Most of the other countries with problems don’t have their citizens walking around loudly declaring as a matter of average discourse that they are the “greatest country in the world”.

You could also say they are 80-90% sure of the gender, it’s not exactly a coin toss. LGBTQ+ people deserve to exist, have rights, be happy, be accepted, and love who they want to love. But a person seeing a penis on an ultrasound can still be reasonably sure of the gender.

Most of dodi and fitgirls repacks are actually just other peoples releases, they aren’t installing any cracks, that’s why the upload notes always say “based on codex”, or elamigos, or empress, etc. Unless what you meant was that they apply the cracks to the games that come as seperate ingredients in the original releases?

They do however usually make those releases smaller by compressing the shit out of them and making things like the additional media and language packs optional. And make the releases available through more mainstream avenues like torrents.

They exist for people with data caps and terribly slow internet. I’d argue they also exist for people with limited hdd space but you still need to decompress the game before you can play so instead you could say they are good for people that have seperate storage servers for their media libraries and backups.

You can keep an archive of all your downloaded pirated games that collectively take up half the space if you are the kind of person that hordes things like that, in case you decide you wanna reinstall and play a game again or something.

So the hierarchy generally goes like this:

• You have a game
• Then you have your patch and crack makers that circumvent the games DRM. This game and patch ingredient box is called a “release”
• Then you have your repackers like fitgirl and dodi that take a release, apply the included patch to the game, make sure everything is configured and the game runs, then compress the whole thing heavily, sometimes reducing everything by up to 50%, then break the package up into a handful of large chunks, some of those chunks being things that you might not want, making them optional to you, like the soundtrack, alternative language audio packs, etc.

Because everything is so damn compressed, a game will usually take a long time to install, because your computer is literally re-inflating the bouncy castle. A lot of people will take those install times over the download sizes of the original releases which I think clarifies most who these repackers actually serve.

They exist for people with data caps and slow internet. If you can avoid downloading languages and soundtracks you don’t want in the first place then that saves you much needed data and time. And even though installation (which is actually just decompression) takes an age, it’s still faster than terrible internet downloading twice as much.

Humans also look at other peoples art to learn, they might also really like someone else’s style and want to produce works in that style themselves, does this make them AI? Humans have been copying and remixing off of each other since the beginning of time.

The fact that a lot of movie pitches are boiled down to “thing A, meets thing B” and the person listening is able to autocomplete that “prompt” well enough to decide to invest in the idea or not, is the clearest evidence of that, I personally don’t think that just because humans are slower and we aren’t able to reproduce things perfectly even though that’s what we are trying to do sometimes, means that we somehow have a monopoly on this thing called creativity or originality.

You could maybe argue that it comes down to intentionality, and that because the AI isn’t “conscious” yet, it isn’t making the decision to create the artwork on its own or making the decision to accept the art commission via the prompt on its own. Then it can’t have truely created the art the same way photoshop didn’t create the art.

But I’ve always found the argument of “it’s not actually making anything because it had to look at all these other works by these other people first” a little disingenuous because it ignores the way humans learn and experience things since the day we are born.

So far memmy is the best app in my books, pretty close to what Apollo used to be but still missing some key features like the jump bar.

Voyager/wefwef is literally just an Apollo clone but it limits its search functionality to lemmy.worlds instance allow and block lists, cutting off less savoury parts of the fediverse, even if your account is hosted with a Switzerland (everyone allowed, nothing blocked).

No you are right I was thinking more broadly of just people who were non hetero as 10-20% is the variance found in all mammalian populations so I didn’t think humans would be any different but that only covers the L the G and the B lol. Yeah you can see the effect even with something simple like the words “Mexicans” or “Jews” or “Men”, depending on the heat and spin you put on the word it can either just be a descriptive word in a benign sentence or it can have a silent “those dirty fucking” just before it. So I can definitely see how some people have been using it as a slur but context matters and probably shouldn’t be blanket moderated

Can someone convince me why jellyfin is better? Keep in mind I’m a lifetime plex pass user. And I have plex stuffed full of plugins like audnexus and YouTube metadata downloader so I can use plex as an audible service and repository for my favourite YouTube series’ or automatically pulling down YouTube podcasts and having all the metadata auto fill.

