So what do you call it now that Musk censors at the request of authoritarian governments?

Expect that this is total BS, either because he watched some episodes of "how it's made" and had to immediately share the profundity with his brilliant engineers as a lame flex, or he is trying to get out in front of a general rejection of the fashion of his demolition man meme mobiles by giving no room for error from his engineers to make a mistake which will allow him to blame rhe ugliness on microscopic variations in plate size.

Playing a board game isn't problematic, but being crass and abusive about it like this is.

Putting credit cards in smart phones is not the end of the world by any stretch. Security on this front is constantly developing. Putting it into an everything app run by a guy whose first move after buying Twitter was killing multifactor auth for most of his users isn't something I would consider wise.

You might enjoy getting a wallet case though. I keep my ID and debit card in my phone case and the overall profile is pretty much the same, just slightly bulkier.

I see it as a CYA maneuver after that terrible outlook vulnerability this year that allowed malicious payloads to infect users who didn't even interact with the email. They need to make best efforts to guide ignorant or careless users to a safe space on their platform since phishing is so economically destructive and the business world is addicted to aged Microsoft products and tech like it's a fine wine

Corporate social media drives engagement using controversy. It is literally a machine that operates to piss people off. You don't get that in the fediverse because there is no central interest puppeteering the outrage

Interesting hand to play: stealing food from a robot is equivalent to any severity of criminal act. Let's talk again after licking some more of that trippy boot.

Cloud hosting does not fit in that. The service they offer is datacenters. Nobody was running an equivalent datacenter before in their server closets at the office. Taxis and television are modestly changed but datacenters for running technical operations are on a different planet than the on-prem infrastructures they replaced.

I just got one of those pillow cubes and use it all of the time because I hate myself

Okay but now there is a tragic accountability scenario to deal with. You forget you are discussing human beings and not statistics

That's a long game. There is no way that having viable open-source competitors appear and gain an established user base is a positive outlook for corporate data scraping businesses who need to lure us into their mouse traps. We can expect them to seek "friendly integrations" with fediverse in the future.

Why would you, I know you love this shit

Because it's not even Twitter anymore. It is called X, a MLM platform for neo-nazis. By stubbornly using the platform you are keeping their dream alive.

Threads is not an all an idea but an execution. Twitter abandoned it's value proposition of nobodies being able to shit post non-billionaire elites and threads just relaunched that concept. Way different situation than trying to compete with TikTok since Twitter set itself on fire and made itself unfashionable. Nobody needs to innovate the next Twitter they just need to replace what Twitter took away. The fediverse itself would still seem to service a different demographic from that since shit posting celebs is all normies ever wanted from that platform.

This would require either a central authority for registering and managing the identities, or the path of distributed ledger, where identity is confirmed with digital signatures when transacting - the second option is what crypto is. Some type of Blockchain tech could service it but all crypto related technology is buried in bad optics right now due to the current state of it being a big mouse trap setup by venture capital to squeeze money out of people without the protections of regulation afforded by their centralized identity management (which is run by the native government that the users are a citizen of.)

He hasn't figured out how to tear up and eat a security camera yet.

Seems like the trend will be for the centralized interests to join the federation. As it should be. The challenge ahead is preventing them from seizing power.

Wow those people sure are living it up. I can't imagine what I would do with a bunch of cigarettes, makeup and junk food that I didn't have to pay for. I have to pay megacorp boatloads for those luxuries to cope with my miserable existence and here those anonymous jerks get them for free by cheating the system.

There are two techs. There is engineering tech like Steve Wozniak at Apple tech, and there is marketing "Tech" like Elizabeth Holmes at Theranos tech, and Sam Bankman-Fried at FTX tech, and Elon Musk tech. The latter is a series of grifts under the brand of "Tech"

Xfinity was also an attempt at competing against FiOS because consumers were getting to know that FiOS = speed in the Comcast hometown. If your neighbors have FiOS and you're just a lame-o with Comcast cable, that is no bueno. Luckily I don't have lame-o Comcast cable, I have Xfinity, the cool sounding thing that I once again don't understand what it is so it can be whatever they tell me it is. Which is honestly a smart move for a brand, all things considered. Things wouldn't stay cable forever.

Morphing the actual event and using softer language to describe the behavior is certainly one way to abuse people by gaslighting them. He didn't say women are strong he accused the ones participating in this of being weak. Take your doublespeak elsewhere.

Why don't you test that bad joke out on lemmy and see how it plays?

I had an epic gateway that came with a 1GB hard drive, which was blowing minds at the time. I remember getting 64 MB of ram to upgrade in it so I could try running starcraft at normal speed since it was a lag factory

Since

A "Death Star," if you will. I'm imagining a cool film could be made involving an evil force utilising such a weapon to incur galactic domination.

"I Am" in particular carries the nuance of a proper noun in this context, I think, the same way we would use "I" when describing our own activity. I think an apt way to interpret it is such like:

'Now "I Am" become death, the destroyer of worlds'

Like, it's not the simple "I" as we refer to ourselves, but rather the Great "I Am" for the ultimate being. It's used in place of just "I" and the places where it is used make sense from our perspective if rewritten as such. Hopefully that is something more relatable for modern audiences.

HOA Simulator 9000 is the most fun I've ever had in VR, and being taxed on every transaction was the escape from reality that I needed

Literally the risk averse part of the brain is the one still in development.

That all depends - how many joints did you smoke before outsmarting the engineers? 🧐

That's not really implied by simply acknowledging that their brain isn't developed yet, not sure why you are defensive about it like giving them keys to a death machine when they also clearly have had mental issues and haven't gotten far along in their prefrontal cortex is a necessary rite of passage. There are a lot of possible angles to look at situations like this to consider how to fix them and blaming the people involved might be the easy answer but actual justice for society becomes more complicated. Nobody wants to deal with this story, and that's the bottom line.

The question is where to draw the line between the dumb-compliant and the nefarious.

What do you consider bullying if not just doing shitty things to people because you can?

99.9999% of people do not agree about anything. We can't even approach the number because throughout the journey of knowledge people jump off regularly when it's time for their stop. Ask your questions - shoot your shot. You only get one chance.

Where does parody fit in? There are a lot of examples of restaurants like this and all seem to be based on a play on words/tongue in cheek parody of pornhub due to the names of their businesses, however they are not using the name pornhub at all just the style of text inside the orange and black pill

Original thoughts aren't exactly a mainstay of people either despite how often that gets romanticized in AI criticisms

The speculative tone is interesting since they did do it, and it opened a revenue stream for both the company and contributing artists. It isn't saving the company but it was undoubtedly successful and proves that there are people that value and invest in their online brand outside of the crypto Twitter bubble.

It is open-source.

Glad I wasn't the only one who went hard on the 2280dw. Bought it a couple times for a couple situations and it even managed to be the one to finally get some stubborn boomers off of a dot matrix for me.

The only people to even suggest otherwise are the actual victims suffering. You and the other reactionaries are only as involved as you've been able to read about.

I get this brand called teelevo off of Amazon, try searching for that along with wallet case for your phone model. It's sort of like an armor case with a compartment you can slide a couple of cards into. It's not as strong as say an OtterBox type of phone armor, but when I drop it it has been the case that cracks if anything. I don't mind because they are also relatively cheap compared to the alternative
