Likely to protect the cop/department too, since he shot at his own car that already had a disarmed, detained suspect inside. He very nearly killed someone that was already a non-threat. If the body cam footage got out it might make people think their cops are negligent or improperly trained! /ghasp

His greatest political opponent just "went missing" (from the prison he was being held in) and "nobody knows where he is now." Russians have been watching their population get ground into meat by what he originally called "a military exercise" that's been going on over six times the time estimate that he set, and he's actively making it so nobody can leave Russia without smuggling themselves out.

He wouldn't still hold office if he was playing fairly, so yes, he is that weak domestically. Get fucked, Vladolf Putler.

Not sure how this is a shitpost, this is the most accurate interpretation I've ever seen of D&D shenanigans!

Because the NFL has way too much money, industry-wise, to have any acceptable reason to not pay people.

There, I think that's a good starting point on explaining the infuriation.

Unfortunately for us Americans, the railway industry was privatized long ago, and they consistently lobby for things to only move in their favor.

"DJ" Khalid. I've heard that he's actually a very talented musician. I've never been shown proof that the claims are true.

I've been censored/shadowbanned in a couple .ml instances for calling out their overzealous comment-nuking mods. Not even political in nature, just seeing threads where 80-90% of the comments are 'removed by moderator' and commenting how suspicious it was.

Then they removed that comment, and after taking a screenshot of the new comment calling out that, I got shadowbanned and can't even vote there anymore.

If only there was some kind of book, created decades ago, with a list of words, in alphabetical order, and what each word means in different contexts.

If only such a book was added to a worldwide database that anyone can access from any kind of computer, so that anyone can use it at any time.

Somehow, some way, RDR2 was a finalist for Steam's 'Labor of Love' award. I was shocked.

For anyone unaware, the Labor of Love award is for games that "came out a while back, but keep getting better through updates." (ie No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, etc)

Bruh it wasn't just an accident. This was the presidential motorcade and secret service. Literally everybody in a 10-block radius knew who was there, and whether they had permission to be there.

This person drove their car into the motorcade, and then kept going. Secret service's job is to protect the president, and as far as anybody knew, this was someone after the president. They weren't harassing some idiot that was driving drunk, they were pursuing and engaging a very real potential threat to the leader of the nation.

I like how through these comments, you've called other users "stupid Americans" and you don't even know anything about the event in question. Good job kid.

Eggman is his actual name though. When it was brought to America it was localized as 'Robotnik' without the creators consent.

As far as the creator/developers are concerned, Robotnik is the 'stupid moniker,' as you put it.

Low hanging fruit tempts more people, more easily. He's just a really easy to hate, last decade it was Zuckerberg, this decade it's Elon.

I just hope the next person to steal the spotlight is less insufferable.

In theory, the way the US was set up as a nation, the Judicial branch of the government and the Legislative branch are supposed to stop things like that from happening.

In practice, bribes talk better than speeches or facts.

Bruh, it's a meme. Use a Britta to filter the piss out of your cornflakes and grow a sense of humor

Can we actually just ban articles that use 'slam' in the title? Unless it's two physical objects colliding? You know, actually slamming into each other?

I'm so fucking sick of this piece of garbage hyperbole.

Idk if it's actually a lemmy.ml thing or what, but coming from lemmy.world, every time I see a post from .ml, like half of the comments have been deleted by moderator(s). In general, .ml seems to have really heavy handed censorship and it gives me a really bad perception of .ml overall.

Satisfactory. It's been in early access for a few years now, 2019 I think? At the beginning of this year (2024) they announced the next update would be the 1.0 release. I've been playing it on/off for years, especially recently with all the strides they've made in development.

The game is like Factorio, but presented as an FPS. You get dropped onto a planet in a pod straight out of Halo: ODST by a space-future megacorp called Ficsit, with the goal of harvesting the planet's resources for Ficsit off-planet divisions.

I have almost 1500hrs in Satisfactory since I got it, there's no shortage of gameplay. Coffee Stain (devs) have been posting videos regularly, updating the community on new/discontinued features, revamped recipes and production rates, and even just being silly as much as being helpful, to the point where Coffee Stain is my go-to example of good devteam-community interaction.

Oh, and it also has a really good modding community, so if there's anything that's not in game, that you want in game, it's probably already been made by one or two modders.

Aptly said, by someone whose never understood why people can't "just be happy."

As a self-associated 'liberal,' I'd never once even heard of the guy before Trump picked him. That said, I'm not from his state, and it seems like literally everyone there hates him, so maybe the two are related.

Either way, calling him a "heartthrob" might be embellishment.

Yeah, antiwork was a low effort pace to cry about having to work for a living. Workreform was where all the genuine discussion about stagnating and/or shitty workplace practices.

Even the non political .ml communities are full of power-tripping, ban-happy, thread-nuking tyrants in my experience.

I don't know how much, if any of this, is due to mental illness.

