Its not sure how it exactly works, but most probably this captcha processes a lot of data like your mouse movement, mouse click but also your browser fingerprints, search history and ip. You can actually get 'traffic lights' test from this clicking button captacha if You have privacy protection in place, such as using brave, tor, firefox or mullvad browser and/or vpn, pluse some privacy browser extensions

We are also the biggest lemmy instance that still accepts signups ATM

Just joined lemmy.world in response to reddit's BS. Picked this instance because its sounds most normal compared to other gibberish names. Hi everyone!

I hate these filthy Neutrals. With enemies, you know where they stand but with Neutrals, who knows? It sickens me.

Looks like a 'Sorry, password samsung1 is already taken by user calaei' moment xD

This might be a good opportunity for You to join new promising communities

I am just worried that the humour will be softened, which would be a big deal foe me. Therefore Im also going with low expectations. Pls prove me wrong Futurama directors, I beg yee

Thank You for Your contribution!

Noooooooo sumimasen!!

Right, I took for granted that lemmy.world is an exception and is built in into the instance. Now that i see that it follows the rules of being c/lemmyworld I stand corrected

best username ever

Now I now I can, Im sorry for causing a disturbance

Yea im also curious. Probably a good change for some users with specific use case

I was in the wrong. Not explicitly joining the c/lemmyworld (or at least I don't remember doing it(besides joining the instance)) made me think that this community is build into lemmy.world and does not have lemmy.world/c/lemmyworld community. But thanks to You all I've been corrected

I am not talking about local communities, by default I also have only subscribed feed, but I thought that I cannot unsubscribe c/lemmyworld, which I've been corrected I actually can

This right now is a common thing for almost any action You post to the server, so commenting, posting or editing a comment might give You that swirl, but regardless of that Your action should go through. Check if the community You created exists by typing https://lemmy.world/c/yourcommunityname into URL

Thank You for the FAQ! I am new and I have two questions, if anybody would be willing to answer them that would be lovely.

At the bottom of the page there is a link to Instances. I am assuming that those are federated with lemmy.world, is that correct? If they are, then how can I utilize it? Let's take for example mastodon.social which is listed there, can I somehow subscribe to a person on mastodon so i can get their posts to show up in lemmy.world for me?

But that creates a problem with potential duplicate name, but there is even bigger problem. By export I assume You mean taking ownership so adopting this community into the new server, who decides that? First come first served does not look good in my eyes as a good solution. Since that community is stored as a copy in other instances it should maybe just go into read only mode for eternity

There is already a user named Teh in lemmy.world so maybe that's why You are unable to create an account

How will the fediverse protect its self from these hypothetical bot armies?

It's up to administrators and moderators of each server me thinks

Do you think Reddit/big companies will make attacks on the fediverse?

Right now It would bring more harm to them and extra accounts to us me thinks, but maybe in the future they create some boycott and controversy. ATM however Meta aka Facebook wants to join Mastodon

Do you think clickbait posts will start popping up in pursuit of ad revenue?

Is it even possible to make ads in lemmy?

7 more...

also, many instances do not accpet signups ATM so if You want to check which ones do, You can look it up in this site Edit: spelling corrections

Im sorry I missunderstood. I hope that good administration will prevent that. Do reddit has some other tools at it disposal to prevent that?

Im pretty sure that You sadly have to, but im on lemmy since Jun 13 so Im not confident enough to give You any proper advice. Maybe there is a workaround like having someone else to create a community from theirs instance and passing the priviliges to You but Im not sure that It is possible so The best option is to ask people that are more knowledgeable with lemmy

that's a bummer. Btw what community are You creating if I may ask?

7 more...

Oh, that's unpleasant. In this situation You can either contact the mod of this community to pass admin priviliges, make a community with different name or create a community with the same name but on different instance
