You still can. The beauty of the fediverse!

Kinda? Someone can correct/add on to this but:

FA = Fender Alternative series (“beginner” series/line) -laminate guitars of pressed fiber

CD = Classic Design series - spruce tops, mahogany body

PD = Paramount series -solid mahogany wood top and body

The “E” At the end means they’re electric (likely Fishman pickups)

Dreadnought will be the body shape. This is the big American acoustic shape with deep low end.

Not sure what the individual numbers mean.

Because people don’t look at who, they just check the box with the R in Texas. It’s why we’re in the mess we’re in these days.

Kevin is free

First, I wasn’t aware I was on a side.

Second, there’s no attempt at gaslighting. I’m asking why you’re angry. I think it’s because I’m confused what any of this has to do with brain chips. Maybe it’s a post in the wrong thread?

So, in short, I’m just asking you for the reason you’ve posted this, in an attempt to better understand why I’m seeing this where I’m seeing it.

  1. My horse, Lola. She’s an amazing 9yo grey quarter horse mare. “Retired” barrel racer, she’s the perfect trail/ranch horse. She’s got the best quirky and silly demeanor, she loves to hang out, and she’s playful, but never gets crazy under saddle.

  2. My guitar. 2012 PRS 513. I absolutely love that guitar, and it got me back into playing after almost 20 years off. It’s my “do everything” guitar, and the difference in sounds between pickup combinations makes it incredibly versatile.

  3. A good mattress. I spend a solid 1/3 of my life sleeping (or trying to) and a great mattress helps so much.

The dream

What are you angry about?

I think it’s less the what and more the why. Kevin Mitnick was, by a lot of accounts, not even a very skilled “hacker”. But his high profile arrest and sentencing highlighted the issues of a developing internet and the immediate backlash of institutional forces, both government and corporate, quickly rushing to shut down any and all discourse around information and knowledge being “free”.

This created an equal but opposite backlash AGAINST the perceived ignorance of the government at what the internet actually was, and the corporations that wanted to control and monetize it. (In hindsight, we can see who won that one)

This helped propel an entire “hacker” subculture into pop culture and modern life.

“Free Kevin” became a common sticker or t-shirt at local 2600 meetings, or other hacking groups all over the U.S. and you’d see it left on defaced websites from young groups testing out their skills or latest exploits on poorly configured servers.

Even as quite a bit of these hackers would ridicule and deride Kevin for being bad, the saying continued because, in the end it wasn’t about Kevin. It was any or all of us. Doing things made illegal by legislators that didn’t even understand what was in the laws they were signing could have put any of us in jail. So “Free Kevin” became kind of synonymous for “Free Information”.

Through all of this was Kevin, just trying to live his life. He got out of jail, settled down and went on living. His passing was a lot like his life after prison, quiet and uneventful. Like a lot of people, I didn’t even know he was battling cancer.

So my comment below that Kevin is free is just, to me, one final call out into the dark for an idea, and a person, that helped me get to where I am today.

Totally agree! Phenomenal on the steam deck.

“You see, the birth canal is a tunnel and we all know Hamas is using tunnels to move around without observation. The babies just used tunnels, so they must be Hamas.”

CSS loader and SteamGrid db. Just being able to change the ui is so worth it.

A lot of this comes from the mindset of real estate as an appreciating asset. That drives the desire to buy and hold, because it only ever goes up.

Same. Oem dock. It’s awesome and firmware updates come right through the deck.

Great milestone!

It’s the same in the Austin area. Weather app shows 50% almost every day. There is realistically next to 0% chance of any precision for the near future.

Exactly. It’s just a more complex implementation of radar.

“Don’t be evil” was always going to take second place to “make money”. That reality sucks, but it’s inevitable in a corporate oligarchy.

It’s been said before, but talking through it is a coping mechanism. Like it or not, a lot of people are/were heavily invested in that site, and talking through it is a way to help clear the air and start to move forward.

It’s drama is dominating social media right now, so it’s hard to NOT see it and hear about it, but we all need to let each other move on in the way that’s best for each of us.

This response absolutely nails it. Pack it in, thread’s done.

Favorite things:

  • Steam library available in my hand
  • Impressive capability in a (relatively) compact form factor
  • The smell (you’ll know)

Least favorite:

  • The urge to spend more time tweaking it than gaming on it (could also be a favorite)
  • Limited SSD sizes (see above: tweaking it)
  • Battery life (but the capabilities!)

All in all, I had the available cash and it’s been a lot of fun. I’ve definitely wasted more money on less, but I’d get one all over again if I had to.

If they would just stop making EVERYTHING about him, that alone would hurt his campaign more than anything else.

Just report the facts and stop trying to clickbait news articles.

…but I guess there’s no money in that.

"Carry out her duties" to continue the corruption in the Texas state government. He's the one that got her elected, no way she doesn't vote to acquit.

It’s been a good week! Unlike a lot of weekends, I’m ready to go for next week. Missing the usual existential dread of another work week, so I’m excited about that.

The state government hating Austin is not new. It’s becoming more outright as Austin continues to grow, giving it a larger voice in the state.

Eventually, progress will prevail.

Can’t watch a Rush video in Canada? I’m pretty sure there’s a law against that.

Thanks! That’s an old Bob Marshall. It’s been replaced by a new one at this point.

Rural broadband access is abysmal. We moved from a large suburb to a rural area in 2020, and trying to get reliable high-speed internet has been the biggest struggle of all.

I use it with my focusrite scarlet (2i2 2nd gen) via asio on W11 and it works fine. Running it in windowed mode lets you set the resolution and put it anywhere on your screen you want.

There are lots of walkthroughs online on how you can set up asio. Modding it consists of replacing a single DLL and then adding your settings to a text file.

If you’ve got big boy audio gear, my assumption is that you’re not using RS for learning to play. It’s awesome for picking up new songs or just playing along with songs you love.

It's Ubisoft... of COURSE they were selling it in the worst possible state. XD

The community content makes it absolutely worth it, and I highly recommend it. Fair warning, it IS community created content. I've had to re-chart and submit updates to some of the song charts on there, but I also feel like that's helped me become a better musician as well. Knowing the song well enough that I can tell when it's wrong and then I get to use (ToneLib-Jam, for me personally) another piece of the toolkit to fix it and resubmit.

Play guitar. Ride a horse. Ride a motorcycle. Play frisbee with my dog. Read a book.

Like the other reply, the little things are big things.

I hope you can feel better, friend.

Same. The game is so good. Low key terrifying at times.

If it’s in violation of the rules, report it. Don’t just downvote.

Historically, I think, housing is less volatile than the stock market. So there's a risk mitigation strategy there that may partly be in play with companies that are purchasing single-family homes and just squatting on them.

This may also be exacerbated by rising interest rates. So companies/individuals that purchased a historically low rates are/may be reticent to sell because they can't secure a loan with the same rates they currently have. Even IF the housing isn't actively generating income, it could be losing LESS just due to the rates.

This is all entirely speculation on my part. I'll freely admit I don't know.
