Fan of Linux, modifying firmwares, and open source software. Mostly here to kill time and contribute to Lemmy's growth.
If you want to play a game together over XLinkKai shoot me a message. I have an original Xbox, PS2, and a PS3 I can use.
Parents feeding their baby cola in bottles and smoking while pregnant are two things that usually cause me to make assumptions
I can't say I blame them when it comes to going with what's comfortable.
I used Windows and Linux while in school so it's what I got used to. Whenever I use MacOS I feel incredibly lost
Even though it's meaningless I have seen some people in different communities voting down comments and posts they don't agree with like on Reddit which is unfortunate.
For the piracy community I hope it doesn't just turn into passive aggressive comments directing people to the megathread all the time.
I like helping people dig for obscure stuff
I feel like Redditers aren't doing it on purpose. They just want all the niche communities they're accustomed to not really thinking about the work it takes to get them started and rolling or moderate
This is going to be interesting in the long term for a lot of subreddits when people sort by top posts. Similar to when ever sub had a net neutrality post stickied
You might want to check out of F-Droid if you haven't already (not sure if you are already or if you are getting apps from GitHub, the Google Play store, or an APK mirror site). It's great for free open source apps.
I appreciate the customization options and simplicity of a lot of them. I also haven't come across an app that requires a constant internet connection for verification which is nice
Mobile was the most popular platform, with 60% of online respondents playing on phones or tablets. Console and PC audiences were each about half that, with 33% of people playing on PC and 32% playing on console.
Considering mobile phone games counted I feel like that makes sense. I thought the article would be referring to devices designed specifically for gaming (ex. Xbox One, PS5, Switch, and so on)
You can see why in the comment
I tried to sign up. Missed an answer to one of 3 questions. Application got rejected. Tried it once again but I can't do that with the same email. Need to appeal by installing/using another app to do so. What?!
It's the technical issues and general troubles people have adjusting to Lemmy. It doesn't help that Lemmy and its mobile apps are still rapidly developing.
A lot of people are lazy too. They've gotten accustomed to having certain communities available with a single login while they poop.
Lots of people also found the whole Reddit blackout cringy, unjustified, and pointless largely missing the point.
I wonder if head gestures are somewhat universal. Is shaking your head up and down always a yes?
Wasn't /u/AwkwardTheTurtle kind of exploitative herself?
I think people may have just immediately jumped to thinking about it as pseudoscience like sunning your balls or Reddit's NoFap where people had a habit of exaggerating the effects.
I wouldn't sweat a few downvotes though. It's a niche topic and maybe the right people just haven't found it yet. It may just take time for your community to grow
That was an interesting read, thanks for posting.
Personally I think it's like that Dark Knight quote "you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain". I left Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram due to changes they made. I'm not overly surprised I left Reddit
Worth noting you can export your subscriptions on NewPipe so you can bring them to other platforms.
On PC you can you use Individious
Have you ever added the word Reddit to a web search so you could find an answer online a lot of digging?
Stuff like that I imagine got hit hard. There will always be core communities that either stay up or are easy replicate but I imagine they'll be losing a lot of smaller communities.
I feel like China's issue was winning the war on birds
This made me chuckle, thanks
On top of what other people have already said each instance has different rules. One instance might have rules against NSFW content and defederate from NSFW instances while others may be fine with it.
Have you considered playing a shorter singleplayer game? I find I get fatigued by how long some games can go on for whether it's multiplayer like The Elder Scrolls Online or a sandbox game like Red Dead Redemption.
Maybe you could try something like GRIS? It's a relaxing game with a neat art style that that only takes about 3 hours to beat.
Don't you think things might become muddled if it serves both purposes? How often do you see people on Reddit admitting they were wrong or compromising versus arguing and when one side concedes just downvoting the other persons comments?
On a sidenote one thing that bugged me about Reddit was people making a comment that agreed with another comment but added nothing but still getting up votes because people agree with it. For example "This" with nothing else.