I've been on depression medication for 7-8yrs and my grandma and uncles will outright dismiss any negative feelings I express at any given time, with a hand wave while saying word-for-word, "just don't be sad," or, "there's other people out there worse off."

Boy, I sure wish it was as simple as just not being that way. I don't like being depressed all the time, and I would gladly just stop if that were possible, but other people's suffering does not invalidate my own, in fact it directly contributes to my depression, as I believe that most of the suffering in the world could be minimized if more people weren't so awful.

Not to mention the things they directly do that cause my depression. I'm the only one in my immediate family that is more of an "indoor person" than I am an "outdoor person." My entire life, when they would check on me in my room, drawing, reading, or especially playing video games, the first question they'd ask is, "wouldn't you rather be outside playing?" No, if I would rather be doing that, I would be doing that.

All of that was even before I grew up and realized that they're effectively brainwashed political cult worshippers, but that's a separate, off-topic issue.

My Chihuahua mix is a very eager lapdog, couch potato, and bedbug. However if she is in any of those places and I say, 'excuse me,' or, 'I gotta get up,' then she knows it's time for her to move and gets out of the way for me.

Only twenty?!?? Man I play NMS like I play Sims or Minecraft. I put 100hrs in, get bored and don't play for a while, when I come back there's been at least one or two updates and I'm easily able to put back in another hundred with new/revised content.

Not that it's a competition, I'm just surprised cause of how much time I put into things. (x_x)

I think for fitting the syllable count, "we didn't scratch the CD," fits better. I know being a disc doesn't make it a CD, but nobody cared at the time anyway lol

Edit: still, I want this to be a Weird Al song, and your lyrics fit the theme perfectly

"If" he's guilty? Haaahahaha

Lately when someone asks me if I'm okay, my response is something akin to, "I'll neve be okay again, but I'm alive so I guess I'll suffer through it."

My life has never been particularly bad, I've always had people around me that tell me they love me and care about me, but very rarely act that way. Throughout it all I've always found someone to lean on that actually shows some level of concern, but as I get older, those people have drifted away from me, physically and sentimentally.

I've never felt more alone in life than I do now, even with a person or two that might actually care, I know they have their own lives that take precedent over me, and thus I will end up alone anyway.

I can't do anything to fix it, because factually, I can't do anything right or commendable. Even when I'm doing things I've done flawlessly in the past, I find a way to screw up somehow and make my whole life worse, and my support network (what little there is) shrinks every day.

So I'm stuck in place, crying myself to sleep every night, hoping to whatever people call 'God,' that I won't wake up. Then I cry even harder because there are people and things that I care about more than myself, but which I will never be able to do anything for.

I refuse to kill myself because of my sentimental debt to them, but if I can do nothing to help or honor them, then why shouldn't I just end it all, and hope that fate treats them better than it has me? If I'm doing nothing right by being alive, what does it matter if I'm dead?

I hate the world, and generally, but not in totality, I hate people. I hate my life and I hate myself to the very absolute core of my existence. I just want all the pain to end.

Who said anything about a nursing home? I thought we were talking about throwing punches? Cause as I said, as each party ages, they both learn who hits harder.

Any old person that acts like they can't catch hands, is literally asking for some to be thrown.

If you're 20yo still taking abuse from someone three times your age, you're not fighting hard enough for your own rights.

I hope to any and every god that may exist, that kid gets close enough to Erdogan one day, to return the favor tenfold.

It was a beat-em-up hack 'n' slash that played like an early Devil May Cry game. It was really fun, and included everything that was Deadpool at the time (he was borderline schizo during the comics at this time, and the game included both of the "other voices" in his head as a pseudo-narrator kinda thing).

Honestly a really fun game, I pirated it when it came out and now that it doesn't exist anywhere except the high seas, I regret not paying for it then. To be fair though, it had little replayability, just the, "once every few years" kind. Still a fun game though.

If they have any integrity

Haaahahahaha

Sorry, not laughing at you, the idea of game journalism having any integrity. That said, it's likely an issue with editors pandering to their CEO or other boss, but still.

I don't know if it says more about me, or more about trump that I almost thought this was a real quote.

Fucking hell, thank you. At some point I trained myself to just ignore watermarks on principle, but the reddit tag at the bottom has to be the ugliest, most obtrusive 'watermark' I've ever seen.

To add to your statement: a few years ago, Henry Cavill went to Times Square in NYC wearing a shirt with the Superman S, and just hung out around signs for Man of Steel, and pretty much nobody recognized him (or if they did, they didn't let it be known).

So is that actually what ADHD is like? When I was a kid (middle school or so), I got diagnosed with ADD, and I'm still not certain I know the differences between the two.

I do however, know that I've frequently discribed my train of thought as multiple trains, on multiple tracks, all swapping places and directions at seemingly random intervals. I can't ever follow just one train at at time (if any at all) to its destination.

Per Google, and doing the math, a gallon of cheese is 8 pounds (roughly 4kg). So that's 160lbs in a year.

Holy shit that's a fucking lot of cheese. Someone stop this madman.
