Interesting thought. I think most issues stem from bigot assholes who consume the produce but are not allowed to due to their background/upbringing/social "norms". And those within their normative set not willing to provide, because of the same background/upbringing/social context.

Also, w/o currency there will be other forms of compensation, like a certain amount of work time, or... (p.e.) a handful of apples... due for a certain set of services.

Additionally there is always a percentage of plain idiots who would socially not be able to ascertain this kind of services w/o paying, and these seem to need to demonize the servicer to feel better about themselves.

Sry if I busted this comment, brain is fried after work.

The Majesty Gold HD Edition is currently on sale at GOG btw.:

I also noticed slow dl speeds some weeks ago, and had to restart the download. Nearly did not install it out of growing frustration. But it worked out in the end.

Thy already wrote this will not be powered on 24/7, just lean back and enjoy the pics and story :-)

So, what is nuclear?

Well they stepped into the heli to fly over rough terrain in dense fog and bad weather. Some might call that a little bit tempting fate...

I would think Russia's next target will be Georgia. The invasion there is only frozen for the moment, but with the pro-Russian government there it only needs some more Russian style laws like those anti-LGBTQ or foreign-agents one, plus massive protests in the young city population and Russia will "come to help the government".

Well, they could focus on distributing or coordinating things and assembling results, things they now leave to those who's job it definitively not is.

Maybe use Sumatra PDF instead?

"he almost mocked the inability of the west’s $40tn economy to organise a battlefield defeat of Russia’s $2tn economy." <- this really bothers me. There is no will here for Ukraine to succeed.

Very interesting link, thank you.

How old were you back then? These kids awake to a world fucked up by the older generation. They try to take every step that comes to their mind to steer away from desaster. What is your personal input in that task? Criticism. Well done. Go out and teach them, if you're so clever.

What the f?

Nothing except FOSS apps will get installed on my phone. With Exodus Privacy you can check your Playstore apps for trackers. Sometimes sickening how much shit gets installed with an app. Do it then switch to FOSS.

"At the very least, GOG is sure that its support for Fallout: London won’t upset Bethesda,“They're also our partners so we wouldn't want to do anything to harm our relationship.”"

^^ I think this is one of the main points here.

Would be around 300€ in Germany, on a cheap contract. Limiting myself to one combined NAS/application server atm, with the others turned on only if I want to try sth out.

"How I got shot inna hand? Weeel, long story..."

German here. According to my experience, on some places you're the weird one not greeting.

Doctor's waitimg room: greet and goodbye expected.

Bus: Usually you enter in front and leave in the back, so only greet the driver, usually.

Nature/dog walk: Indifferent. Usually we greet everyone we meet, due to the shared nature experience probably. And usually nobody greets back. If you make room for cyclists, nobody says thanks or even breaks a bit to give you more time to get out of their way. Last weekend, however, everybody we met greeted first, and every cyclist breaked and said thanks, which was a remarkably strange but positive experience.

Office/company grounds: I tend to greet everyone. Except for a few who regularly don't greet back. Usually at least saying "hi" once a day is expected.

What miffes me most is that most people here are reluctant to thank for services provided (cashier, doc's assistant, cleaners, security...). As if these hardest working people somehow were invisible, or machines.

Well his imagination and worldbuilding are quite wonderful... He should be a writer not an actor.

I have to admit I was also only looking at the props, because I very much like the visual style. I feel the creators overdid themselves a little, packing (probably too) many references directly in the first episode. Was a little overwhelmed visually and did not follow the story. Will have to rewatch, especially as the start of the episode is not like the games, where you primarily follow one (your) character, and rather not many in parallel.

read this as "they swear a lot". both may fit

Is there any other way?

Yes.

No issues here. Have to use (mainly) excel at work, but use libre office calc at home, for years. Hate excel with all my heart. Mainly autocomplete and UI issues, but also issues when using more than one instance with excel. No problems with file exchange, p.e. with my tax person. Imho excel was THE leader but they enshittyfied it to the max.

Fritzboxes are rock stable, and support Wireguard from FritzOS 7.5 onwards, see https://avm.de/service/vpn/wireguard-vpn-zur-fritzbox-am-computer-einrichten/

(Apparently NOT the cable versions!)

What nags me most with them is that you have no separate Firewall controll over their WiFi, and the WiFi range is not really great. So probably consider going with dedicated APs instead.

What the holy f*!?!

Amazefit Bip - pro: transflective display with backlight, supreme battery life (weeks), virtually indistructible (although I had massive doubts at the start), all the features I need. con: replaced the wristband almost immediately - really cheap.

I'm sorry but I rather like that feature. You could use NewPipe as standard youtube app. Makes the experience so much less annoying.

Well you did, and I did. But think about how many did not, when you open the bathroom door after meticiously washing and drying your hands...

You had me with "Specs are slightly in flux right now". Beautiful.

tl, did not read all. sry, tired.

"The reality is that while you’ve gotten very good at navigating the operating system that you’ve been using for the past twenty years, very little of that knowledge is useful in GNU/Linux."

One could add "Or on the next version/release of Windows", cos they're breaking that "knowledge" with each new (forced) change on the UI. Yes, I want to right-click on a file and choose "rename" in a context menu, not choose one of a ton of icons, I want excel to open a new instance with a new file, and so on. It kills productivity for me to be forced on these changes.

I feel there's a story behind this ^^

I think you need a ton of patience, the prices for used hardware are fluctuating by a wkide margin. And all of a sudden one single machine type will be available in quantities, for cheap. Probably when a big player scraps all of their equipment. I've had some luck with Harlander, mainly with monitors and a document scanner. Might be worth a check from time to time.

You can probably even omit any heating and just use those desiccant sacks. They can be reused.

Olimex had a ARM board with POE, if I remember correctly... though I cannot find it atm. Here's an ESP based instead: https://www.olimex.com/Products/IoT/ESP32/ESP32-POE/open-source-hardware

I remember these from when I was a kid. Our local Sparkasse or Commerzbank (Germany) handed these out. Should be quite easy to pick with a bent pin in the longer slot of the lock. The upper opening does not have any function but for symmetry of the key (which was itself slotted in the middle, like the letter U inverted). Sry can't describe it better ;-)

tldr: His given name was Francis, though I like Throckmorton (*edit: better) as that....
