I love the idea of u/spez trying to explain to the potential investors why so many users of the investment are working together to actively disturb and destroy the platform as much as they can, while being way more effective than users of pretty much any other other popular social media platform.

Linux has a very different file-structure, which is the way your files are organized on a system. It's a bit weird at first, but once you get used to it makes a lot of sense. A second drive can often be found at /mnt/DRIVENAME or /media/DRIVENAME. But they show up in the file manager in a list anyhow.

You can block communities ("subreddits") if you want to. On lemmy.world you click on your username in the upper-right corner > Settings > Blocks > Block community.

And if you're also on Kbin: On Kbin there is a block button next to the subscribe button.

Hmm, makes sense but I'm not sure if that is possible right now. You could simply not subscribe to them use the feed of subscribed communities. Or do block them, but remove the block once most posts have been transferred.

I've been using yt-dpl + MPV + qutebrowser or ytfzf for a long time, but lately I've been using Freetube a lot on my desktop (which can also use MPV as an external player). Subscriptions are saved locally and can be exported in several formats. I occasionally export them, sync them over syncthing to my phone and import it on my yt apps on my phone. On my phone I mainly use Libretube, with NewPipe as a backup.

I see a lot of great names on your list! Legend of Mana and Chrono Cross are still on my list of old games that I want to play! But I want to finish Chrono Trigger on the DS first :)

That's totally true and somehow it didn't think of it. I think that is the closest equivalent of the Windows naming scheme on storage devices.
But on the contrary: I believe on Windows the drive letters ( C:, D;, etc) ARE used for recognition (by the user) while the drive is already mounted. But you can also mount them without assigning a drive letter, making it somewhat different than how it's handled in Linux. On Linux, the (average) user usually doesn't see stuff like "/dev/sda" unless they specifically look for it. At most, they will see the name that are assigned to the drive and it's mounting point.

I discovered the excistence of Bustin'Out on the GBA only 2 years ago. When I discovered it was an ancestor on Urbz, I had to play it! I played it through an emulator on my trusty old PSP, long after I had sold my GBA SP. I loved it! THe story and athmosphere were not developed to the same depth as Urbz, but it was certainly a very fun and welcome experience. More of the same in a positive way!

If I had to recommend a friend only 1 of both games, I would always recommend the Urbz. But Bustin'Out is great is you can´t get enough!

In GTA 2, One of the first things that I did when I started the game (in the first level), was driving all the way down to the far bottom-right corner of the map. The tank that was hidden over there was way too much fun!

It's been five fucking years since they released the teaser trailer for Elder Scrolls VI.

I really don't understand why publishers do this. At best, you can't give a representative image of the game 10 years in advance and people loose interest over time (Anybody that cared about Duke Nukem Forever?). The whole project might change drastically, maybe even multiple times.
At worst, both fans and shareholders get whiny about the releasedate and demand it to be released ASAP. Resulting in releases similar to that of Cyberpunk 2077. Why not announce the game when it is actually (almost) done?

That's what I thought as well! I was quite surprised with what it still can do, so I'm really happy with it! Especially since I love giving tech a longer/second life when it's still good. I always try to get the most out of it and this project is a great success :)

Yeah, I agree. I've wanted to get into home servers for a while now. The final push was me running a Valheim server for me and my friends on my regular PC, while I also recently got some old parts from a friend that had build a new PC.
I just needed to gather a few more parts that were missing (case, SSD and CPU cooler) and now it's running like a dream. It's some old-ass hardware: An i5 4460 with 8GB of DDR3 and a 250GB SSD. That's a 10 year old CPU. Doesn't seem like a lot and I haven't put a lot of services on it for now, but it still runs surprisingly well. I'm currently running a Valheim server with often 2-4, sometimes 5 or 6 players playing at the same time, Adguard and Syncthing. And yet, only 2.4GB of Ram is in use, with often around/less than 10% CPU usage, maybe a little more when a lot of people start playing VH. The CPU temps are around 30-33 degrees Celsius today, and that's only because summer is arriving. It was consistently around 25 degrees Celsius in the past week. Today I tried to add a Wireguard server to it, although I ran into some problems and I wanted to put some more thought into what OS to run anyway (It's just Ubuntu Server for now as I just wanted to get the Valheim server to run for now).

I'm starting to get into an infodump, but long story short: You can indeed get really, really far with some very cheap hardware. I've only spend around 50-60 euros on it so far, by having some luck, patience and keeping an eye out for deals or viable hardware that people want to get rid of. You can always upgrade to something more powerful or more energy efficient, but if you just want to get into the hobby, you really don't need a lot.

That's weird, I don't have that issue myself. The only small bug that I've noticed in the floating subs bar, is that it makes the rest of the website slightly less centered when opened. But that resolves itself when I close it again. You could try doing a full (cache) refresh of the webpage (Ctrl+F5). Sometimes that fixes those kind of issues.

E: You could of course also give the alternative sidebar a try. I really like that that sidebar groups magazines/communities with the same name together. However, it wouldn't load my magazines on my system. It just kept spinning a loading icon. Maybe it does work for you, it's worth a try!

Funnily enough, I got stuck too in CT, at a boss fight. But I'm determined to pick it up again and finish it some day. I'm not even sure if the boss-fight I'm stuck at is the last fight of the game or if there is a whole other chapter. It's sometimes hard to guess if you're near the end of the game in J-RPG's.

I also experienced that when I played Star Ocean First Departure and Star Ocean Second Evolution a few years ago. Those games are actually the games that made me discover my appreciation for J-RPG's. Every time I thought "Oh, this is it. Story is over", something completely unexpected happend and the story went on for many more hours. If you haven't played those games yet, I would highly recommend them (but I might be biased as well). Square Enix actually announced another remake of SO The Second Story, so you might want to wait for that (but you don't have to, the PSP version of Second Evolution is incredible as well). Second Evolution was one of the best games I've played in a long, long time, so I'm really exited about this one :)

I get what you mean with the optimistic and whimsy vibe in most J-RPG's. I love how I get drawn into the adventure and get the sense of "Sure, I can save the world", while not overdoing it.

Check the thread again, I edited it. The other sidebar I mentioned, which previously didn't work on my machine, has been fixed and I even prefer it over the already awesome Floating bar. It might work around your issue.
