Makes sense, considering cryptobros seem to want "get rich easy" and the orange dumpster fire certainly panders to that demographic.

Hamburger menu -> Settings -> General -> "Firefox Updates" -> "check for updates but let you choose to install them"

As for losing open tabs, there're a few different extensions that'll allow you to bookmark all open tabs and throw 'em in a folder. Easy enough to do that before updating, then just delete the folder that's created via the bookmarks manager once you've updated/reopened tabs.

"For health reasons" - if that's what they choose to enforce, well then... looks like every day just became Halloween.

"No officer, Im not wearing this Ronald Reagan mask for my health, I'm celebrating Halloween" "Yes, officer, in May".

That fat apartheid fuck needs to piss off his aircraft maintenance guy.

At least it's not one of those stupid "reaction face" thumbnails. A clickbait title is easy enough to parse as "not worth my time" but those punchable face thumbnails? Fuck me, the person that started that trend needs to find the nearest running belt sander and start licking.

Politicians should focus on why we should elect them rather than why we shouldn't elect the other guy. This middle-school clique politicking has been incredibly detrimental, and the longer it goes on, the worse things will get. The whole "get a message out in 3 seconds" aspect is partly to blame, and we as citizens need to own up to the fact that we collectively are responsible for this crap, as our habits have indicated that we dont want "long form" even when something like that is important to have and to be able to accurately convey information.

Might want to reconsider the mobo/cpu choice, given the current situation with Intel chips failing at a pretty high rate.

Better buckle up Buttercup, because "being in a database" is a reality. Thanks to data breaches such as Equifax, pretty much every US citizen and all their important details are available in numerous databases.

We willingly purchase devices that listen and watch our every move... to be added to private, corporate databases that get sold around like cheap prostitutes. At least with government databases, voting gives at least a teeny, tiny modicum of control.

And even better, while I cant name specific breaches in relation to global populations, it's a safe bet most everyone else is compromised as well.

On the bright side, at least it makes random identity theft occurring to any one particular individual akin to winning the PowerBall.

No real harm, but it's one more account to manage/worry about.

Flipside is that relying on a singular account is also bad, as now it's a single point of failure in regards to security.

After the Beans sold out to corporatize and join the "cheap shit from overseas" party, their name has lost a lot of meaning. It's good to see the OG family being philanthropic, but that doesn't negate them selling out.

And then every time you sneeze, you end up ordering another case of diapers from Amazon.

Damn it Champy, we told you no snacking on the tourists!

Most of those options are the traditional text-based, "page" based type notes. There really aren't that many options in terms of competition to something like OneNote though, where the "page" isnt a fixed size, and supports more than just plain text such as handwritten text, or images, or stuff that doesnt necessarily fit in a neat little square.

Dont get me wrong, there are some fantastic note-taking apps out there that are dead simple to use, but if you're looking specifically for something like OneNote, then again, super limited options.

The only news I care to hear about people wealthy enough to throw away others' year's salary for trends like this... is if and when they get punted square in the nuts.

So far, it's been slow news on that front.

Ah, so it's not so much "returning" as it is getting a remake. Different company producing, and doesn't seem like they use the original recipes, but instead crowdsource it essentially.

Not complaining, because I'm totally going to get some, but for those that are hoping the OGs are making a comeback, they're not.

I watched an episode or two, and it's basically the current generation's version of GMod Idiot Box.

Who the fuck are they, and why the fuck would anyone care?

Saw the headline, came in thinking "I know there's a federated version, but can't remember the name" and BAM! there it is; Abidan in with the save!

Whatever happen to the golden rule of the internet? "Don't feed the trolls".

Or whatever happened to people's ability to just... walk away? Harassment is terrible, but it's the internet. Unless the person is sitting in the same room looking over your shoulder to follow your every move, you can make a new account, block the person, just ignore them... all sorts of options.

The "oh no someone needs to fix my personal issue for me" trend is how we've gotten to where we are now.

I dunno how well it works, or what it requires but https://svgur.com/ exists.

CO and Paradox are a public joke at this point. The only value they bring to the gaming community these days is the entertainment derived from shitting on their inept public relations.

