"Musk told Peterson that Wilson’s gender transition has been the motivation for his push into conservative politics.

“I vowed to destroy the woke mind virus after that, and we’re making some progress,” he said. "

My god what a total dumbfuck.

From the article:"On February 10, 2023, user "Swag Gucci Balenciaga Corndog" on Steam completed this bounty and summitted proof of his run."

""[It's] utterly ridiculous," Robert Bauman, a Milwaukee City Alderman who proposed adding guns to that city ordinance, told ABC News. "I mean, I could just picture this image of somebody coming up to the entry point with, you know, an AR-15 strapped over one shoulder, a long rifle over another, and two pistols in his belt, and the cops asking him, 'You got any tennis balls?'"

^^I would pay money to see that scene^^

Well they stepped into the heli to fly over rough terrain in dense fog and bad weather. Some might call that a little bit tempting fate...

I would think Russia's next target will be Georgia. The invasion there is only frozen for the moment, but with the pro-Russian government there it only needs some more Russian style laws like those anti-LGBTQ or foreign-agents one, plus massive protests in the young city population and Russia will "come to help the government".

"Between the lines: The chaotic incidents indicate how much ultranationalists in Israel have been emboldened under Netanyahu's governments, especially after Oct. 7.

It is also a sign of the disintegration of the IDF chain of command and the military's internal law and order, encouraged by ultranationalist politicians who for years called the military a "liberal" institution and said it was part of a "deep state" that needs to be dismantled."

Good summary, especially the last sentence sums it up.

Well, they could focus on distributing or coordinating things and assembling results, things they now leave to those who's job it definitively not is.

Maybe use Sumatra PDF instead?

"he almost mocked the inability of the west’s $40tn economy to organise a battlefield defeat of Russia’s $2tn economy." <- this really bothers me. There is no will here for Ukraine to succeed.

Very interesting link, thank you.

Plant trees around your house. Shadow and natural cooling because they tend to evaporate water. Use white outer surfaces to reflect sunlight for additional benefit.

How old were you back then? These kids awake to a world fucked up by the older generation. They try to take every step that comes to their mind to steer away from desaster. What is your personal input in that task? Criticism. Well done. Go out and teach them, if you're so clever.

I have to admit that each time I saw a torx security screw on a case I had to open (looking at you, Compaq) this made me so angry that I used to punch the middle pin away with a flathead screwdriver, and replace the screw with a regular one later. This was in those past times I did not have a fuckton of assorted torx bits in a gigantic case...

"Technology leaders to the United Nations and the Vatican worry that the use of drones and AI in weapons could reduce the barrier to killing and dramatically escalate conflicts."

Interesting read, didn't know the Vatican had "technology leaders".

In a public phone booth, accessible to everyone. Later then, you had the chance to opt out of the phone book "service", here in Geemany that was around the time alternative phone providers appeared. Now seems to be default, so you got to watch to whom you give your number.

If you post I'd personally be glad if you'd not spam your post to all remotely probable communities. It will end up like maybe 50 times in everyone's "new" feed and some would consider this as post spamming.

"At the very least, GOG is sure that its support for Fallout: London won’t upset Bethesda,“They're also our partners so we wouldn't want to do anything to harm our relationship.”"

^^ I think this is one of the main points here.

Nothing except FOSS apps will get installed on my phone. With Exodus Privacy you can check your Playstore apps for trackers. Sometimes sickening how much shit gets installed with an app. Do it then switch to FOSS.

Would be around 300€ in Germany, on a cheap contract. Limiting myself to one combined NAS/application server atm, with the others turned on only if I want to try sth out.

Had a colleague who did this regularly, till I put his new pw on a postit, and that in his coat pocket. Worked as long as the weather stayed same... It escalated away, until he let his gf call me for his password, because he did not dare to anymore. We finally gave up and set his pw fixed to "123456". He was really good at the job, only not with his pw.

It's the first step of many to follow. Bavaria already "promised" to make it as tough as possible for the clubs to establish. They will now need to spread and root fast before the next (most probably rightwing / CxU) government can start to revert all that was achieblved.

Plus, they needed a place to host that big a mod with connections to Bethesda to prevent a probable takedown order...

Well his imagination and worldbuilding are quite wonderful... He should be a writer not an actor.

German here. According to my experience, on some places you're the weird one not greeting.

Doctor's waitimg room: greet and goodbye expected.

Bus: Usually you enter in front and leave in the back, so only greet the driver, usually.

Nature/dog walk: Indifferent. Usually we greet everyone we meet, due to the shared nature experience probably. And usually nobody greets back. If you make room for cyclists, nobody says thanks or even breaks a bit to give you more time to get out of their way. Last weekend, however, everybody we met greeted first, and every cyclist breaked and said thanks, which was a remarkably strange but positive experience.

Office/company grounds: I tend to greet everyone. Except for a few who regularly don't greet back. Usually at least saying "hi" once a day is expected.

What miffes me most is that most people here are reluctant to thank for services provided (cashier, doc's assistant, cleaners, security...). As if these hardest working people somehow were invisible, or machines.

I have to admit I was also only looking at the props, because I very much like the visual style. I feel the creators overdid themselves a little, packing (probably too) many references directly in the first episode. Was a little overwhelmed visually and did not follow the story. Will have to rewatch, especially as the start of the episode is not like the games, where you primarily follow one (your) character, and rather not many in parallel.

Darwin cable.

read this as "they swear a lot". both may fit

As a German I would suggest to burn these stores down.

Is there any other way?

No issues here. Have to use (mainly) excel at work, but use libre office calc at home, for years. Hate excel with all my heart. Mainly autocomplete and UI issues, but also issues when using more than one instance with excel. No problems with file exchange, p.e. with my tax person. Imho excel was THE leader but they enshittyfied it to the max.

Yes.

I found that this is also a sign of mental overload, probably PTSD. I KNOW I will have to interact with people, p.e. write a fucking letter, but my people interaction batteries are totally drained from work/kid/wife/whatever. For me it is a sign that my brain/self just can not do this task. Probably think about what general category your task falls in and think about that respective battery level. Might not help to do the task, but to get to know the reason to why not.

Fritzboxes are rock stable, and support Wireguard from FritzOS 7.5 onwards, see https://avm.de/service/vpn/wireguard-vpn-zur-fritzbox-am-computer-einrichten/

(Apparently NOT the cable versions!)

What nags me most with them is that you have no separate Firewall controll over their WiFi, and the WiFi range is not really great. So probably consider going with dedicated APs instead.
