Maybe it's nothing, but Reddit seems particularly sensitive towards kbin.

Sadly, Reddit has likely won the short-term battle. But hopefully, this Blackout raises awareness of the need for alternatives. Whether it be Lemmy/Kbin, some up-and-coming site like Squabbles or Tildes, or something not yet created, the seeds of migration off Reddit have been planted. If Reddit has such apathy for its communities pre-IPO, just imagine how bad it will be post-IPO when they are dealing with Wallstreet directly.

I guess I'm glad I picked Lemmy.one -- the Switzerland of US-bases Lemmy instances :)

Looks like someone is trying to brownnose his way to an acquisition/merger.

I do too BUT, it's nice to actually get to engage with people when I make a comment due to the smaller community. Reddit is so big, my comments usually get buried quickly under the memes and quips.

Sorry for your loss, but what a fabulous way to go out! Bravo!

Just saw the Beehaw has defederated from Lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works. so you seem spot on in your assessment.

Is this just the PWA (progressive web app)? If so, just FYI it's not a true native app -- more like a downloadable version of the normal webapp that you can pin and run like it is a app. I installed it as well (for my kbin account) and it works well enough as a good stop-gap.

Keep in mind that the Android App, Jerboa, doesn't have search functionality yet.

LOL it looks like you're right. Oh well. Maybe a poweruser could use some of these extensions :D

It's his self-assuredness that bothers me most. If his attitude towards his community (or product rather) are this bad pre-IPO just wait until after and they have to keep announcing revenue growth to Wallstreet every quarter.

Yeah, same here. Lemmy sort of scratches the itch, but it's a big itch.

I've been using Connect for the last few days and so far really enjoy it. it's still missing a few features but I really like the UI.

This is a great quote. I may have to borrow it.

I hope not. I'm almost 50. But I'm not in the dating pool. I feel for anyone trying to date at our age. Better to be who you are though.

The refresh issue doesn't seem to exist in the Jerboa app. Just pointing out that App users may not be able to search for previous threads as easily. I can't tell if the iOS app Mlem has search, but the question of whether it has search has been asked multiple times and was mostly unanswered.

Also Firewatch. I wish I could go back and play that game for the first time.

Well said

I couldn't agree more. Your statement is so pointed that I'm going to save it to refer to in the future.

Yeah, I'll admit there is the excitement of having a new toy and figuring out how it all works. That takes away some of the boredom or time I'd be scrolling reddit.

I use Brave. My most used extensions are:

  • Awesome Screenshot - takes partial and full browser window screenshots. It can also record screens. It looks like they've added "ChatGPT" into the name for some reason.
  • Bitwarden - password manager
  • VisBug - allows you to view webpage styles and tinker with the layout of live webpages.
  • Homey - a replacement for the default New Tab, which includes beautiful live wall papers and convenient access to bookmarks and other widgets.

I haven't played either of these, but they sound very cool and have been on my wishlist for a while:

  • Metaphobia - a FREE game on Steam. It's a classic-style point-and-click adventure in the vein of Gabriel Knight.
  • Shadows of Doubt - An immersive sandbox detective stealth game set in a fully simulated sci-fi noir city of crime and corruption. The world is procedurally generated and you can explore and take on cases freely. Discover, meet and tail individual citizens, each with their own name, job, apartment and daily routine, in unique, procedurally-generated cities. Each case has different culprits, clues and experiences for you to test your investigative skills.

I've been hooked on Knighthood recently. It's a fun little RPG with simple mechanics. It is also in portrait mode so it's perfect for one handed play.

Prior to that, I had primarily been playing Archero which is another very fun portrait RPG.

Although I primarily play it on PC, I love that I can also play Albion Online on mobile, especially for some of the mundane farming and auction house tasks.

Other than that, I mostly stick to puzzle games like Woodoku, Wordscapes, Tents & Trees, and Grids of Thermometer.

Two: my main on Lemmy.one and another on Reddthat.com which was the first account I created. I also have a kbin.social account. Really hedging my bets.

My vision didn't start going downhill until my 40's. I am also very sensitive about my eyes to the point I can barely even put drops in. So I have resigned myself to the fact that I will be a glasses wearer from here on out.

I prefer Squiggy

I'm not sure if it is truly considered a pixel art game, but I still love Terraria.