I also use the watch together feature to watch things with a friend often and an attractive sleek UI matters more than it should.

They provide setup instructions and descriptions as well as downloaders and scripts. They also each have a GitHub repository and webpage with screenshots and more flashy promo material so you can get a good idea of what they look like and how they work.

Essentially they all automatically go out and download any movies or shows you’ve told them to look out for, format the files and place them neatly in folders that your media manager like plex or jellyfin can then make available for you to watch on the client devices on phones, computers, smart tvs, chrome casts, Apple TVs, everything really

Thing is most likely you wouldn’t be in an afterlife or be able to see anything or anyone, you would just cease to exist and you would be doing just as much experiencing and thinking as you did before you were born. So being remembered is a way of extending your existence by living in the minds of those you impacted in your life and knowing you made a difference, that it was worth you being born.

Never used kodi so don’t know if this pipeline would work for you considering you might like the ability to stream from pirated sources on demand. But if you are ok with downloading your movies and shows to a local repository that you can then access from any device anywhere in the world. Then I suggest using prowlarr, radarr, sonarr, qbittorrent, overseerr, and plex media server respectively. It sounds like a lot of tools but each one plugs into the other so they all overlap and handle different parts of the whole pipeline.

But then you also fall into the trap of arguing against advancements in technology like the Industrial Revolution or globalisation, it’s affects on the environment aside, you could say it was bad because once machines were doing human work faster and more efficiently and cheaper, then so many people ended up losing their jobs. This is the correct way to build up your profile with them, I did something similar with ebooks on myanonymouse, at any given time they have like 100 free leech torrents available (things that you can download that don’t negatively affect your ratio but do still count as hit and runs if you don’t seed for the required amount of time). And they cycle out the free leech offering weekly. So I was quickly able to build up a base of about 300 tiny torrents that I set to permaseed in my qbit earning me about 100ish points an hour.

Then like dude above said you can use the points to buy a bunch of ratio in your favour, so you can download giant torrents, on myanonymouse you can also buy free leech tokens so you can spend them on any torrent and then that torrent doesnt ruin your ratio. Great for huge downloads. You can also buy seed time for torrents that are about to reach hit and run status.

Easiest way is to have a computer like a home server you leave on all the time so it can sit there with qbit open earning you points all day with very little impact to the network. Also considering that you earn points per download you leave seeding it doesn’t really make sense to delete the download unless you have no intention of consuming the content again.

And if you are worried about doubling up the download and a copy of it in your nicely organised plex folder, there are ways around that to stay space efficient.

These strats are a little out of reach though if your only computer is a laptop with a meh sized hard drive though, honestly it might make it almost impossible to remain a user in good standing with private trackers. Short of spending real money with them in a pay to play sort of deal.

We must be searching for different kinds of content because pretty much everything I add to my watchlists get downloaded. Admittedly I am using prowlarr, sonarr, and radarr to do all my crawling for me so my first grabs might be coming from other trackers before being replaced by my favourite encoders on 1337x

Thing is that’s how slurs are born isn’t it? All slurs started as descriptive words for groups of people but when enough people use them with disdain or malice for long enough, suddenly the word becomes irredeemable and it can no longer be said without having all that hate automatically added on intentional or not.

Even the n word would have started out as a regional term simply for black people (hear me out). If you look at the word or the way it’s pronounced it’s really just a mangled or incorrectly pronounced version of the word negro which is simply the Spanish/latin word for the colour black. But because of the people that said it, in the way that they said it, in the region they said it, at the time that they said it, it can no longer be said lest you be magically transported back to the 1800’s with a whip in your hands.

I use brave which is a chromium browser with all the tracking stuff turned off and a few ad blockers baked in. It also has some vpn and crypto wallet stuff built in but it’s not in your face so you can just ignore it.

This ad platform shouldn’t affect brave right? Should just be another thing the brave team are able to automatically switch off when the browser updates?
