The code states that โ€œmale studentsโ€™ hair will not extend, at any time, below the eyebrows or below the ear lobes,โ€ CNN previously reported.

Why do male and female students have different dress codes? WTF does the school system care if boys have longer hair? Apart from safety issues like being in a workshop class, why does anyone in the school system think they have the right to control who can and can't have certain hair lengths?

Yo, is anyone else getting really sick of this overreach of power and authority? I'm not referring to the economic and political relations. Those aside, I'm talking about this crap where people are starting to get involved in personal matters of appearance, medicine, gender, and even straight bs crap like a high school band finishing a song. This is getting way out of hand. Our culture is rotting with power and control issues at the expense of individual liberties.

Private mental health providers in the US are pretty unsupervised and have a conflict of interest in that they make more money by keeping their patients/clients unwell, which can lead to negligence and abuse. The only thing keeping in line is the possibility of someone informed and insightful enough to report them to the licensing board or pressing a lawsuit.

For example, if a provider has poor integrity, it is in their best interest to not treat depression, but rather help the patient/client feel good for the moment. What the patient/client experiences is that they feel better when they see their provider, so they become dependent on their provider. This ensures the provider a reliable source of revenue.

Another issue is that masters level therapists, while capable of providing treatment for simple cases such as a clear depressive episode, are not properly trained to conduct thorough assessments for complex cases, meaning they can misdiagnose quite easily. Complex cases would be better treated by a well-trained psychologist that can conduct thorough psychometric assessments that are quite sophisticated and take lots of time to analyze. These services are costly and the vast majority of insurance policies won't cover them.

Relevantly, yet another issue is insurance for mental health. Most insurance policies that pay for mental health services pay low, so the care you receive can be substandard since the more effective providers are charging what they're worth in a market economy. One example that comes to mind is Better Help. They pay providers insultingly low, like around $30/hour, while effective providers are charging ~$150/hr out-of-pocket. That means that when someone uses Better Help to obtain care, they're getting the bottom of the barrel therapist.

Lastly, the majority of family and marriage therapists aren't properly trained in narcissistic emotional abuse. This can mean that therapy would not only be a waste of time, but can make things much worse as they can help the narcissist abuse the victim even further. Narcissistic abuse is quite complicated and requires a relationship therapist that specializes in that to properly assess and help the victim escape.

Tips: If you have been seeing a therapist for 12 sessions, and you haven't realized any considerable long-term changes, find another therapist. Also, if your therapist doesn't call you out on your bullshit, let's you ramble about tangential matters, or focuses on helping you overcome specific weekly struggles, rather than helping you develop skills and restructure deep cognitive matters to address them yourself, find another therapist. An effective therapist would develop a clear treatment plan with you that aims to meet objectively measurable goals within a certain time frame.

Note: I am not a therapist. I have just worked in the mental health field and have friends that are therapists.

I still don't understand what business the government has defining sex. How is that in any way the government's job?? If anything, it could be up to medical organizations, such as the AMA, if they had sound arguments. But, the government? I really try to at least understand everyone's logic even if I don't agree with them, but this is just so insane. I don't get it.

ITT: people who have severely underestimated Mozart's musical capacities and contributions.

Mozart is a musician that is studied by nearly any professional musician. There are historians, musical scholars, and museums dedicated to him. He's a household name across the world. He established a period of music. As a teenager, he deciphered a 12 min choral piece with multiple groups and solos after hearing it once and by memory wrote it down later that night (he heard it a 2nd time a few days later for minor corrections). When he presented the score to the clergy, they said he got one note wrong. After investigation, Mozart heard it right. The musician's score was off by a note. Could any popular musician mentioned here decipher just a 6 min song of 4 instrument band after hearing it once with pen and paper ready? Imagine telling any music legend now, "Hey, you're off by a half a step on the 3rd note of bar 28 of your own song."

Comparing an awesome popular singer, guitarist, or band to him is like comparing your friend that got a job at NASA to Einstein. There is no modern Mozart. There have been greats since Mozart, but there haven't been any Mozarts since Mozart. I say this as a Beethoven fan. Mozart was the only Mozart. He was so good, that his name became a title for great musician: Mozart. No one listed in this thread is anywhere near being a Mozart.

Please stop trying to rationalize with them. Please stop tolerating their hate. These people don't care about logic or morality. The guy in the photo at the Nazi rally with the tatted face and meth teeth blames his problems on Jews. They only understand power. That's all they know. That's the only way they'll be stopped.

With that said, can some of y'all come down here to Florida? We've got a Nazi problem that's getting out of control and can use some support. They've been here this whole time in hiding, but since the government has recently been tolerant of their intolerance, they're coming out in pride. They're cowards that blame their own issues on vulnerable people. They don't blame their problems on dominant peoples or cultures in power, just the minorities. So, with enough show of strength, they'll go back into hiding or move away to Argentina.

Look at their little insurrection attempt. One Capitol officer misled them due to their lack of organization, and another officer fired one round. All it took was a distraction to jack up their plans and one shot for them to tuck tail and run. A coup failed due to a deception and one bullet.

Imagine if the real Nazis would have been stopped before they built their war machine. That's where we're at right now. Things can get soooo much worse if we allow them time to gain more power.

I'm so fucking sick of the Florida government. House insurance is astronomical, but they're worried about lab-grown meat, teachers saying gay, and books.

Fun facts!

