It seems most people don't understand what power of attorney means. It gives her daughter the ability to make decisions* on her behalf, yes, but doesn't grant any sort of conservatorship over her.

It's an intelligent move, especially when a person gets older, to grant PoA to someone you trust. It means if, for example, you're in the hospital, that person can still do things like pay your bills from your accounts.

EDIT: *legal, personal decisions - not senate votes. It doesn't give the daughter any right or ability to do her job.

We should take up a collective for archive.org's legal battle. Id LOVE it if they end up winning this one.

I would defederate and block any and every instance owned or strongly influenced by meta on principle alone.

Sleep? Ive been putting off sleep....

The US should send a carrier group to escort a grain vessel and see if Russia dares...

(I know theres no way this would happen, but it should)

It is VERY similar to the Divinity games. It uses somewhat modified DnD 5e rules, as opposed to Divinitys' own system (though that system took a lot of inspiration from DnD.) The RPG and world building elements will feel very familiar.

"Read reciepts ruin friendships."

I dont remember where I read that quote, but I agree with it.

Its only a week old, but I would strongly recommend Baldur's Gate 3. I would warn you, it might spoil a lot of future games for you, by setting the bar so high.

And if you want an equally emersive but MUCH older game, look up ADOM.

During my fraternity days, I would often say, "the world is my bottle opener" just before using some random object to open a beer.

All that really matters is if its sturdy and small enough to catch over your knuckle and under the rim. Literally any object like that will work.

Ultra (subscription) and "no-ads" are two different options...no ads is a one time 20USD. Ultra includes additional features beyond the core app. It also has a lifetime option, which is the very expensive one.

I do not use google wallet / samsung pay / apple pay / whatever....i carry a physical card, which is far less obtrusive than a phone...dont need a big chunk of leather around it

The "epicurian" brand is perfect for this, or their knockoffs. Its like 1/4" thick (6mm) composite wood. I have one that even fits in my laptop bag - way better than any designated "lap board" I've ever found.

I have a set of these designed for musicians, theres an open channel through them, and you put a special "button" at te outward end, that lowers volume without affecting sound quality. I think the company is called "Etymotic Research"

Im more impressed that you have spaces and a slash in your username...

I have a smaller version of this, its just slightly larger than a normal frozen pizza. Pure game changer.

You used "you're" correctly....I just might be

Miley Cyrus did a tribute to Tom Petty and it was incredible. I never thought I would say that about anything she did.

No. Which I think is where a lot of people are confused. It doesnt give the daughter any power or ability to do her job for her. Only to handle legal issues on her behalf.

Think, basically, things that she could otherwise hire a lawyer to do for her. She cannot outsource her senatorship.

I got one of these when I was in my 20s and Id still recommend it. A little grooming goes a long way.

Along the same vein, I bought a flexible desk lamp with a built in magnifying glass for this type of stuff - use it almost daily.

I keep bouncing between several, right now, thunder and connect are the top,but it changes litterally daily. If you are only going to use one,I would say stick with Jerboa until things stabalize in a month or so.

I am really looking forward to sync, as that was my default for reddit, but it isnt like ljdawson is the only person capable of making a good app,so Iam anxiosly keeping my eyes open.

I think its Mlem for iOS

If using a desktop (or anything woth a mouse) middle click opens in a new tab on most browsers. This works on ALL links, not just on a site-by-site basis

I start by cleaning something. It can be something small, like getting the clutter off my desk, but something where I can have very immediate seeable progress. That can usually get the productivity ball rolling.