Now would probably be a good time to mention private trackers. GGn usually has everything, isn't too hard to maintain good standing, and has a relatively decent community.

I'm not sure what I expected, but now I feel like I have to go mow a lawn sippin' on lean.

The "free speech" instances are just cesspools of a different shade. Sticking to any one singular platform, you'll eventually notice them start to slide towards a groupthink/echochamber of sorts, regardless of the focus of the instance.

Easiest way is to just browse multiple instances of different types. At least the unhinged insanity of each side cancels each other out for the most part.

Mainstream seems filled with bots, and non-mainstream seems filled with the types that those in the mainstream would rather not put up with.

Maybe they're just aware that the Wu-Tang Clan ain't nuthin' to fuck with...

Oh man, good thing they're fixing this. The camera being disabled means that there was absolutely zero way to reverse in a safe manner. Such a critical component of vehicles should absolutely get addressed as soon as possible! If you're parked in a garage, BE SAFE PEOPLE! Reversing is DANGEROUS! More so if you don't have a camera!

Why though? Why go through the trouble for zero benefit? Not like you're going to get the support contract that's tied to these paid, enterprise-level versions.

Everyone claiming to be nice is living a lie and ignoring that everything everyone does ever is essentially motivated by their own self-interests.

Recognizing that makes it a hell of a lot easier to deal with people and avoid buying into the forced bullshit that attempts to force itself into every aspect of life.

It's like if the Craigslist guy was like "You know what, I think I'm going to open my own outdoor store". I like the little link to the page about his car. No bragging, no showing off... just a "Hey, this is my car. These are it's specifications. Check it out."

Could probably buy something from the site, and request the owner sell it to you only after going out for a beer together, and it'd probably work.

Interesting sales tactic, but that still makes this post basically a giant advertisement. Also LOL @ them being butthurt they couldn't make a living off of this a few years ago so they got mad and put it away.

It's so weird seeing just how much of the internet has transitioned into the "Fuck you, pay me" model.

We're still beating the Covid dead horse?

I'm pretty chuffed with what we have now. Considering it really hasn't been that long that this sort of stuff has even been around, yet the average person can utilize an "AI" in their everyday life without even knowing how to use a computer.

Sure, it's not 100% perfect, but I'll take "stupidly convenient and right 90% of the time" over "takes hours of sifting through blogspam to find useful information that may or may not be correct". Especially when it comes to mundane stuff like writing a resume or things where you have the knowledge, but just not the time.

Neither, as they rely on Firefox. Waterfox, while decent, does raise an eyebrow as it was bought out by an ad company. LibreWolf is only good as long as the underlying Firefox code it's built on stays as pliable as it is.

And before you ask, I dont actually recommend any browser. They're ALL shit. And I quite literally mean ALL.

I look at it as this: If the medical industry can fuck me over three ways from Sunday for a band-aid and an aspirin, well they can afford to fucking pay me for any blood.

Yeah, that combination of his own self-importance, and his fanbase's seeming need to slobber all over his knob seems to result in a never-ending circlejerk about such a trash person. Him and that rapist Taint.

See that's where I made my mistake. I forgot that people are much more invested in others' lives, rather than the events that occur around them. My bad, you're right. It's vital that we know what's going on in Justin Timberlake's life at all times.

"Patent pending" and already picked up by a major manufacturer. So what this means is basically while it could be a good thing... the article is basically an advertisement for an upcoming product.

Not nearly as good a thing until it gets copied/the patent gets worked around. Also, zero explanation of what was actually done to accomplish this, so again, leaning more towards "this is just advertisement with extra steps".

This AI debate is hilarious. Especially from a privacy standpoint, because if anyone were all that concerned about their privacy, they wouldn't be posting sensitive stuff to things they don't control, if at all.

Add to that society trends towards an increasing population, societal pressure that frowns on any talk of how to stabilize or even decrease the population, and our ever increasing reliance on various black boxes that we dont even begin to understand, and you can see we're heading in a direction that goes against privacy whether we want it or not.

Easier to encourage people to make the conscious effort to not post what they dont want public than it is to change all the platforms involved.