Origin

The name Marathon comes from the legend of Pheidippides, the Greek messenger. The legend states that, while he was taking part in the Battle of Marathon, which took place in August or September 490 BC,[3] he witnessed a Persian vessel changing its course towards Athens as the battle was near a victorious end for the Greek army. He interpreted this as an attempt by the defeated Persians to rush into the city to claim a false victory or simply raid,[4] hence claiming their authority over Greek land. It was said that he ran the entire distance to Athens without stopping, discarding his weapons and even clothes to lose as much weight as possible, and burst into the assembly, exclaiming "we have won!", before collapsing and dying.[5]

Modern Olympic marathon

When the modern Olympics began in 1896, the initiators and organizers were looking for a great popularizing event, recalling the glory of ancient Greece. The idea of a marathon race came from Michel Brรฉal, who wanted the event to feature in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens. This idea was heavily supported by Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympics, as well as by the Greeks.[15]

My friend was in the invasion of Iraq in 2003. He told me that they were delivering relief food to refugees camped out of the city of an-Nasirya during the Battle of an-Nasirya. While offloading the food from a 7-ton truck onto the ground, there were armed and armored Marines protecting the food to hand it out evenly and orderly. There were women and children present. After a bit, the refugees got too restless from desperation and started storming the food. The Marines could totally have gotten aggressive to set an example, but that would have been ridiculous. The people were starving and living in tents made out of bed sheets and trash out in open fields under the Sun. The Marines moved out of the way and just ensured that no one got hurt in the chaos. War is chaos.

Ok, am I crazy, or is the US screwed?? I'm almost sure that Putin conducted a successful coup with Trump. Trump gave important secrets to Putin and shared the identities of several CIA spies working in Russia. He also appointed 3 Supreme Court justices that are loyal to him. Who knows what else Trump did that is not public knowledge. Biden was our last chance, but I don't think we're going to survive.

"Notorious wife beater says that his wife may have been punched in the face on purpose."

I argued like a couple having a fight with a psychiatrist about me being autistic when I was hospitalized once. We had a literal antagonized fight over me being autistic in front of two other doctors. She raised her voice at and wouldn't believe me even though I told her I had been diagnosed by a psychologist that administered the ADOS, have seen said psychologist for months, my friends that are psychologists are confident I'm autistic, and that I was in special ed classes since 4th grade. I was seeking absolutely nothing related to it; I just happened to mention it in passing when I said I didn't like sleeping at the hospital and missed my bed.

Warning: sarcastic vent session

::: spoiler Tap for spoiler This became the psychiatrist's last stand against Big Autism. She wasn't going to let a patient undermine her absolute authority by them giving her information that she needed to have a thorough understanding of the case. Who do I think I am to know and have an opinion about my entire life and well-being?? As soon as I got home, I threw her prescription in the trash.

I worry about all the other vulnerable patients that she treats and dont have the mental strength to stand up to her, just getting drugged up for whatever would validate her need for control over others.

Bonus: When I was receiving the discharge brief, she raised her voice at and put down a nurse that asked a question about my discharge instructions. Everyone's faces in the room were straight blank like this ๐Ÿ˜. I guess they were used to her abuse. :::

Tertiary education: university professor.

LPT: Talk to your professor and ask questions!!

I have so many students that don't perform well because they didn't understand some material. I'm seriously getting paid to help you understand it, but I can't present it in a way that works perfectly for every student since they all have their own learning styles. I also wont know if they aren't getting it of no one speaks out.

I want:

  • to help
  • everyone to learn the material
  • to talk about science because I'm a super nerd
  • what is and isn't working for you in class
  • students to show up to office hours

I don't:

  • expect anyone to already know something they haven't learned about
  • care if you ask me a million questions
  • want you to perform poorly
  • want you do go to the field unprepared
  • like it when students treat me like they are bothering me
  • grade papers that are ridiculously wrong because students didn't try to ask me for help

The vast majority of university professors are obsessed with what they teach, so much so, that they made a career out of talking about it. Asking then about it would make their day. If you go up to one that seems like they're being bothered, then that's the exception. Don't let that one stop you from engaging with all of the others.

Note: This is true for almost all courses. However, there are some courses in certain universities that are considered "weed out classes". These classes, typically taken in the first 2 years, are informally designed to have lower performing students fail before they advance too far into the major and find out later that they don't have what it takes to be successful in the field. The professors of those classes are more commonly not helpful at all. Don't give me shit about it because I didn't design this system nor do I teach those classes.

I was born in the US to a Russian mother. She moved back to Russia when I was a toddler, and I lost contact with her in my adolescence. I have recently been determined to find her. I have not been able to make any progress on the internet, but I think I would have more success if I go in person and ask around her small town. I have been wanting to do this for the past 2 years. Yet, I'm not stupid enough to go to Russia right now even if it means that my mother may pass in the meantime. If I have a great reason to go and still don't, I don't know what's up with these people that think they'll be fine and go just to hang out. wtf.

I'm not much of a geopolitical expert, but as far as I can tell, the UN really only serves to prevent the 5 countries in the security council from going to nuclear war with each other. The rest is a side effect.

Half of that shit doesn't many any sense. These people are straight up just saying a bunch of bullshit that sounds fancy, but is still bullshit.

The Administrative State holds 100 percent of its power at the sufferance of Congress, and its insulation from presidential discipline is an unconstitutional fairy tale spun by the Washington Establishment to protect its turf.

  1. wtf is "the Administrative State"?

  2. "Sufferance of Congress" what?? That's what Congress decides. Additionally, Republicans currently hold the power of the purse. They also held both chambers in Obama's last years and for Trump's first two years. They didn't do shit about whatever the hell "the Administrative State" is.

  3. "its insulation from presidential discipline" What are they even talking aboutโ€ฝโ€ฝ What the hell is presidential discipline?

  4. "is an unconstitutional fairy tale spun by the Washington Establishment to protect its turf." The Constitution clearly states the structure of our government and the responsibilities of each branch. Also, wtf is "the Washington Establishment"??

I can't even get through the first paragraph. This is complete non-sense.
