Nitrogen asphyxiation does not equal suffocation. It displaces the oxygen in your lungs. Discomfort from suffocation is from build up of carbon dioxide, not lack of oxygen. For the brief period of time that you are still conscious, you can still exhale that carbon dioxide.

That wiki tho

As stated elsewhere, the discomfort that you feel what you're being suffocated is not from lack of oxygen. It is from build up of carbon dioxide. When you are breathing nitrogen, you can still exhale that carbon dioxide. You don't get that panicked feeling of needing a breath.

Yes, I did. Read my post.

They said:

Nitrogen narcosis happens to deep sea divers breathing compressed air, this would be straight up hypoxia, aka oxygen deprivation. Here’s what it does to your brain:

Nitrogen narcosis happens because when you are under pressure, like when underwater, gases are more easily dissolved. The nitrogen that is in your body dissolves into your tissues and basically anesthetizes you to death.

Nitrogen asphyxiation, like what we're talking about here, is when the nitrogen that you breathe displaces the oxygen in your lungs. This causes the oxygen levels in your blood to drop, which is what kills you.

@protist is talking about nitrogen narcosis, which is a completely different thing.

How is it important to maintain the technical definition of the word?

I used my Litter Robot for about 6 months, and ended up selling it because:

  • It still has to be cleaned. Once a month you are supposed to disassemble and clean the various parts. I found this experience to be pretty nasty. Definitely worse than scooping a box.
  • I have a Maine Coon, and she ended up with dirty litter in her fur all of the time.
    Edit:
  • The drawer is small and has to be emptied often if you have multiple cats. I get that you're still supposed to have multiple boxes available, but that thing cost exponentially more than other litter boxes, so it's hard not to see it as an attempt at an all-in-one solution.

Captain, in my comment that you just replied to, I quoted them literally saying that they are talking about nitrogen narcosis.

So did it feel like you just went to sleep and then woke up?

Glad you did such a terrible job of it!

It makes wifi! I'd say that stability and performance are probably identical. I don't especially mistrust Ubiquiti, but running open source feels nice, and it gives me nerd cred.

Remind me not to fly whatever airline you're using..

I think that you have come to the wrong conclusion here. People who can spend first class money are generally less likely to stab somebody just because they're frustrated.

I have ridiculously long legs, and am uncomfortable every time I fly, but I have never felt the desire to assault anybody over it.

I have worked with a gigabit ISP for a number of years, and personally haven't seen that much improvement in stock firmware. If anything, I feel like it's more a matter of hardware improving to the point that the clunky stock firmware can run ok.

I personally found Manjaro to be pretty nice, but i do have a lot of linux experience

But.. the whole reason we are having this discussion is because people are trying to make the process less miserable in their final moments.

How are people able to get through the captchas on that site? They never end for me.

I run OpenWRT on my Unifi AP :D

DNS over HTTPS just uses port 443 like any other traffic.

I want to be there. Hope to see more from you!

Every alternative "milk" that I see at the store is clearly labeled "soy milk," "oat milk," etc. This is confusing to some people?

Everything other than Debian :D

It's fucking pathetic that people can't handle anything without a sarcasm tag these days.

OG Chem. Nothing compares, for me.

Rhasspy works great for that

You've gone too far

This would be a lovely take, if there weren't so many other people running around with guns. Is it cowardly to want to protect yourself from the actual cowards?

I just started 40mg about a week ago, so I don't really know if it works yet, but so far I have just experienced some light nausea, which goes away if I eat.

It was difficult for me to not downvote this comment haha

Pearl clutching is an exaggerated outage. They didn't even show any outrage. Just noted a fact.

My personal disgust. It's probably not as bad as I think though, in fact I'm hungry right now and it doesn't sound nearly as bad.

I recently started on Vyvanse (recent diagnosis,) and I ended up having to reduce my dosage of Wellbutrin because it was making the side effects from the Vyvanse 10x worse. Something to watch out for.

Which bullshit? Trying to have a discussion?

How's it going? You find any buddies?

Sure would.

I had antelope tacos once. Tasted like taco meat

I love driving, but get so angry about how others drive.

guns will always result in more mass shootings

Then why aren't there any other mass shootings in the Czech Republic?

1 more...

Absolutely. I just think that it's silly to draw attention to guns being easily attainable in this context, when there have been so many more mass shootings in other European countries.

Not sure how you can see any equivalence between necessary utilities and a space mission..

Lots of talk about them allowing guns, as if that's what caused this, but let's look at the big picture..
