It really depends on what breed and how they were raised. In the Alps, there are almost anually reports of wanderers being attacked or even killed by cows. They often are with their calves for a longer time, are less accustomed to (strange) people and usually a fully intact male is in the heard that can get really protective.

Approach them with caution, watch their behaviour closely and use common sense. That’s what I do and for me that works.

Wait till you learn about who reinstated jurisdiction, police force, many federal offices, the Bundeswehr, in Germany after WW2….

While understandable from a pragmatic standpoint (what do when everyone was in more or less?) Germany still struggles with this old Nazi-coteries in vital bodies of the state, like judiciary, the Verfassungsschutz, police and the military.

What pains me most - not only in Germany - is that everybody acts as there cannot be any Nazis as they were defeated in 1945. Quite on the contrary, it is evident today that the fight against fascism is a constant and deliberate effort of any free and democratic country.

That is a very coarse categorisation. Really hard cheese, like parmigiano reggiano, is almost always already “contaminated”, which is why the last few centimetres towards the crust shouldn’t be eaten.

For anything softer than that, f.i. middle-aged Gouda or Emmental, I wouldn’t risk it, as the mould will already be spread far wider than visible.

The gardener in my last apartment replaced all of his powertools (mower, blower, trimmer, …) with electric ones powered by an accu-pack he carries on his back. This is an absolute game-changer! I could actually sit outside again and even do stuff for work, when he was there.

Seriously though, the German liberal party (FDP) has dubbed renewable energy “freedom energy”.

The AfD is nothing of anything you just mentioned. Especially in Thüringen where this clusterfuck is taking place, the AfD is as much full-on Nazi-mode as you couldn’t imagine in your wildest wet dreams about the Führer in latex underwear.

As a SW-German, I’d say it is way more a rural vs. urban thing. In the greater Stuttgart area f.i. don’t worry about openly living a gay lifestyle. If you live out in the woods, it might be different, but not necessarily so.

That being said, SW’eners are generally way more conservative towards any kind of “fun” or “flamboyant“ things - legacy of the very pietist history here.

I‘d generally advice against sneakers. If you want shoes that last, get some quality leather shoes, ideally Goodyear welted ones. When properly taken care of, they can last many years and can then be repaired. Also they will fit very well, after being broken in.

Build a consistent bodywork routine. Don’t bother with any high-flying goals, just stay active. A 30 minute routine done consistently every day beats hulking out in the gym two times a week by a lot. Fokus on functional mobility and flexibility exercises and throw in some full-body strength work like pull-ups, push-ups and squats.

I make workout my me time: my music, my time, my body.

Viewing working out as something that is good for me instead of a chore also does help. Concentrating on my body, really feeling the muscles contract is kind of a meditation to me.

Key point: „To be secure, you should always use the latest long-term stable kernel. The key word here is "latest." It's not enough to use an LTS […] [or at least] Continuously update to the latest kernel release, either major or stable.“

Yeah, there still are heaps of MSG in them and therefore a lot of traditional “cucina povera” recipes make use of them.

Still, at least for parmigiano reggiano, modern food science has found that the mold living in the cheese dairies penetrates the rind several centimetres deep and is almost ubiquitous.

Likely it is as always: the dose makes the posion.

In most cases it is not a lack of willpower but rather an exhaustion of the same. Try to arrange your daily routine around things you WANT to do and limit the things that burn attention and mental energy (doom-scrolling social media, ….).

It’s all about managing your (dopamine) resources economically.

Everything is connected with everything and therefore reacts to everything, so treat you and your surrounding with kindness and empathy.

TickTick has been my weapon of choice for several years now. Still loving it.

Alcohol, Nicotine, Caffeine, Cannabis, LSD, Ketamine, MDMA, 2C-B, 4-MMC, Kratom, Psilocybin, Muscimol, Cocaine, ODSMT (tramadol), Amphetamine.

Alcohol I consider the most dangerous and destructive of all. It is very hard on my body and tolerance as well as dependence build up quickly and often noticed too late due to social acceptance.

MDMA is great taken responsibly with loved ones. My wife and I enjoy it every few months for a “free parents weekend”. It really helps opening up emotionally and makes physical touch even more enjoyable.

My almost daily vice is weed. I use it to manage stress and unwind after work. It works best when I do it together with exercise. The workout high is my personal favourite.

Shrooms are also great. They are easy to grow and very pleasant to me. After I’ve done a high dose (6g) I can do 2-3g as a chill daytime dose that mellows me out. It’s especially great for playtime with children - brings me kind of to the same mental level without losing my mental capacity.

