She sang fondly about that Christmas tree farm, so I guess this new song is just to shit talk about New Jersey.

Obviously they do, most people have a gender.

Wayland break games

The Steam Deck uses wayland so I guess that's not true (anymore?)

I think you should check the batteries in your carbon monoxide detectors.

I feel like there are two kinds of preppers.

OP is clearly making fun of only one of them.

While I do agree that the internet can and will make any issue a hundred times worse that it would be without it, I very much feel like her argument is just a rehash of the "video games make kids violent"-claim.

And when do you ever need the feature to fold an A4 sheet into A5?

When you want to read it more comfortably for example.

I guess she assumes that parents are always willing and able to do the best for their kids and can't be at fault if something bad happens to them.

Ghey is campaigning for the introduction of “children’s phones” with no social media apps, which are linked to their parents’ devices.

This would probably kill more trans kids than the current system ever could.

What are you talking about?

Hallucinations in LLMs are so common that you basically can't trust them with anything they tell you.

And if I have to fact-check everything an LLM spits out, I need to to the manual research anyways.

Maybe they where talking about the shape some cheap in-ears have? If headphones don't fit your ears well, they'll start to feel uncomfortable or even hurt after a while.

I don't think the internal wear-leveling and overprovisioning of SSDs can or should be able to replace raid. Disregarding a dead sector without losing capacity is great, but it won't help you when (for example) the controller dies.

Depending on the amount of data you're storing SSDs also might be too expensive.

The only exception is maybe Raid 0 in a normal PC. Here it's probably better to just get one disk for each logical drive.

He also started to go crazy after selling Mojang.

Sometimes I wonder if that came from the Money or if it would've happened anyways.

It's called "reduce, reuse, recycle'. OP is asking about step two.

If the prediction cannot be altered I might. Because that way I basically have plot armor until I die.

If that information just reflects the current path I'm on but changes based on my actions I don't want to hear it.

Why do we need 24GB of RAM in a Phone again?

Dekkia.

I already use that name everywhere online, might as well put it on my passport.

Go back to bed.

X is old and very hard to maintain. A lot of rules about how displays work have changed drastically since X became a thing. X went along with most of those changes, which meant the introduction of more and more hacks to keep it running.

Over time X became worse and worse to work on and people realized that it's easier to write something new from scratch instead of trying to fix the decade-old technical debt in X.

That new thing was Wayland and over time most if not all people that where interested in working on desktop compositing pivoted away from X.

Wayland (as it is always the case with new software of that size) didn't hit the ground running. It had various issues at the beginning and also follows a different desig philosophy than X.

Despite a lot of issues being fixed some people are still very vocal about not wanting to use wayland for one reason or another. While some of those reasons are valid, most come from ignorance or laziness to adapt.

Windows will leave your EFi linux boot alone.

I wish that was True. Windows loves to overwrite boot partitions during major updates in my experience.

They both implemented ways to detect each others tags and warn their users.

Afaik that's as far as it goes.

Wouldn't nerving downvotes/dislikes make it harder to voice your option freely? It's the easiest way to signal if you dislike something (And ofc the other way around with upvotes). But if you make it harder to do that, you'll suddenly have a lot of people that just don't bother. That will create a false sense of acceptance of whatever has been said and will make it easier to create echo chambers.

The phone doesn't support 3G. Why are you spreading FUD?

A Link between worlds genders.

I had a motorola z3 play a few years ago.

Software quality was pretty good. Security updates were sometimes 3-4 months behind and would combine a few monts when they did get released. When I contacted them about it I was told that not all security patches google issues apply to them. I don't have a way of verifying that.

With "normal" updates to different Android versions they where also slow, but I guess that's normal with most Android vendors.

The biggest bummer with that phone was that they killed the module-feature halfway trough it's livecycle in some regions. (You could snap modules to the back that would add additional stuff like a 360° Camera or a bigger Speaker)

There is an official lineageos build for the z3 play which still gets updated I believe. Even very recent motorola phones get lineageos pretty soon after release. (Not shure tho if that includes all or just the flagships)

Look at him. Screaming with joy, just living the moment.

I would hate it if something bad happened to him.

Anything that isn't debian-like. I'm just very used to It and can't make myself learn anything else.

There are no other 3DS emulators to rise up. Citra was the only one.

It'll take months or years to develop a new 3DS emualtor. This is a huge blow to video game preservation.

Couldn't that be said about upvotes as well?

Also: Nobody owes anyone anything and that also goes for explainations on up- or downvotes.

I believe there's a better way to teach people that without consuming the electricity of a small country.

We've got something similar. The fork we have came in a pack of two. The one we don't use for cat food is in the drawer with all the other forks and nobody ever uses it.

But there's there's already a way to clarify what your downvote means by just writing an additional comment.

But maybe someone doesn't want to clarify because they feel like it's not worth their time. Or maybe they disagree with everything and don't know where to start. Or maybe the just want to say "I don't like that" and that's it.

But what If I don't want to have a conversation? Sometimes I just want to signal to someone that I don't like what they posted.

Can you think of a real life equivalent expression of a drive-by downvote that wouldn't be considered rude?

I don't think downvoting a post without an explanation is rude. It's the most basic way of saying: "I don't like this".

But to answer your question: Literally showing someone a thumbs-down.

Also, why do you think they would care what you think if you're not going to engage more?

They should feel free to ignore Downvotes then (or disable them in their client)

it's hardly going to change my view

Of courses it won't, but I don't care. If I cared I'd write a comment.

Oh, I see. I had it on different disks with one efi partition at the start of each. Windows didn't like that.

I'm still assuming death is inevitable at some point.

If I get "death by plane crash" for example, I don't necessarily have to fly for this to happen.

Deleting my account now means Musk wins.
