I'm more interested of how much satire, sarcasm, irony and parody they bring into gta 6. Not really care about graphics since whats shaping up gta is the satirical of the world especially usa.

If they still keep those in check on release, rockstar still had the balls.

Even though it is coming from rockstar main studios, I just hope it won't be end up like Saints Row reboot which turn out become massive joke and the volition had to close up lmao.

As someone who games solely on pc nowaday simply because having other things to do, I don't mind waiting even more so the chance I will get it on launch day is null.

Remember fellas vote with your wallet, do not get blinded by hypetrain.

I'm pretty sure most of people who mainly use discord as their main social apps probably never touched forum-based internet.

Hosting your own forum is also better as you (the owner of the site) can still retrieve the msgs as long as you still have the access to the host server (so you can back them up in case shutting down, then going to resurfacing later).

Not to mention using discord is already risking yourself because of their shitty policy.

Rockstar historically always have delayed pc port, and issues on launch for their pc release. Maybe 2026 is more on reality (gta 4 pc port is released in less than a year, and it was the worst performing gta on pc iirc).

As someone who mostly lurking back in reddit, lemmy sort of forces me to engage (give back) in community. While at first I felt weird, it grow on me to contribute for discussion and hopefully I can start my own post in a community lol.

Internet Archive - Very useful for general usage internet but not for specific needs (check fmhy).

Have I Been Pwned? - Periodically use this to check whether your email/online presence is compromised or not.

Bitwarden (or if you want to self-host it use Vaultwarden) - Personally I used this password management so I can keep my pass and you can auto generate passwords with custom parameters if needed.

Curated OSINT resources - You want to ID someone online? this resources can help you to do so, though you also need to understand the basics. It may not work if person you're looking for does not have a much online presence.

Can't wait Fallout 4 Special Edition and Anniversary Edition.

Tell me you never used Arm based system for daily drive without telling me you never used Arm based system. General software compatibility is not there and PC is not only on Windows or Mac. Sure on Mac they have enterprise support for their user. By having more power (bruteforcing) to run the emulation simply does not mean the software run flawless.

Maybe I'm a bit bias since I'm comparing it with SBCs (but thats what is affordable). As someone who have Raspberry Pi 4 and Orange Pi 5, the situation is a bit different. Raspberry Pi have a well supported system by communities and the devs, meanwhile on Orange Pi 5 some drivers are not released by the Orange Pi/left to the dust if there are no maintainer, not to mention if you want specific build of binary which not covered by repo/ppa, you have to build yourself from source, and the GPU driver situation for OPi5 which not yet have Vulkan support and sub par performance on Linux meanwhile on RPi5 they have Vulkan support 2 weeks after release.

I wish people understand that if you have any public/online presence, pretty much you can get tracked, especially in this age where ordinary people can track someone from their fingertips (and devices), for example Elon's Jet which get tracked too using public data.

It feels like when someone use Facebook (or any big services), skipped EULA, and then complain that they're being tracked...

just my 2cent from average joe.

Early 2010s internet called, they want their vaporwave and nightcore edit back

Woah, seeing Nova launcher name with enshittification makes me trip down memory lane.

I remember using one of these launcher apps on my Jelly Bean 2013 lenovo phone, Nova Launcher app being one of them that felt good to me, though as time passes and more I delve into rooting and custom roms, I just stick to whatever launcher is included in the rom or just use stock launcher. Maybe I'm becoming old timer that need "it just functions, simple, and no bs" guy. Been using stock launcher on android since 2016.

FreeCAD alternative so we can have another FOSS CAD drawing software :(

No, I'm actually cool with FreeCAD but an alternative is welcome one especially one that can work on linux.

Been using revanced, sometimes using Iceraven (ff fork) w/ ublock origin on phone, and using librewolf (another ff fork) also w/ ublock origin on desktop. So far never encountered slow down since November 2023.

Is this slow down only on select extension issue? Although when it first happend (late 2023) I was thrown up by sudden yt not loading on my librewolf but it only happend only on single day, afterward it gone.

Hopefully it can go mainstream with adoption from oems and ram kit manufacturers though I'm pretty sure it will cost a fortune for such kit that want to edges out both performance and repairability.

For everyone who uses searxng, is it great for day to day browsing? Do I require to host my own instance or the setup is as easy as requiring to add "searxng" option on my browser app?

