Just a lonely Libertarian boy, fighting for Freed Markets not Capitalism in an authoritarian world. #Antifash

The big difference is the teeth.

Well that and Mammoth never integrated ActivityPub

learning is never over. No matter how hard authoritarians try.

why is this in the lemmyshitposting community?

Calling Eugene Mastodon's CEO is kind of a threat. Granted he is Mastodon GHmb's CEO, but by no means is that what most people think of as mastodon. Then again he's let the #twittermigration go to his head.

Thankfully I haven't seen this, yet, from the lemmy.ml guys, the fact that lemmy.world is already bigger probably helps that too. (Well that ant they, allegedly, anti-capitalists).

my credit union emailed me today about Prime Day deals, wtf?!?

I think this is a different enough topic that it deserves its own post.

yep. they're real people work real lives that can't spend all their time looking at that shit. THANKS FOR REACHING OUT TO REAL PEOPLE AND CREATING A REAL COMMUNITY

most of us hate the government and yet we use the roads

If by here you mean lemmy.ml, the first lemmy server, you are certainty correct. Lemmy was originally authored by Marxists-Leninists to counter right-wing reddit. Or even more extreme lemmygrad.ml which I believe was the second Lemmy server, established by Stalinist kicked off of lemmy.ml for being too authoritarian.

yeah, don't sue, the capitalists' government courts are, at best, a pacifier. ORGANIZE!

If that's the case you probably wouldn't release GPL software, you'd find a more permissive license, perhaps apache?

I can't believe people even bother with 1080P let alone 4K. Is there unlimtied bandwidth where you all live?

In my part of the world anything above 480p is just asking for a bad time, with no actual improvement on your ability to enjoy the story.

I've never done it, but I though there was a way to upload docs to Z-lib

I use IPFS & I2p but not for piracy.

Really? I first joined the 'verse in 2011 & I hardly ever see anyone talking about the Kernel Linux, and that's something I would like to learn more about. There is frequently conversations about great Free Software projects, mostly from an end users perspective, including the GNU/Linux desktop OS but even the Lemmy Linux community is practically silent about the Kernel which makes up the backbone of most of our technical lives. Even mentioning Android/Linux practically gets you booed out of there.

I would assume the server in the closet is better for this, I mean don't pirate is that better FBI?

unless one just feeds you tons of ads and harvests user data. That's one reason why Gab, which is a fork of Mastodon, was defederated from most of the 'verse before Gab just went ahead and turned federation off.

You could create a Lemmy instance that made it far less user friendly to connect to other communities, and "forced" other users to join its communities because 'that's where everyone is'. That's one of the reasons why there is so much fuss over how to handle threads.net when/if they turn on federation.

Word!

yes. I have a Diaspora, another Fediverse platforms, account on diasp.org that I hav only ever accessed via their hidden tor service http://diasporg5tj4xz5mxkd5qnrppo7tbb6ynk2gtmjw5lmz6mtbesj3k6id.onion and their i2p connection http://diasporg.i2p , and i have no issue federating with friends that only use normie instances like Friendica. I have heard there are some maston imstances that support tor hidden service to. Maybe kolektiva.social?

The Luck Luke animated films, released in the states on Disney homevideo with English dubbing in the 80s. I've had one sitting on 90% for well over a year.

I'm no Microsoft fan boy, but I think Bing is better than Google at most things. The only thing I use google for now a days is a spell checker.

but IANAL.

Is that a butt joke?

/u/Omsorg@lemmy.world Are you on Diaspora? I heard that's where most of the Google+ refugees ended up.

no wonder he couldn't find it, we couldn't find it even when we were showed were it was.

anyone surprised doesn't know lemmy.ml

more reasons to self-host

The truly toxic idea, though, is that Mastodon instances should not only refuse to federate with Threads, but they should refuse to federate with other servers that do federate with Threads.

yep. The #Fediblock idea of "i don't care if they are nice people, they don't block the mean people" is crazy. At that point why not just set up your own PHPbb?

And its not new https://fediverse.wiki/wiki/The_Great_Wall_of_Mastodon

You never know. 20 years ago I didn't think my mom would ever figure out how to use email, let alone spend free time on an online social media platform. Nothing is forever.

I had heard of someone setting up their Friendica Forum with SMS and email add-ons (maybe they used IFTT? I'm not sure) so that their family members could participate in the "group chat" in the preferred way of each individual. They had indicated that eventually most of them switched to Friendica so that they could get the full experience. I've never done it though.

I think a big help to avoid this is if any "official" apps automatically point to something like lemmyverse search or Fediverse Observer rather than Join Lemmy or any single instance.
Mastodon.socialwas already by far the largest before the only app named "mastodon" available in the major mobile repositories was built to automatically have you create an account on mastodon.social to "Make it easier for the normies".

The fact that I dont' even know the name of any lead developers of #lemmy as opposed to /u/gargon@mastodon.social is probably a good sign too.

so is everyone else

well isn't that !wholesome@kbin.social

yeah, but Reddit was shit long before the API changes...like abandoning open source 7-8 years ago.

more reasons to want to run for office in my credit union.

Did you do it yet?

The ICC (international cricket council) and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) have been approaching Disney level of anti-piracy. Most fan sites don't even allow short clips of matches for fears of getting sued.

To be fair, most Americans don't know anything exists outside of America.

so no, you are not aware of anything on that particular webpage that I linked to that is untrue.

Hmmm, what advantage are they having by you using their modem. does it give mor information to them?
