Chrome is popular because it works. The average person is not going to give up convenience for privacy, even if they claim to care about it. As someone who uses Firefox, I can say that some websites don't work on Firefox and Firefox is often slower than chromium browsers. While I'm ok with that, others might not be.

I actually haven't seen any. Although I don't doubt that it's out there.

I use bitwarden. I like it a lot, especially because I like to switch between operating systems and web browsers. It works really well for my use case and I do recommend it to friends and family.

Are these spam accounts? Then they should be banned. I could only see ads in the context of keeping the servers running. I think outside of that it doesn't make sense for this kind of platform. If lemmy.world can run entirely off of donations, then I don't see a reason for ads at all, especially if those ads don't even contribute to keeping the lights on.

I wish less people were so jaded about voting...

TikTok is a threat to my productivity if anything. That app will ruin me if I download it again.

I'm definitely more of a lurker, but I'm trying to be active in commenting at least. As for posting, I just don't have much to post about tbh.

The average person definitely doesn't imo. Threads is easy to get into and has a fast growing user base. Those make it more appealing then privacy ever would for the average person.

I'd absolutely love a steam controller 2, one that takes after the steam deck controls.

I'm starting to get excited about this one now. Although I don't trust Bethesda enough to actually pull the trigger on a preorder. And I still have no man's sky to keep me happy for now.
