Hello, I'm just another Redditor exploring the lemmy.world

thank mr skeltal

I don't know if it's the Google engineers that "want" to do this

I feel like there should be a Lemmy version of everything now

At some point you're just so tired that comfort and time is much less of a factor, I mean I feel like I can fall asleep anyti

See, I get that this is a thing, but I don't understand why you just want someone to listen. What does sitting here, looking you in the eye and opening my ears, specifically do to make you feel better about the problem you're having?

Wow, this is crucial reading. Previously I was basing my dislike for Threads federation because Meta but this has refined my overall stand greatly. Thanks for this.

I had a hard time understanding why people would listen to Rogan after reading all these articles about him. Then my wife and I talked about it for a little bit and I took a listen to an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience.

I'm completely talking out of my ass here but I think Rogan is a good/influential conversationalist. I think people get carried away by his views because of the convenience of his skill, kinda similar to how some people tend to err on the broad side of being agreeable when talking to a stranger for the first time, at least in a North American context. Set up the "conversation" as a podcast and it's easy for familiarity to build with his audience. People getting familiar with his content then subconsciously decide that they really agreed in the first place because he talks nice and now they're a fan.

Great orators are amazing at getting you to nod your head in agreement. I've "fallen victim" to it as well with Obama in his 2004 DNC speech. Just rose tint everywhere. It's a little easier to understand through this but of course I am so open to being completely wrong about this. What do you guys think?

Lol what do you even do in this situation? I don't even know what I did wrong, just trying to connect

I hope we see more donations. I for one will for sure make a few over time

I haven't played a lot of games like this but from all of the games I've played in the past 20-ish years, this one shot up to near the top of my list. I must have dropped at least 200 hours on this game on my first playthrough, just appreciating every little detail there was and doing all of the side quests.

The gameplay itself is already amazing, but to me what really shone was the brilliant, brilliant writing. I have never read such intensely hued writing in a video game.

  1. My PC. It's not a beefy system by any means... it only has an i3 8100, a 1060 6GB, and 16 GB RAM, all bought for about $600 in 2018, but since then this has been generally the best thing that's ever happened to me coming from a low-income household. My family lost a lot of financial and emotional stability over the past few decades so as a person growing up I always felt like I was going to stumble. Thankfully this little big thing has provided that stability for me as a troubled individual. As I get older it's allowed me to catch up on my traumas and build my own life out of it on my terms. It may not see use forever, but some part of it (no pun intended) will always be a part of my life.

  2. My and my wife's rings. We've given ourselves to each other so much and while it was always a given that we would spend the rest of our lives together, it unexpectedly strengthened these feelings when we made it official. We're each other's pillars.

  3. My coffee grinder. Hehe.

Sim racing isn't necessarily too quirky or obscure but I do it to maintain some sort of maybe possibly ADHD. Doing laps around a track really helps with getting myself used to focusing.

It's especially helpful because each lap around a race track tends to be only 1 - 2 minutes, which is a relatively easy amount of time to keep focus at any one point in time, but keeping it up for consecutive laps and remaining consistent as time builds up in small increments is a different kind of joy to me.

I think it's okay if there's a service charge, but it should be obvious like this and tipping afterwards shouldn't even be brought up. It's not the best solution for everyone but it's a step in the right direction of no fucking tipping

I'm still on Death Stranding like last week. I can't get enough of this game, though I wish the Director's Cut version was available on Game Pass

I used to really love R. Kelly's Bump N' Grind, until... Well, I think everyone knows at this point

I was a bit confused about the place at first too. Here's a comment I copy-pasted from a previous post of mine:

My friend gave me a great explanation:

  • Lemmy the platform is planet Earth

  • “Instances” like lemmy.world, lemmy.ml, beehaw.org, etc. are like the different countries on Earth

  • When someone signs up, the user picks one instance to be a part of, like how an Earthling becomes a citizen of a country

  • If you register at lemmy.world, that means your home instance/ “home country” is lemmy.world, but you can “travel” to lemmy.ml, another instance / “country”, to check out and subscribe to their community

  • When you subscribe to a different instance that’s not your home instance, you can still participate in their content, and other people will be able to see which instance / “country” you’re from

  • Each instance can have its own version of the same “subreddit”, so you can have a c/Memes in your home instance that is different from a c/Memes in another instance. But you can subscribe to both separately

  • c/[community name] is the naming convention used here I think like r/[subreddit name] on Reddit. If talking about a community in a different instance, it's c/[community name]@[instance name] so like c/memes@lemmy.ml

  • Donations will help with the cost of running lemmy.world only and not lemmy.ml, beehaw.org, etc.

Someone please correct any of this if any of it is wrong, I’ll happily edit

Hope it helps even a little

Just needs a bit more content every day and we're good tbh. Also I miss my video game subs like MonsterHunterMeta...

Well this is already taking points off for sure. But let's see if the show is good. If they stay true to the games and create a truly unique show, maybe it will be worthwhile.

Okay this makes sense. I didn't realize that people feel tend to feel better when their pain is understood. Maybe I should give it a try sometime. Thanks for opening up my brain!

You're going to a Burning Man-style event and you don't want to poop on June 25th because it's Anne Frank's birthday and in your pursuit to become the true Hide & Seek Champion you think it would be best/hilarious to "Anne Frank" your poop for three days

Monster Hunter. I must have spent over 1,800 hrs. on the two latest series. I can't exactly turn my brain off with this game but nothing makes me more comfortable than having a Lance or Charge Blade in my hands.

OUT. SIIIIIIIIDE!

That felt real good

Philippines here. You cannot trust the tap water in this country anywhere, even after boiling. You really have to use a good water filter or just buy jugs of purified water from a water station.

You just described my entire journey for my first two days on Lemmy

Damn that's just over 1 and a half pints

+1 for Divinity, Red Prince Theme is a banger

Also, I'll yield to none!

"Robert’s your mother’s brother" -- I'm stealing this, thank you

If you use your sword to stab your shield, you'll create an axe with spinning blades

Reddit preaches democracy but suddenly when this same democracy votes to focus on John Oliver content, they threaten to take control.

From "redit is 4 evry1 guise lets be demcratic" to no, not like that. Fuck it I'm taking this shit "

What a disaster man

He's probably talking about his dissatisfaction with Google's entire Android platform on top of Pixel Pass

A Toyota Pixis Mega/Honda N Van as a daily and a toy on the side, that's ideal for me and maybe it should be for Americans too. But I'm biased because I love driving

Death Stranding on Game Pass. I'm about 60 hrs in and it's really different, the good kind

Holy shit you're right. I feel like I just grew a brain cell

Pro tip: Buy the family plan in Asia. It's like $5 a month here for 5 people

I agree but my dude this meme format is for being intensely sarcastic about things you hate, not saying how much you actually love something

It's cool though

Next month, I would have been on Reddit for 12 years. I'm with you here man, hope to see your community thrive smoothly