I'm interested to move away from google as it becomes shitty everyday and loses its effectiveness for advanced query (based on my own result compared during 2013 up to pre covid). Bing have weird result on my region so cannot use it, ddg only for occasional use.

Thanks!

NFS World come to mind, there is mod that allows you to play the game with emulated server (so you can play it offline). Also the community made an effort to recreate the client and restore the game by making community servers (alongside some added custom content).

Maybe MMOs that have custom client or simply localhosted emulated server mod count on this context.

The only thing that hold me back full-time linux daily driving due to workplace uses M$ suites (Office, Teams, Outlook and so on) and CAD program (Freecad pita for me, haven't tried Ondsel addon).

I don't think they would just abandon the support overnight (unless they're being greedy af and want to drive the failed "Windows 11" adoption very fast). The fact that they only make "sudo" utility only for Windows 11 is disguting (though you can do it yourself on windows 10 too), pretty sure they will keep giving security patches just like XP and 7 being legacy system.

In a sense of gritty crime story telling? Yeah I'd agree. Things that make SR1 & 2 differs from GTA is that they dont shy away from goofiness and let players having fun with lots of side activity but at same time they also have coherent direction where the story heading at (like Yakuza series).

Though I would be more cautious in writing as the only veteran staff of GTA creation that stays on Rockstar is Sam Houser. Dan Houser (his brother), Leslie Benzies and some others key people had leave Rockstar games due to some internal issues as far as I know.

Have read the article.

Maybe call me ignorant but as someone from Eastern part of the world, sometimes I wonder why would these people worry when all of these AI stuff are still prompted from human input, in a sense that We are the one who creates them and dictates its actions. All in all they're just closed loop automata that happens to have better feedback input compared to your ordinary Closed loop system machines.

Maybe these people worried because these (regular people) don't know how these things works or simply they don't have or lack of self control in first place which what makes them feels like having no control about what happening.

I understand the danger of AI too, but those who prompted them also human too, in which it is just human nature by itself.

Hmm, pocketable mech keeb? 🤔

Pocketable IBM model F keyboard sounds rad for typist (no pun intended).

At the moment, I am doing New Vegas hudless run (VNV modlist + JSUE Tweak) on my spare times. Honestly I am adore it due to the fact it feels like 3D Fallout 2 as previously I run my playthroughs using hud. However this also makes you need to be perceptive as on this tweaked game raider tends to ambush you so you kind of develop second nature of how you perceive surrounding on Mojave. Even though people may thinking hudless does not make a sense, it simply each on theit own enjoyment as you cannot please everyone with same tricks every single time.

Although not hudless, but in GTA San Andreas I can notice a landmark or a spot of the map just from a pictures. It feels like ingrained on my mind from my countless hour doing SP as kids and playing SAMP during my teenage years.

As much as I understand the disappointment, from development point I tolerate them as Rockstar ever since they had their own in house Game Engine, they does not shoehorn the game into a mess of unplayablility (see common AAA studios). Not to mention those jack of all trade engine (e.g UE, Unity, CryEngine) while you can make the project multiplatform, the optimization that need to be done is far more time consuming (reading the docs of the SDK) compared to an Engine you build your own, an example of this on recent release is Yakuza Ishin, Ishin use Unreal Engine and run worse compared to every Yakuza games they released prior (which they did use their in-house game Engine).

Rockstar made it clear focus on to deliver console optimization on front ever since GTA III released (technical standpoint see GTA San Andreas on PS2, GTA V on PS3 and X360, Max Payne 3 on console).

Even though from PS4/XONE we have x86 arch console, the uniformity of console specs leads the easy to work on optimization rather than plethora of hardwares that available on Personal Computer space.

Maybe I am sounded defending Rockstar but I gave my opinion from my past experience as game modder so knowing those SDK a bit. If you want to blame, you can blame the higher up on T2 since those parties the one tied up the Rockstar (R* owned by T2). I do have a share of disappointment when they took down the Reverse Engineered code of 3D era gta codes, but that incident also have grey area as some says that some portion of the code are part of original code.

AI is a reflection of human nature, but it isn’t necessarily an easily controlled or shaped reflection of that.

This partly true especially models that deployed on public and uses large samples gathered from large amount of peoples. Now the parts that we can't control is if the model is trained with skewed dataset that benefits certain outcomes.

I'll explain it in layman's terms...