There is Memmy as well but the setup process and development period might be a bit much for some people
You could look into flashing a different firmware like DD-Wrt or Fresh Tomato. I use my second router to connect everything at my desk
I once had a man very high on drugs try to sell me his shirt on the bus before calling me several slurs when I turned him down.
When I was drunk once I nearly got into a fight with a marine who was probably twice my size because he was trying to kick pigeons for fun
Hasn't it been stated it's not a coup?
Prigozhin says his aim is "not a military coup but a march for justice" and it comes after a long-running war of words with Russia's military chiefs escalated dramatically.

I don't know what the difference between that and a march for justice are though.
All posts could require l33t speak. Go full in on the "I'm a early 2000s hacker because I can ping Google" vibe.
Fascinating. I am so used to giving the single head nod as an acknowledgedment to people I might have to avoid it if I'm aboard
I feel like it's the occasional unpredictability that people are scared of. Whether it's people being unable to tell if something was created by ChatGPT, if it's pulling false sources, or people finding ways around set limitations and filters.
Ahead of the Tuesday post, more than 300 subreddits had committed to staying dark indefinitely, SpicyThunder335 said. The list included some hugely popular subreddits, like r/aww (more than 34 million subscribers), r/music (more than 32 million subscribers), and r/videos (more than 26 million subscribers). Even r/nba committed to an indefinite timeframe at arguably the most important time of the NBA season. But SpicyThunder335 invited moderators to share pledges to keep the protests going, and the commitments are rolling in.
A surprising amount of big names there. I figured it would be more obscure/niche subreddits like /r/TaylorSwift, /r/SpaghettiWesterns, or something like that
Clover
Can you mount them? If so what does that look like?
It likely depends instance to instance due to how Lemmy is federated. You may want to try browsing some small communities that you enjoy and seeing if they want an extra mod.
I imagine a lot of the time they don't feel the need to actively looking for one just yet but if the community sees a surge in people that might change in a hurry
I haven't come across a general community for it though to answer your question
If the Phantom Liberty update does the same, I'm hopeful it'll be the expansive sendoff that Blood and Wine was for The Witcher 3."
It's interesting to see them mention the Witcher 3 considering that also had a messy launch and it's fair share of bugs.
I've seen a few people use that tool. I wonder if it would set off any flags in terms of spam filters
Hotline Miami 2. I've beat it on several platforms but I really don't think it's as good as the original.
Fallout 3. Mostly due to the mountain of technical issues it has on PC but even playing on console you can run into stability issues.
Yeah in the same remixing a song is considered original
I really think it comes down to the individual. I personally think that Aldous Huxley's book Brave New World was likely derived at least partially from the book We by Russian author Yevgeny Zamyatin but both Aldous Huxley and my 10th grade English teacher would disagree. I don't think it's wrong to take someone else's work and add upon it in a way you view beneficial. I view it as a natural evolution if anything and if it gives someone something to enjoy or makes the creative processes a little easier I'm all for it.
I bought a different brand of this not realizing it didn't have meat once. The disappointment was real
I misread the word development in the title to mean no longer manufactured instead of no longer improved upon.
Does that mean LED-LCD TVs dead in the water? Not necessarily. As we’ve seen from Vizio, TCL, Samsung, LG and Sony, there’s still a huge demand for lower-cost LED-LCD TVs as well as LED-LCD monitors. Those will continue to be produced for years to come — and will likely continue to drop in price — just don’t expect to see many improvements on them compared to their more expensive counterparts.
Sounds like they'll be around for a while yet
You can buy thick water (designed for people who have trouble swallowing) at pharmacies and every so often I'll mess with the new guy at work by filling a water bottle with it and taking a swig first thing in the morning after a weekend before saying something like "Damn don't you hate when you forget your water and it goes bad?" and pouring out a thick stream
