it for me though. Gaming has been a breeze for a while on Fedora/Linux due to Steam/Proton...such a great feeling to finally be completely rid of Windows!

I pointed out the trackers that are included in this app for full transparency...not everyone likes having Google and Facebook on their phone. The inclusion of these trackers also hint that the app isn't open source, which was the initial question. I'm not sure any of this called for such an inflammatory response...

Looks like it has Google AdMob, CrashLytics, and Firebase Analytics trackers...as well as FB Share according to Exodus. While I totally support the cause, this app is definitely tracking/profiting off of it's users behind the scenes.

No worries! Strange of them to put a deadline...I agree the hardware is pretty solid!

Fun fact: St. Augustine started out as a Manichaean! Super interesting stuff even from a purely philosophical POV.

Dragon Age: Origins. Haven't played since it's release and wanted something in the same vein as the original Baldur's Gate...does not disappoint!

I run it through Steam as a "non-Steam" game via Proton and have also run it with Lutris. It runs on both 100% fine, if not even better than Windows. In fact, this game running great has convinced me to finally drop my dual boot!

Microscopic Dwemer spiders!

Really interesting point! Also, what about babies born via IVF that don't technically share a womb at the same time, but were from the same "batch" of sperm and eggs?

Skyrim, without a doubt. That ambiance...

  1. Mark Lanegan - Whiskey for the Holy Ghost
  2. Stone Temple Pilots - Purple
  3. Gregory Alan Isakov - This Empty Northern Hemisphere
  4. Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds
  5. Nick Drake - Pink Moon
  6. Ella Fitzgerald - The Cole Porter Songbook
  7. Ray LaMontagne - Monovision
  8. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
  9. Tonic - Lemon Parade
  10. The Beatles - Abbey Road

Day old account with tonnes of down votes and attacking people just trying to help...you are very clearly a troll. Also, I must be a guy since I'm commenting about tech? 🙄

Yeah, thankfully worked in Brave! I use Firefox (Librewolf) and haven't installed Chrome in years...def annoying but not unexpected from Google!

The graphics are beautiful too!

I've experienced this too. I don't want to disable DND mode but I'm not aware of an alternative...following!

I think the point is to draw global attention to the severity and urgency of climate change. It's such a crisis that the head of the UN is trying to draw attention to it which, I think, is much better for climate change than no attention at all...

There are other privacy-respecting trackers that could be used for app improvement. At the end of the day, Google profits from the data collected here, and Lemmy has a big community of users looking to avoid this. Tangentially, Google also has massive contracts with the Israeli military that have recently come under fire in the news...just another reason to use different app-improvement trackers if the goal is to truly boycott/divest, etc.

Agreed - and Bluey rocks!

Yes! So glad someone else though of this 😎

Definitely true, but I think the problem is there's no DNS out there that blocks everything you want. I've never found a DNS resolver that blocks my TV's telemetry domains, for instance. A pi-hole on a RPi runs super cheap so the quick initial setup adding blocklists is super worth it for me at least.

I have an HP Envy and it has honestly been a dream with any distro I throw at it. I find KDE to have better touch gesture support than Gnome, but I have been running Gnome for a while now and it hasn't bothered me at all.

Check out the Star Trek theme for PiHole! It's one of the default options.

Boost looks nice but the trackers completely turned me off using it for reddit...I'm kind of surprised to see so few people care (especially here!)