  • There is always a price (inconvenience) for secure-ness in online world.
  • There's 2 option to host a forum,
    1. You can use service like forum hoster or rent a VPS (so you can setup your own server although not self-hosting).
    2. Self-host yourself (this one a bit tricky if you aren't prepared).
  • Learn some good basic OpSec habit (eg. Never use same password, Never put your personal detail in your active directory especially on your site source document, use 2FA and so on).
  • Learn to spot a phising or malicious link and never to randomly click random link in an email (in times when someone tried to social engineering you).
  • Use reputable service provider if you are not going to self-host yourself.
  • If you happen to self-host, make sure to check your open ports and secure them. Bots always probing any site in the world!
  • For some reason if you're going to run sketchy stuff, never use your real credential. This point may not apply on your region as it depends on your local law.

Text that you can hear.

Maybe in my message seems to focus solely on discord for putting the blame... The problem nowadays is that mostly these "devs" share/upload/host their releases in Discord which means you do use Discord's CDN to host their files. Another common complaint of these practices is that you need to join their server in order to just download relevant files which makes it infuriating if you stumbles across these practices often. For example I joined 8 different discord servers just to download a software/binary/release, why can't just put the release on something like Mediafire, Google Drive, Megaupload or perhaps sourceforge.

I do understand Discord is communication platform but most of time some people are too lazy to manage stuff so what happen is that everything is hosted in single place as such Discord.

To be honest, it is first time I discover OpenSCAD, probably due to its nature modeling by programming rather than visually.

Logically you do want to model by visually especially when it's more complex geometry and perhaps that's reason why you may seeing them less getting recommended in general when something like BricsCAD (Education license), OnShape exists.

I agree Fusion 360 (on Windows) with Free Hobbyist/Personal license is good start to learn CAD modelling for free though as year went by the Hobbyist license becoming stricter and limited in term of policy which raising red flag for hobbyist, not to mention Autodesk also converting users lifetime license into subscription without any notice is enough reason to stay away unless your job provides you those CAD program licenses.

As someone who back in 2010s up to 2016 regularly visits gtaforums to discuss modding and waiting for gta v pc release, I can say no. People back in 2015 launch had issues ranging from simply unable to launch, infinite loading screen, close to the desktop, to missing graphical effects (even after driver update).

In term of recent gta release, gta v definitely is more optimized in a sense but if your information based on something like Digital Foundry retrospective videos... Well idk, since they tested it with "optimized" setting and not in launch version.

Just my 2cent from my past experience.

As someone who last time did Altair and Ezio saga hudless, I can agree. While the game may be dated it can bring immersion and less simulation-y

UPDATE (2023/12/21): ~110 hrs of New Vegas playthrough finally finished. Finally finished my playthrough as Mercenary Anarchy Courier. ::: spoiler spoiler Not sure if FPGE did alter something but after finishing the playthrough, it feels the "warmness" vibe of post-post apocalypse of Fallout gone when Hoover Dam battle is near and finished, perhaps because NCR is wiped out, definitely the writing still ok as the only way to make the game "Win" is you do not finish the game if you do not want to make bad decision for Mojave Wasteland. Maybe I will try to explore a bit post-ending with this FPGE mod. ::: While I am glad I finished this playthrough, I also had bit of "guilty pleasure" from finishing this one as much as time consuming it is while also I want to finish it as soon as I can because dragging on playthrough would make it even unpleasant for me to finish it due to busy stuff RL, same reason why I rarely want to pick up JRPGs nowadays because most of time having 60 hrs - 80 hrs minimal to complete is bit painful for those who had busy life. At very least I glad I am done with it.

While also few days ago I tried to emulate WMMT5s on PC, thought to try multiplayer with private client, ended up disappointed as it seems every discord server that "facilitates" the community is closing down their invite link or maybe threatened by Bandai Namco because most of these people play a game that still active on Arcade Cabinet and emulate them on home using a software on their own PC. At the same times I wonder why Bandai Namco would not bring these arcade games into PC while the said system (the Arcade) actually PC system in disguise since the demand is still there for Wangan racing genre although not as much as something like mainstream Arcade Racer (e.g FH5, Crew Motorsport etc). I do not know the latest Initial D the Arcade Stage since I do not have interest in Touge racing.

Planning to get NFS 2015 in winter sale, want to complete my NFS Collection on Steam and experiencing NFS 2015 in retrospective as back during release I did not managed to play it due to lack of interest.

