Please search obsidian guides on youtube, there are many, and they are fucking awesome tbh. I'm serious, the amount of available information in Obsidian is staggeringly enormous. You couldn't read it all if you tried, or watch it all if you tried.
My favorite video makers on Obsidian from 2 years ago when I was learning the software: Nicole van der Hoeven and some other guy i can't find :(
edit: pick a recent video with a lot of views, obsidian has changed a little bit, not too much, but i bet most of the guides out there are great to get you started

i never did note interlinking in onenote, so idk if that's there, but on obsidian is part of the core, and interlinking notes is essential for the zettelkasten/evergreen-notes note-taking process.
i never used markdown on onenote either, dunno if that's a thing, i see there's a plugin, wonder how good it is
obsidian's best quality for me is self ownership, compared to onenote, where things are trapped there and i can download them maybe but it's not something i truly own, i feel, while with obsidian, everything in there is just your files in your filesystem and you can just remove the ethernet cable and use it on an offline computer and just move it from computer to computer or upload individual files or whatever
markdown is also plain text so it's very lightweight to use, i've used obsidian in the shittiest smallest most garbage laptops out there with puppy linux and it runs beautifully and laglessly. it also has a cool mobile app.
most cons have been removed little by little with progressive updtes. i don't even know any cons right now.
I procrastinated work for 2 straight weeks when lemmy came out. Deadline is now past and I'm still deep into the task and being threatened with retaliation for not finishing on time. π€ That had never happened to me with reddit at all, not even close.

I know :) I'm partially kidding. I tried kbin. The UI was too weird for me. That's actually the main reason I didn't use it. It felt less customizable. I had a hard time not seeing just the defaults. In fact I'm not sure in all this time I've subbed to anything from my kbin acc.

how does my home instance influence the loading speed of content from a different instance
lemmy world has like 85k ppl, lemmy ml has like 50k ppl, this means that there's potentially tens of thousands of people browsing at the same time making requests to the lemmy.ml and lemmy.world servers, or whichever home server their instance is hosted on. If the server is not big enough to stand it, it becomes slow while it processes the bulk of the requests. Smaller instances have fewer people, which means that there's fewer active people and servers have an easier job when they must process the requests of all of their users.

suggestion: go to a smaller instance, you will not have lag :) the reason why lemmy world has a lot of lag is because it has almost 100k ppl, i see all the same content as you do and my instance has like 4k.

I wasnt doing much there anyway other than my local subs which i browse for 5 to 10 minutes a day on the pc.
i open a few subs every so often to find more netflix shows to watch or see if my games have been updated with new drama & then i leave.

Me, using cleaned-up reddit on browser is the only way I'd use it. I preferred it even to RIF sometimes.
