I expect it's going likely to be used to train some Chinese AI model. The race to AGI is in progress. IMO: "ideas" (code included) should be freely usable by anyone, including the people I might disagree with. But I understand the fear it induces to think that an authoritarian government will get access to AGI before a democratic one. That said I'm not entirely convinced the US is a democratic government..

PS: I'm french, and my gov is soon to be controlled by fascist pigs if it's not already, so I'm not judging...

For anyone like me outside the US wondering what the fuck is GoogleFi : It's a Virtual mobile network provider, using wifi and other provider's network.

Hope I saved you a search.

For me living in france, these prices seems outrageous. For the record I pay 13€/months and got pretty much unlimited everything (130 GiB data is more than I'll ever use in a single months on my phone)

I don't think he does, too busy meeting up with a real girl

Yes there is, you could press it and put in a cocktail !

Seriously though you can very legaly copy the bios from your own officially bought switch, copy your legaly bought cartridge, and use them to play the emulator. All of which is legal, just like you could buy spare parts and build your own switch, and copy the bios from a legaly bought one. I'm not going to pretend people do that, but it is possible to use it in a legal manner.

It would depend how this lab grown meat affects the environment or who produces it, how, what price it is.... I'm not opposed to it, just need to see the details.

I don't understand, the article says of the 7 million after break-even they only got 567, who got the rest of the money ? Where did it go ?

And even then, hundreds of people recieved a salary for a few years, is it not pretty good already ? To be able to sustain all these people ?

I feel there is a good joke here, but I miss the knowledge to understand it. Care to enlighten me?

WTF, we are making videos from text posts now ? It feels so weird... Instead of reading a post in 10s, I get to wait 35s for the video to unfold the text discussion, and youtube gets to puts ads on top of it, what a time to be alive..

I have no idea what this does, I will not try it to find out

Contrary to what I (you) think, most other people are just as smart as me (you), their opinions and behavior that I (you) think are stupid are based on their personal life events and experiences, instead of labeling them "morons" it's better for me (you) to try to understand where they come from and why they think and act the way they do.

Also: if I don't realise how stupid I was yesterday, that means I still am today.

It's called the AI alignment problem, it's fascinating, if you want to dig deeper in the subject I highly recommend 'Robert miles AI safety' channel on YouTube

Sure as long as it's not my bank or my employer or the gov official website for accessing my taxes...

"C'est a genou que l'on aspire le mieux au bonheur"

You would think so but what seems to happen with open source is: for every person with evil intent that sees the flaw and exploit it there is more persons with good intent that sees it and report/fix it.

During that time, closed source have the opposite balance, less people can fix flaws, but the same amount of evil people than open source finds them and exploit them.

Why would they ? I was that kid and I still upvoted his comment, I don't use downvote as a disagree/punish button, I only use it for agressive/uninteresting comment. I think we should upvote any comment that create interesting discussion, even if we disagree with the core message.

Though I agree about 'financial support for content creator' I think our model of copyright doesn't work.

I'd love your opinion

Should a content creator keep making money forever once something is produced ? Would you prefer to buy rather than pirate a movie that was made 100 years ago ? Let's say you never bought any Charlie Chaplin movie, would you buy it if you wanted to watch it ?

The reason I ask is because I'm still unclear myself about what is morally right on this topic. I tend to pirate a lot nowadays because I don't know how to support content creators without filling the pockets of intermediary leeches

Factorio for exemple is marked "great on deck" I tried to play it, it's honestly unplayable, I love the game, I love the steam deck, but that game is not "great on the steam deck". And it is not the only game in this category.

Might be.. the article is really unclear, but I really don't think it is, they already factored in 42million in charges from the 49m.. There something I don't understand with this.

I've seen this coutless times, and as a french native I'm getting tired of this, I want to tell you that no french think of it that way.

You know how you have "eleven" "twelve" and then you switch to "xxteen" for the next 6 number ? You never dissociate them, because that's just the way it is. French are the same "douze", "treize".... and then suddenly "dix-sept" but nobody dissociate them, this is just one word that means "17"

And then it's the same with "seventy", french don't dissociate 60 and 10 in their mind, it's just one word. Sure from an ethymologic standpoint it comes from two word but it's not how we think about it.

When you say "sunday" you never think "day of the sun", when you say "blueberry", "blackberry" you don't think of the color, you think of the particular fruit, everybody can see the origin of the word, but nonetheless the word is one unit.

Anyway. Yes it is weird to learn a new language and see how it evolved into a weird mess, but please know that when you make this kind of comment you don't look like you are well informed about the french language, you just look like kids that have learned a new word and can't stop using it everywhere.

brute force would be "throw at the wall one at a time until one stick"

It's ok, I was mainly making a joke :-) I don't mind a reddit related post every once in a while, it's always funny to see what reddit turned into

In France (and probably other countries too) there is an actual real group of people advocating that we can get all our nutrients from the sun and don't need to eat, they also claim they stare at the sun every day for hours. They make youtube video, and have lots of followers...

Of course they claim exactly what is said in this joke.

I spend too much time on lemmy: I immediately assumed your comment was a meta-joke about lemmy, since every post about a software has a comment about its foss analogue. But now I'm unsure whether you were serious or not. Anyway it made me lol.

There are many build that works, you found one good, I recommend trying other combinations

*insert sad Pikachu with a mustache

We agree. That's exactly what I said in my first comment, factorio is "technically playable". I never said anything about games not "working".

You can plug kb, mouse and also plug-in a bigger screen on the deck, but that's not what people instinctively think about when they hear "great on deck"

Why does the hand looks so weird

Careful with this kind of jokes, it needs to be as obvious as possible that it is one. Some people are morons and can become violent for shit like this. Remember the guy who got shot dressed as a scary clown (probably as a joke)

Change your perception of the task, instead of it being a 'thing that you will be happy to have done' look at it as a 'thing that are happy doing',

for example instead of 'I will be happy to have learned to play the piano so I should force myself to practice' think 'I am happy while practicing the piano' instead of 'I have to do the dishes' think 'I am cleaning these dishes with perfection, and optimising their placement so that they will dry the quickest'

Basically, don't do things for the end goal, do it for the action itself, live in the present, not in the future. There's always enjoyment to get from any chore if you approach it from this mindset.

My partner look at me funny when I put my shirts to dry in ascending color order, and my socks all parrallel, but the truth is, I'm having fun doing it that way, the chore has become a meticulous game that I take pleasure from.

Well godd news then, you can start to enjoy music about religion, cause I feel like every other popular song is about that, and I am just as annoyed as you, be careful though there are overlap betweem the two. 😄

Not necessarily. I think that lying requires intent. Someone could tell me something verifiably false without lying because they truly believe it to be true.

That's great, but to be fair some of them are "technically playable" but a real pain in the ass to play on the steam deck. The definition of "playable" is really not what you'd expect.

EDIT: I don't understand why I'm getting downvoted so much.. I own a steam deck and love it, and my comment is on topic.. I'm literally the only top comment on the thread, are you guys trying to incentivize people not to engage on lemmy's post ?

Don't forget the deck emulates a lot of other console, and therefore, the number of game you can play should also include those, I emulate the switch on my deck and it works like a charm.

I actually rewatch this movie with my SO whom never saw it two days ago. Fun coincidence to see a quote from it today

Lol, well done! I can't tell if you did it on purpose, which makes it funnier for some reasons.

yes, too late, I'm sorry I should have mansioned it.
