The Stanley Parable doesn't really have a genre, and I don't think you make another entry into that genre without being derivative. There's a couple games I can think of that have themes of player agency, Bioshock and to a lesser extent Spec Ops: The Line. Just some ramblings.

The best is when you pick them up and move their bodies around but their little heads stay in the same spot

7 years ago. It's been a very welcome change here.

I love these memes. Works fine in Thunder

What would it look like? I'd guess Amazon ads in the search bar, proprietary package managers overriding the old open package manager, and popup ads for distribution Pro?

As long as JavaScript is being used, TypeScript will be used. It makes writing JavaScript tolerable.

Ubuntu has had all three of those things. Amazon ads in the search bar was awhile back. Not sure but I assume they still hijack installing Firefox using apt and instead install it using snap. And Ubuntu Pro popups are a new thing.

That's a Samsung S4 in the stock photo. Those things were like Lego, I used to have a few that I'd swap out parts to keep running. I changed out screens, charging ports, cameras. And you could swap batteries on the fly. Those were better times.

Web developer, couldn't go without three monitors. Just three 1080p panels. Center monitor has the code editor, right has the browser, and left has the ticket or designs or the music player or Slack.

I don't watch very many movies and I'm by no means a movie critic; I think it looks terrible.

Spotify has to collect data on what you listen to to recommend music that’s similar. I’d argue that’s Spotify’s best feature.

The dude who made VSCode Stories sold it for some cash.

Most places other than the US. I know it's illegal here in Canada.

Seems like it's cheap to start the bidding at $2500 but the cheapest thing is probably the initial purchase price after moving it, buying the needed cabling, and electricity bills.

It wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint. Reddit's content would be accessible through free and open instances which wouldn't bring traffic through Reddit and their ads. The thing that brought the end of the API and third party Reddit clients in the first place.

Edit: I completely missed the point of the question.

A classic.

Also you press the clutch pedal a lot harder and quicker than the brake pedal so you really slam it.

Not so much broken as change of focus. Their focus now is money, and it's hard to turn down hundreds of millions of dollars.

They certainly have some tricks and talent. GTA 5 ran on the launch 360 which had 512mb of RAM shared between CPU and GPU.

MANDATORY. MINIMUM. SENTENCES.

I want to switch to get high refresh rates on my multi monitor setup. I tried recently again but I can't for the life of me get screen sharing working, which I need for work.

Edit: With some help here and a Slack update released yesterday to fix the problem, it's working in both Zoom and Slack!

Nice

It wasn't the greatest song in the world.

It was/is an extension so you would've had to explicitly search for and install it to see it.

Could switch to coins.

It hit the extra wide brake pedal instead of the non-existent clutch pedal.

That's me as well, they did a lot to get newcomers in. It's just easy to poke fun at them these days.

If it makes you feel better they're trying to privatise healthcare here in Canada too.

I'm Canadian and I've inhaled my fair share of cold air. I have never heard of such a thing before.

If you put humidifiers on one side of the room and dehumidifiers on the other is it wirelessly (or pipelessly) transferring water?

I haven't seen those ads or any other since I've got an ad blocker

Glad to see the updates that came with the Half Life 25th anniversary being brought to other games.

The differences between distros are the things you mentioned. They all use the Linux kernel, so the differences are in the DE, installer, theme, default packages, and package manager. These changes come about from design choices: rolling vs versioned releases, stability goals, FOSS vs proprietary packages/repositories, things like systemd vs alternatives, and overall goals/use cases (lightweight, server, etc).

A distro can be as little as a theme change. The famous Hannah Montana Linux is KUbuntu with a custom theme, icon pack, and Hannah Montana as the background.
