Walking away and not looking back is actually very powerful.

I mean seriously... We don't have ANY better and more qualified candidates in our 331.9 million citizens? Really?

I left Reddit because of it's toxicity and general hivemind tone that seemed to take over there in the last year or so. I want to interact with kind people, not worry about exactly where I place every single comma in my comments for fear that someone will think I'm putting emphasis on the wrong syllable. I am 100% all in with the "let's be nice" statement here, thank you for posting this.

Thank you for this in the short term. Not gonna lie, I was a little grossed out by all the furry / anime porn / gone wild stuff that was crossing my feed when I hit all. No matter how fast I blocked the communities, I couldn't get them all. I'm not a prude person at all but I also don't come here to surf random porn.

Thank you for this, I love that you're working to make this a better place and being all inclusive in the process. Y'all are awesome!

4 billionaires and one guys 19 year old kid.

Hey there, I appreciate all the work you guys are all doing to keep this going. We see you and thank you.

I wish I could believe that anything he did would lose him his supporters but he was right. He could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose a single one. I wish I knew what power he held over them.

We have free transit in Albuquerque. It's basically turned into a rolling homeless shelter. They hired security to manage it. My dad was one of those. He was attacked by someone using drugs on the bus and had the back of his hand bit off in a brutal attack. The busses here are VERY dangerous and I'd never step foot on one again.

so - as one of those people who really didn't know much about the 3rd party apps or even what the protest/blackout was, I was wishing for an alternative for quite some time now. Reddit has become an echo chamber where you're downvoted for having your own opinion, no matter how vanilla the "dissenting" opinion is. The trolliing and constant arguing gets old after awhile, and I don't think the current state of reddit is what the original intent of the platform ever was. This, for me, was why I gravitated toward Beehaw specifically. I'm not going back to Reddit. It reminds me of a playground full of bullies, itching for an argument. This platform is so much more my speed. And I feel like there are a pretty decent amount of people here who are in the same mind... for us, the alternative is welcome and Spez can wait til he retires for us to return because it's not happening.

My technique is to "shock" the meat (not sure of the right term here) and then turn the heat way down and go low and slow... So for example.... If I have a 5 lb shoulder roast I'll go 1/2 hour uncovered at 475F and then turn it down to 200-250 and go another 4 or so hours (still uncovered) or til it's about 165 internal on a meat thermometer. The 1/2 hour at 475 forms the crust and seals in the juices.

Side note, life has been so much better in my feed since defederating from the instances that were becoming furry/gonewild heavy. Thank you for your diligence.

I've been 100% remote since 2017. I don't even know if I could function in a traditional office again. Too many distractions

I'm in my mid-40s and I didn't go to college -- I was one of the last generations where you didn't HAVE HAVE HAVE to have an advanced degree to qualify for something like an admin assistant position.

I truly hope that the younger generations take this as an opportunity to stand up for themselves and stop feeding into the notion that everyone needs advanced degrees. It's absurd. If no one has a degree, then they can't demand that people have degrees. Degrees should be for engineers, doctors, people with advanced careers. Past that, it's simply a money making scheme for colleges and a bullshit bill of goods that they're selling to people who cant, and shouldn't have to, pay for it.

As someone in the advertising industry - I felt overwhelmed by ads and served content. I want a place where my content isn't driven by a corporation trying to manipulate my spending habits... And I want a place where no one is trying to monetize my eyes and brain. That's why I can't support reddit. Yeah, I know, companies need money. But back in the olden days, people weren't the product if that makes sense. Getting everyone on the same app/platform isn't a mistake. Apps have all sorts of other purposes designed specifically to see what you're up to, where you are, what else you do when you're on your phone. Corporate apps watch you. Plain and simple. Getting people off of 3rd party apps and onto a reddit app, while increasing making their users the product, isn't an accident or coincidence.

Congrats and welcome everyone! Why are we expecting another surge next week? I've been a step removed from the news this week.

m'lady, m'gold me too - just jokes though!!

Lemmons

I was a baconreader person too but I deleted it and moved 100% to beehaw when things started getting weird at that other place

Sales have fallen 59% in a year..... Musk took over 9 months ago.... weird coincidence.

Fine then I don't have to pay taxes anymore.

YES... the way people talk to each other on Reddit is disheartening. I found that if I didn't phrase things EXACTLY in the same tone/manner that was the general "reddit tone/manner" it was an argument and downvotes. If I had any opinion that was ever so slightly different from the popular opinion it wasn an argument and downvotes. It became impossible to have authentic conversations in many of the subs

hang on, what leaked internal email, do you know where I can find that?