But that would require switching the medium wich again takes conscious effort.

However, I find myself reading 2-3 books for exactly that reason.

When I got heavily involved in karate and kickboxing, training barefoot 5x per week, I lost almost two shoe-sizes. After I stopped, I gained them back year by year. Now I wear mostly barefoot shoes and again have lost at least one size. I attribute it to the ability of your feet muscles to maintain the arc and keep your middle foot together,

When you dissolve instant coffee directly into hot water, the amylum contained in the granules hardens, creating a powdery taste and consistency. By mixing the granules with cold water first, they dissolve more gently once introduced to hot water.

I found this technique makes for a richer and more flavourful coffee experience. Allegedly also because aromatics evaporate slower.

By personal (yet anecdotal) evidence, I can testify that at least camomile works. The regular tea is not concentrated enough for me to have any noticeable effect, but the oily extract (apigenin) does wonders for my stressed-out brain!

Absolutely. Quality instant coffee tastes as good as a regular brew, when prepared correctly: dissolve in cold water, ONLY THEN add hot water.

Tried it out as a last resort on an old ThinkPad … and had it running for some 5 years. This is a seriously good daily driver!

All sorts of bean stew. Legumes are filling, rich in protein and fiber, and really easy to prepare. Make them with coconut cream and curry, olive oil and garlic, in a veggie broth … cheap, tasty and loads of variety.

I see the necessity in the moment and I do not blame the original set-up of the federal structures by the allied forces. In fact they were expertly carved out to on the one hand minimise the chances of a second “Hitler” while on the other hand maximise governmental and economic efficacy.

My point is rather that we must not underestimate the long term influence these people and their ideology exert. They may not have been the top devision makers, but over time they will attract likeminded people and foster parallel structures. If not actively managed/eliminated they will, on the long run, try to employ the same tactics again in order to come to power. And this is, what we see today in many western countries, not only Germany.

CBT for actually getting out of a rut and sitting meditation (zazen) for staying out of it. There are many more things that help, like reducing alcohol and caffeine, regular exercise…. but meditation is what really changed the game for me.

I’d just recommend you start it with a qualified teacher. Or at least read up on it (I recommend https://www.mctb.org/ and “the mind illuminated”).

Xubuntu - great ootb configuration, lightning fast on my old thinkpad without compromising on functionality

It’s no real solution, but makes this mess a bit more sufferable when you still really want to visit that site: https://consentomatic.au.dk/

In my corner of the world, most CPs are also PTs. Or rather the other way around: they use chiropractic as one of many therapeutic means in their portfolio. I have to say, I very much appreciate this approach, as it relives the initial pain/discomfort but also addresses the underlying problem.

True. I tried some other rather light-weight distros but no other gave me a comparable polished experience.

I used to avoid instant coffee until I read this somewhere and tried it. It definitely changed my coffee game. The rationale behind it is that aromatics evaporate too quickly when the instant powder is infused with too/boiling hot water.

I found Fasching - at least for me - had almost always had kind of a staged and unnatural feel to it. It definitely does not meet my expectations for a liberal, welcoming vibe that encourages self-love and -expression. But that maybe just me…

How do you get past the „I am not a robot“/capture frenzy? It used to work for me, but not anymore. I keep getting capture after capture…

In deed. I believe the “Wirtschaftswunder” would not have been possible otherwise.

I’m pretty happy with TickTick premium. It checks all your boxes and 30$ p.a. is reasonable imho.

Well, then you were lucky. I‘ve been hiking off the beaten paths and more than once forced me an agitated bull to detour as he would not let me near his herd.

My first one was OpenSUSE in the 00-years. I was hardly able to get it up and running on my worn out, home-build desktop.

Tried again later with ubuntu (Gnome) on an old Thinkpad and was taken aback about how smooth it ran just ootb.

Made some palak paneer and roasted cauliflower with spicy mayo.

That is the thing with these „Einzelfälle“: Germany is deliberately turning two blind eyes to structural racism and fascism even though it is more than evident by now there are large parts of legislative, jurisdictional and executive bodies that not only sympathise with right-wing ideas but full on support nazi politics.

I appreciate Mrs. Faeser’s recent crack-downs against neo-nazi groups, but this were only the most extreme excrescences. What’s happening f.i. inside Hesse’s state police, once again an “Einzelfall” as uncovered by Jan Böhmerman’s team, is exemplary.

Other groups may act more cautiously but they are letting their hair down more and more. Just look at how the rhetoric of the CDU leadership changed in regard of the AfD!
