There are people that like to keep up with minor version releases like this.

When the majority of the world has been using centralised platforms that don't have the complexities federated platforms do, it's understandable that there will be people that get confused over why there are several "Lemmy" servers, or why they can't sign into a Lemmy server when they signed up on another, or why when they try to find a Lemmy community on their server they can't see it, but they can in Google.

Somehow email providers have avoided this problem, I think because they are pre-installed on devices as the "Email" app.

Pros: The Fediverse would gain a significant amount of users and existing communities.

Cons: Those users would be redditors. While most I've seen are polite, some really love to hate others.

While you were using the subreddits you were subscribed to, the general default subreddits were always seeing activity like this.

I'm not sure what the difference between apps and clients is in this case. They are applications that you can access a Matrix server with, behaving as clients.

I recall reading that they won't do anything as the comments are content that you willingly submitted. The most they will do is suggest you delete your account to "anonymise" them, but all that does is replace the username with "[deleted]".

You can use a tool like Shreddit to edit and remove all of your comments in bulk. Feeding it your GDPR SAR folder will allow it to get past the 1000 comment backlog limit.

I think people don't like this at all not just because NFTs bad, but also because it changes reddit more and more from the website it used to be for commenting on articles & images into crypto social media.

To give some more information on this, reddit can "shadowban" users, which will cause all of the user's submissions and comments following the shadowban to be automatically removed. Moderators of subreddits can see and can "Approve" these removed comments on subreddits they moderate, but only reddit admins can remove the shadowban from the user if they appeal. This shadowban system is often used on spammers so that they waste time spamming into the ether without realising it, however the shadowban would affect all of their comments and submissions, not ones with a specific link in them.

Reddit does also maintain a list of domains commonly used for spam purposes. I believe ibb.co is an example of a domain on that list that instantly gets any comment or submission it is in removed.

When a comment is removed, it is replaced with "[removed]" text, however this can only be seen by other users if there are any replies to the comment. Otherwise the comment disappears from view except to the user themselves and the subreddit's moderators.

@Crass_Spektakel you should try testing this in places other than the subreddit you have seen this in. Subreddit moderators can apply their own link filters and automatically remove comments and submissions without notifying the user.

You can download audio from YouTube as 160kbps opus files, which aren't lossless sure but it's the highest quality you can get from YouTube if alternate means aren't an option.

There are also some games that are designed around the slowdown in mind, and not just on the PlayStation. For example games developed by Cave like Dodonpachi, Ketsui, etc. slow down on original hardware when there are a lot of bullets on the screen, which intentionally gives the player an easier time to weave through dense bullet patterns even if the character is moving slower too. Rereleases and emulators need to recreate that slowdown otherwise the player is going to have a bad time.

Of course there are games like Driver where the slowdown is just because of the hardware and the developers either designed the game to skip frames or tied things to the framerate. Sonic Adventure 2 comes to mind where the whole game is tied to its 60fps framerate cap and slows down as the franerate dips.

It really depends on the subreddits you use. I was on reddit for almost 10 years and while I saw others complaining about power-trippers I never experienced it myself and that's after I've used several bigger subreddits.

They've added more to do but the main gameplay loop still involves running around defeating enemies and getting loot.

• Since January 2023 they released the 4th region Stia, as as well as story that goes beyond that. The areas that they've added since the 3rd region Kvaris have their own gimmicks to use. They've not released any new regions since then as they said they want to focus on other parts of the game.

• There's a new Creative Space feature that allows you to build some very impressive stuff.

• The class level cap is now 75 and they've added a load of class skills for each class as well as handed out buffs.

• Since launch they added the Braver (Katana & Bow), Bouncer (Jet Boots and Soaring/Dual Blades), Waker (summons familiars with their Harmonizer) and Slayer (Gunblade) classes.

• Leciel is a quest they added that changes its layout, obtainable buffs and end boss each day. Running it gives you near-endgame augment capsules for your gear.

• ARKS Rankings are now run weekly and task you with running existing content to get the highest score or best time and place onto a leaderboard. What this content is varies each week, but it can involve defeating a boss quickly, or completing a Trainia dungeon as fast as you can, or racing on hoverboards. The higher you get on the leaderboard the more ranking badges you get which you can spend on cosmetics, some gear and other prizes.

• Alliances can now compete in weekly rankings by collecting points from completing Alliance Tasks (which also give Alliance Badges). The best Alliances are rewarded with Meseta (the in-game currency).

• It's not really a feature, but downloading the "PSO2" side of the game is now optional if you play the Steam version. It chops 58GB off the total install size if you don't download it.

There's a load of other features and quests they've added over time that I can't remember off the top of my head. if you haven't played for a long time, I would recommend giving it another try, though pacing yourself is advised.

I posted a comment about the game before here. The game has improved since it launched, but if running around grinding for hours to improve your gear at the endgame doesn't sound appealing then you most likely won't enjoy it still.

For mp3 sure, but for opus standards 160kbps is great. I read that 128kbps is generally considered the most you need but 160kbps smooths over any artifacts, assuming the source file doesn't have them.

There's a few third-party apps that have been granted exemptions from the API pricing changes, but other than that the majority of users are using the official reddit app or "new" reddit website because they don't know any better.

Speaking of obscurity, nowadays when errors occur it seems like programs and websites are too afraid to show you the details of the error outside of a generic, sometimes witty "Something happened" or "We dropped the magnifying glass". I know that's been a thing for a long time but it is frustraiting that users seem to be being protected from detailed errors more and more.

The game was designed with solo play in mind but later content is much easier if you play with other players. There is matchmaking so you don't need to work about making a party ahead of time.

I have the downvote button hidden completely using the KES script because of that issue.

Reddit allowing you to hide your own up/downvotes to others is a really nice privacy feature that I wish the Fediverse in general had, but unfortunately the nature of federation doesn't make that possible unless you prevent them federating to other servers.

Yeah I am just having a look on my phone and it runs smoother than the "old new" design for me. The "classic" view it defaults to isn't bad either.

It does not show the OP on the front page until you go into the comments or a subreddit, and for whatever reason has the comments button open a new tab which I don't like.

With a few tweaks, I'd hapilly use it if I had to. I'd always prefer old reddit's design though.

Yes for some people it is the subscription cost, or not wanting to support Blizzard, or wanting to re-experience an old version of the game as accurately as possible.

There are also those people that like hopping between realms whenever new ones are launched to get the "fresh" experience and don't mind losing an old character when they've done all they've wanted to with it.

I do hope that more of these projects allowed you to export your character data to perhaps use on your own self-run private server. None of the ones I've seen allow you to do that.

I noticed this on Firefox mobile but not on Chromium mobile. In my case it includes profile pictures and the logo at the top of the page too.

Have any instances considered taking money for running advertisements? I don't mean the type where they are shoved between posts or following you down the page with flashing animated gifs, but subtle banners that may appear at the top or the side of the page.
