Started contributing 2 weeks ago and just did a walk for StreetComplete yesterday, it's hella fun and I've added a lot of POIs on my city since i started, just over 400 changesets atm :)

Used andOTP but got discontinued, Aegis is the king now :)

Probably just hardware compatibility and me specifically NVIDIA x) once you get the kinks sorted out it's a pretty stable experience

If you want a FOSS alternative to fetchnotifs, you can try changedetection.io :)

Jan 2000 here :)

I can definitely agree, Mastodon feels empty and there's not alot to look out for

For server, Debian is great :) i use ubuntu 20.04 lts personally

Well, it's pretty unsurprising considering all companies are doing the same.

I've given a chance to Jellyfin but it's really frustating how it simply refused to play video files without any descriptive error logs. I think it mostly doesn't work properly on HEVC files (I think Edge is the only browser that properly supports x265) and my Android TV also doesn't play the damn thing.

Also adding that video files from the same release (which assumed are the same encoder), they either work perfectly or just refuse to work :(

I do not pay for Plex but I considered in the past getting a lifetime sub x)

I have it running for a couple of months now, doing just fine. Had to change my compose file a while back due to some change but rock solid so far.

I do run Syncthing too in any case

Libreddit is great, been using it way before the Reddit drama (libreddit.caldeirag.xyz), there is also Teddit which is similar, they both support the cookie subscription thing.

A mini PCs sips power when they're mostly idle, at about 10/15w then it creeps upwards if you push it. It also only needs the iGPU anyway even if you wanna do trancoding on Plex. It will most likely be way more efficient that a desktop with a GPU on it

I think the best choice is getting one of those so all your services are working all the time. A RPI will work albeit you gotta be aware of its limitations.

Libreddit uses anonymous endpoints that still work for now, I use Libreddit daily on my instance.

Patiently waiting for Thunderbird on mobile with k-9 so Gmail it is atm

Honestly I've been very satisified with ostree-based distros, specifically Fedora Kinoite (Silverblue for GNOME) and it's very hard to fuck it up and it encourages flatpak usage.

Other than that, the recommendations on the article are pretty good.

Haven't heard of eMule for ages lmao x)

Jerboa is the best Boost-like app for me but Liftoff has been a good alternative to .17 instances

Not too sure about this, it seems to use just anonymous API endpoints that are still working (see #818 and #785)

Indeed, I was supposed to born on the 31st Dec 1999 but didn't feel like it I guess :)

SIngle player games / simulation games, the only FPS I've kept around is CS:GO really. Also play Warframe sometimes but the grind is painful sometimes

It still works fine so I'm assuming no one is paying for it, including myself :)

This setup is nice. It's also interesting that I've never heard of Wii mini but I was a PlayStation kid :)

I love this solution, it's chaotic-good

Also got one on the only sub I used to mod a couple of hours ago 🙃

Thank you, it was getting annoying sometimes 😆

andOTP backups are supported on Aegis after you create a vault

Docker does work for transcoding but because I'm using Proxmox it's slightly more complicated since I want my windows VMs to not be a slog and run mediaservers on a iGPU.

Atleast on Plex it can do software transcode and not be bothered by an annoying "cannot play this media on this device". This was a few months ago and I still run both but Plex serves me fine fot the time being

If you're satisfied with Jellyfin, you should stick to that cause Plex ain't bringing much to the table in all honesty. I still use Plex cause it works better most of the time really.

Heyo, welcome in :)

Thank you for the info and keeping on top of this :) have a nice weekend

Nova too, nice homepage, I have the same icon pack but on a boring 4x4 grid :)

No need to root and you can always switch back to your previous launcher / uninstall the launcher. It's pretty much an alternative homepage and app drawer.

Then just customize it the way you like it and grab some icon packs, most of them are free or at a symbolic price

You could try Niagara Launcher or Nova, my current one and see how you like it