Clocking in at ~100 hrs on my current annual New Vegas playthrough, I'm trying to finish this one as my previous playthroughs always end abruptly nearing the End. The options to solve a problem/quest is what makes this game never be boring and you can RP anything you like (although I have not tried Legion Courier, maybe in future). At the moment I am on my way at the start of Lonesome Road as before concluding the story in Hoover Dam battle.

Viva New Vegas with JSUE tweak makes the game feels like classic Fallout and force player to be resourceful and use every features that the game offer, however I do not recommend to use JSUE tweak if you only played Bethesda Fallout game as Fallout 1 and 2 is a bit infuriating in term of early game difficulty (if you do not know what to do), stick to Vigor Lite if you want closer to vanilla easy difficulty.

I recommend to start learning fundamental electronics first then move up to microcontrollers (if you're interested for that) or straight to device. Make a habit of reading datasheet. Reading datasheet is necessity to understand the characteristic of components you're after.

While learning Arduinos are good to learn how to handle microcontrollers are interfacing electrics modules. Learning electronics fundamental is good start to put more confident handling electronics (especially low voltage/current stuffs). You may want to tweak lower devices first as higher power devices such as SMPS, Inverter, old CRT TV, Higher power amplifier require more understanding power electronics.

Afterward steps up to analog electronics (op amp, transistors, mosfets) then digital electronics (digital ics, microcontrollers). At this stage reading datasheet is a must in order to not miss anything from components you are going to use.

For learning via youtubes, you can try visit eevblog, GreatScott (general purpose), bigclivedotcom (general device disassembly/tear down), afrotechmods (his old videos are still good for explanation). For books, try to check other commenters.

You can learn at any pace and most importantly have fun :D

My tip for faster learning is by doing a fun project, it can help to motivate learning. You can start with something simple but adds QoL like making room thermometer using modules and microntroller.

source: Am recently graduated mechatronics engineering student, currently working on automotive industry.

Yes. You can emulate almost every mainline Megaten games. However, native pc port lets user to have accessibility (especially for casual user) instead of going through steps setup emulator. Paired that with reasonable regional price (except I doubt in the case of ATLUS/SEGA), they can have free money printer while at the same time adds more availability to how you play them.

After all these year, finally modern mainline smt on PC

This is the apparent problem that mostly not most of the victim (consumerism) aware, especially those who have large amount of expendable fund, or someone who bored enough that they dont have alternative time consuming activity other than gaming.

For me I think it is more for JRPG genre games as growing older makes me unable to access them easily as I was younger due to time constraint, somehow I am more appreciate shorter game because I can finish them faster.

This reminds me of my Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System that I had on PS2, lost track where I was progressing and not really want to finish it as I felt the world is large enough with some hidden optional bosses. Another instance of unfinished playthrough is my SMT: Strange Journey because I had lost my track due to irl stuff while the save had 80hr on the clock.

Another series that I would not finish is Harvest Moon/Story of Season, had Back to Nature and A Wonderful Life on PS2 back then (and now on steam), could not complete them as it feels more like a chore. First year is enough for me to mark it as complete.

Payday 2 too with thousands of achievements that I did not bother to collect, I just played them for fun and with friends.

np, NFS World probably bit niche side of NFS even though there was EA Black Box involvement on that game, while the original World has MTX nature, the emulated server deletes them and convert them into the same in game currency that you won from events.

I keeping tab on NFS Edge restoration (Project Verge) as I never played them (It was China only iirc) and it seems pretty fun if the MTX part are gone, hopefully they can manage to replicate the success like in SBRW to allow custom community server.

As someone who back then experienced symbian java/java games on my father' and brother' phone, I partially agree. For some reason back in 2010-2012, here on Indonesia, cheap Symbian based phone are booming. You can buy a cheap symbian phone with preloaded mp3s and some java .jar games from local phone booth. For me personally I played those java games on my brother Nokia E63 (which is fun) or my father' Sony Ericson phone (forgot which model). Java games solely responsible for me to discover Gameloft that made those knockoff mobile games (but fun given how simple it was back then).

EDIT: Perhaps due to difference how regional tecnoloical advancement back then but here earliest I got more modern phone was in 2013 when I got my own Lenovo A369i which running Android Jelly Bean. Learn myself how to root my phone to gain more of my system (back then I was first year of Middle School). Symbian phones was one of mobile era that I fond of because it was very close to my memory of being a kid.

On similar topic, Blackberry based phone was big here in Indonesia when most of higher class use Blackberry Messenger as form of chatting, never had myself a Blackberry due to how expensive they were on Indonesia
