I don't have much to say, so...hey there.

And this is why things like pirating are not only acceptable but necessary. When companies lock services behind paywalls for products we should legally own, we are left with no recourse but to obtain the services we are owed illegally.

Not to be the fly in the ointment, but you can't really just add those up and expect that number to be accurate if we're trying to look at unique users within the fediverse. If I had to hazard a guess, a not-so-insignificant chunk of those probably overlap (i.e. users who have made multiple accounts across several instances). I have made an account across lemmy.world, lemmy.ml, kbin and fedia just as backups in case one instance fails. I might be an extreme case having 4, but pretty sure it's becoming increasingly common for people to have at least 2 accounts (1 on a different instance).

You forgot to add the "Edit: " part because they always have to come back and edit every 2 minutes.

Edit: "Whoa my first gold! Thanks!"

Edit2: "Wow this is silly, thanks everyone!"

Edit3: "While you're here, let me tell you my life story."

Guess it's hard to type coherently when you're eating shit

We need to make sure we come up with a way to enforce it as well!

While the authenticity of this is dubious, I don't think OP knows what a pyramid scheme is...

Look up MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) schemes if you need a reference point.

Ahahaha I love malicious compliance. I sincerely hope they do that.

Boobs + Pussy = Bussy right?... Right??

This just in: People guilty of thing are accused of doing the thing.

No shit. It's their fault. SCOTUS and GOP should be blamed.

Tell me you're from Texas without actually telling me you're from Texas

Evel

Why didn't I think of buying a lake house!?

Came here to say this as well. As funny as this would be if it were an accident, just prior to me going scorched earth on my accounts I saw several subreddits in protest that made everyone subscribed to their sub a mod, and confirmed it myself.

It's very likely a subreddit that the person was subbed to and forgot/didn't know they were doing that.

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin

They misspelled republican in disguise wrong

Why let them have all that content you provided though? Don't get me wrong what you all do with your accounts is your business. I'm not about to be that person that comes barging in with "YOU NEED TO DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT", but if it helps lend any credibility to what I have to say - I was on there for over a decade with over 150k karma (99% of that comment karma so I participated a lot in discussions over the years) and as difficult as it was, I deleted my post/comment history and then my account. I don't want to support them by allowing them to profit off of my free labor/efforts.

Not saying every single comment I made was gold or worth much, but if it helps them to pump up their numbers for advertisers/stockholders then I'd just as soon remove my contribution.

Which is still more of an accomplishment than any of these adult asshacks are capable of.

It's a clean burning fuel I tell you hwat

Yup. Pirating is about filling a need where companies sorely lack in providing services. When a company provides a shitty service or offers no viable alternative to obtaining something I would gladly pay for, pirating bridges that gap.

He may have committed some...light insider trading

Edit: inb4 people don't get the joke

I really REALLY hate to bring up Reddit since I know everyone is sick of hearing about it, but this is just like when Subreddits were determining whether or not to go dark and some of the more popular ones opted to just say or do nothing because they didn't want to go against the grain.

FFS I wish people would grow a pair and fight back.

I recently came dangerously close to having to use LinkedIn as my job was up in the air for awhile due to RTO shenanigans. I knew it was always a site for shilling but when I reactivated my account to update my resume, my God the amount of corporate back patting was insane. People I knew IRL as down to earth hardworking folks, were shilling so hard for a company that couldn't give two fucks less who they are and were using every buzz word from the white-collar, salaried company bootlicker playbook in every post.

Now, I know that's "the game" and if you want to get ahead you have to play, so I can't blame them for grinding, but at the same time, fuck that. I guess I'm fine being where I am and never moving up because I refuse to play that BS.

I work for Amazon corporate. I can emphatically agree that right now, and for the past few post-COVID years, Amazon's only obsession is near term quarterly profits for stakeholders by any means necessary. To hell with long term investments. They are slowly sabotaging themselves internally with a lot of unpopular and frankly idiotic and nonsensical decisions that will ultimately result in cascading failure after failure. The enshittification continues.

The call came from inside the house!!!

Racism, alcohol/drugs in cop's system, or both.

Yar har, fiddle de dee Being a pirate is alright to be Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free You are a pirate!

I'll give them the benefit of a doubt and say they still aren't used to how magazines/communities work here and didn't notice they were commenting within a community dedicated to the very thing they don't wish to see.

It's a very big benefit I'll grant you, but I'll give it to them all the same.

Or a vampire with Social Anxiety.

Imagine being alive for 600 years and you still think about and cringe at that time 456 years ago when you accidentally bit someone in the shoulder instead of the neck.

On the flip side, anytime I've tried to use it to write python scripts for me, it always seems to get them slightly wrong. Nothing that a little troubleshooting can't handle, and certainly helps to get me in the ballpark of what I'm looking for, but I think it still has a little ways to go for specific coding use cases.

That's true. Free stress testing the system I guess? Still they need to touch grass lol

Nothing grinds my gears more than looking for a tech solution / coding solution to a problem, only to find one other person had the same issue, and then finding that the original post was either deleted like in OPs, or just "nevermind I fixed it".

Anyone who votes for any republican at this point is a moron

Many of whom have dissenters and/or "Reddit Sympathizers" within their team that would sooner sell out the rest of the mod team just to keep what measly crumbs of "power" they have.

Same, though I'm pansexual so you can leave off those last three words

Oh nice! I'm bisexual AND I love broccoli! But... I'm not a woman tho-

Oh no.

No need for a comma there ;)

The title and post kinda make me think of those 1-2 sentence horror stories.

"With tears in his eyes, the genie looks at me as he grants my third and final wish. There was nothing he could do to stop it."

You lost buddy. Go home.
