I canceled my account.. but yes, sad trombone noises all around.

I'm a nearly 40 year old who decided to have a kid at 30 because my career trajectory looked promising and none of my siblings had kids/my wife and I wanted kids. We're those silly optimists who think if we can raise someone who loves this world and is part of the solution, we can make a difference.

I make roughly 3x the average salary and with just one kid.. I feel like I'm killing myself, doing permanent, irreversible harm to my body and mind with how much I work and how little down time I have.

I feel like life is passing me by while I'm trapped in a dark room churning out investor gains I'll only ever see a fraction of while the execs in my company pull down record profits and eye watering bonuses year after year, but I dare not stop, because like everyone else, I'm one moderate catastrophe away from destitution.

He wasn't joking though. Capitalism go brrrrrrrr.

Sealions gotta sealion ya know.

I'm in the same boat, single income just under $200k, but my savings has stagnated the past three years due to medical bills (wife was hospitalized and is now disabled).

Debt is beginning to pile up and it seems like the only real option is to start cherry picking the more important medical expenses to keep up on and letting the others slide (like the $26k hospital bill).

At the current rate things are going, I'll have no savings and no college fund for my kid along with a stack of unpaid medical bills and needing to downsize to a cheaper home in a worse neighborhood. At least our only car is paid off end of the year and should hold up as long as the last one (made it 12 years, 220k miles).

Living that American dream.

It's literally the opposite of everything you've just said as an IT pro who has managed endpoints for 15 years. Dell is hot, flaming garbage.

Once had a model with a 100% RMA rate (thousands ordered), and I wasn't even surprised.

Then there's the trash bloat apps trying to manage the OS instead of letting it manage itself (Dell Optimizer, etc.) Blech.

Oh.. so close, you almost had it. Trump is the far greater evil masquerading as a lesser evil.

Proud of you for trying though.

This is due to the fact that racist memes are never relevant, automatic downvote!

Some people get off on shocking others with dehumanizing gore etc. when they thought they were in for a dick pick at worst.

So would God, if there were one.

Because you're not a mentally deficient grifter?

Could just say charisma. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And Santa Fe. And Virginia Tech. And El Paso. And Parkland. And UT Austin.

When capitalism is no longer propped up by the government, masquerading as democracy, so that they, too, can greedily profiteer on the short term gains of a quality product that has been ran into the ground for the sake of a bigger personal estate.

Yeah, that's just not how cults work. Especially when the idol is supposedly "counter culture" due to the "deep state" having it out for them.

The more you (deservedly) vilify him, the harder the zealots chant.

Other than peeing while standing being easier and my inability to give birth, I'm not sure I can come up with another 9.9% of the time to fill that gap.

Or a smart phone and just lock everything you don't want them to use out.

What is Batman?

To be fair, the article said MOST, not all, and you've pointed out one of the only examples I can find of the price rising at one location in the last month.. though prices were already low in KC it seems.

How can you not tell? Man's hand is clipping into things, no tshirt is that low cut, his magic cigarette isn't lit and that is certainly not how you spell Coca Cola.

All of those things are immediately noticeable, they jump out at you, but there's probably a billion other tells that it's AI once you stop to process it.
